- China’s state-run news agency just unveiled the AI-powered anchor at China’s World Internet Conference. The news anchor is modeled on a real presenter named Zhang Zhow. The anchor learns from live broadcast videos and is able to man the news desk 24-hours a day.

We're a long way from AI being able to do a conversation-style interview, so it's not much to worry about. These things can read scripted reports, but somebody still has to write those reports, and somebody else would have to go film live and talk with people and do those back-and-forth interviews.
And imagine if they tried to do an in-studio interview with the AI thing. Have you ever used an online store's chat help or e-mail help, and you knew the "employee" was a bot because the responses clearly didn't address what you were talking about? It just wouldn't work.
It especially wouldn't work with the political/debate style interviews. I mean, it would be funny to have one interview Sarah Sanders or Trump himself, seeing them argue with a robot about what they did or didn't say in the past, and the robot can just spit back word for word in Sanders or Trump's own voice and cite the source on the spot -- that would be cool. But they couldn't do the interviewing that requires creative or empathetic thinking, and they might have trouble catching logic fallacies.
There's also the matter of rapport, with both the interviewees and the audience. If the AI robot doesn't make that connection with the other people involved, there won't be much of an audience. Think about it. You could easily get weather reports online or by asking Alexa or whatever, so why are there still local meteorologists doing weather reports at scheduled times of day on local television stations? People like seeing familiar locals talking like neighbors about the weather. Same for local news anchors.
I think we'll be ok with these AIs. I think people will only watch them to see how good or bad the AI is, and then they'll go back to their favorite human journalists.
@@ridi333 you shouldn't be worried about that, it will just give humans time to do more important things. I'm sure in 50 years robots will replace most easy jobs like fast food and grocery store workers, maybe more.

Let’s not be ignorant people!! Since working on AI- We now finally realize we can make more machines NOT Life-size droid that’s ridiculously dumb- for our pleasure and benefit to take all people off the hamster wheel.
If so smart then we should’ve realized by now we can make machines -NOT robots but machines

I’m not sure why America or the rest of the world is so adamant about people paying for the things that this planet naturally gives us for free. Money doesn’t do anything WE ALL do it All.
