  • Tadeusz Faliszewski & Ork. Syrena-Rekord - Kochanki mej ja nigdy nie zapomnę [I’ll Never Forget That Lover Of Mine] Tango (A.Miszułowicz - K.Brzeski) Syrena-Electro 1934 (Polish)
    NOTE: One of the most popular prewar Polish crooners Tadeusz Faliszewski sings the full-text version of a haunting yet today completely forgotten tango. It was composed in 1933 by Aleksander Miszułowicz, who was a professional composer of vaudevilles and operettas and alto viola player in various dance orchestras including Henry Wars and Stanisław |Nawrot. In prewar record catalogues there’s only one version recorded for Syrena-Electro by Tadeusz Faliszewski and one for Cristall-Electro by Janusz Popławski - proving the public success of this melody was mediocre while in my opinion, the fascinating melodics of this song deserved a much better fate. The lyrics describes sad days of the abandoned guy, who spends his gloomy existence in the nasty suburbs, in cocaine dens and lousy diners, remembering the magnetic eyes of his treacherous lover.

    This Tango sounds evocative like a lot of them do. It conveys - bitter-sweet ambience. The orchestration and tempo - top notch - and Faliszewski's vocals never disappoint in his Tangos. Your visuals present in interesting angle. You always come up with some unique - ideas in your artwork.
    This Tango warms our cold and rainy weekend - here in my mountainous Pittsburgh so thanks for posting it. A big Tango hug to you! Have a nice weekend!

    Beautiful tango, fine orchestration, and top-rate singing by Faliszewski. Glowing parade of Polish beauties of the time. The "Miss Polonia" caption made me smile. In modern Hebrew the word for Poland is "Polania" but my father, who acquired his Hebrew much later in life than his Polish, used to pronounce it "Polonia" no matter how many times I corrected him :)

      A nice story, Dave. I always thought the Hebrew name for Poland is "Polin".

      Polin is the official and literary name. In colloquial Hebrew it is Polania. Wikipedia for "Polin" says: "Some Jewish historians say the Hebrew word for 'Poland' is pronounced as Polania or Polin in Hebrew. As transliterated into Hebrew, these names for Poland were interpreted as "good omens" because Polania can be broken down into three Hebrew words: po ("here"), lan ("dwells"), ya ("God"), and Polin into two words of: po ("here") lin ("[you should] dwell"). The "message" was that Poland was meant to be a good place for the Jews." So my father's identity card said "Polin" for place of birth, but if someone asked me where he was from, I would answer: "Polania"

      Thank you for your comprehesive explanation. To a large extent, it explains to me why so many Jewish citizens apply for the Polish passport nowadays. If you walked along Krakowskie Przedmieście on a weekend afternoon today, you would sometimes think that you are in Tel Aviv: the Hebrew or Yddish spoken all around you :-) And a lot of young people. In the past, Poland was visited mainly by the elderly Jews, looking for memorabilia from the past. Today there is a completely different generation of visitors and you can see by their yuppie looks that they don't care much about remembering the past anymore.

    why disable the Like and Dislikes? That doesn't do anyone any good. Plus on a channel like this that dosn't have any negative veiws or anything like that, there's not gonna be a lot of people who will dislike for no reason

    • @240252
      @240252  5 років тому +1

      Dear Friend, I'm afraid you are not right. There are plenty of viewers who dislike that kind of music and that sort of attitude to history which we often present in the forum. They give negative view sometimes in 5 minutes after uploading a clip. That simply irritates me, for I see no reason why they should dislike some old recording of a jazz standard sung by e.g. Maxine Sullivan with a collection of her beautiful old photographs accompanying the music. That's simply a symptom of dumbness and ignorance and I don't want to see such people with us. It may sound brutal what I'm writing, but it is exactly as it is. Regards :-)
