This movie leaves sadness in my heart! Mother was a British Red Cross nurse in WWII.
Mother told some sad nursing stories of returning British soldiers from Germany. My heart still aches from those stories.
I pray each night for all those suffering and fighting today for our freedom today. 😢
Mama was right there are no monsters under the bed they are all in plain sight they are our own kind.The greatest monster you will ever face in this life is another human.

Movie of a young girl somehow escaping from the gestapo. Separated from the family due to Nazis she finds a lucky shelter in a jungle. She spends nearly 1200 days in the jungle all alone whom events made tough enough. Coincidentally a youngman from British army escaping from the clutches of the Nazis, accompanies her. After passing sometime in the jungle they move on to Sweden, a safer place. She waits for her family till the end of life but alas... A movie drowned in tears. Must watch film. You'll love it.

Yes, their behaviour is a mismatch with their circumstances. They acted like it’s peacetime. She was far more realistic than him and yet he knew more than her. He knew the nazis were around yet was slow to react, no plans in case...they came,
Escape hatch, warning her, use of his gun, hiding place. After all nazis were killing everyone. Also his uniform would have given gave him away. That couple didn’t have to die. The Englishman could have ambushed them, got the nazi guns for them both. When Adira was about to be attacked by the nazi he should have hit him over the head from behind with a peice of wood or something heavy.
But it was certainly a beautiful movie, everything else was well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The treatment of this teenager talking like a 5 year old? My father escaped nazi camp by digging under a fence and living in a forest bunker until Russian liberation.

I was born in Sweden and had no idea I had any Jewish heritage until I was a teen. I came to Israel when 14 to visit my good friend from school I had met in Germany. She was Israeli and me Swedish. After she moved from Germany she came to visit me in my country of Sweden. Next year I went to her country so I came to Israel when I was around 14 and felt right at home. Many had same curly hair and same crazy sense of humor as me. I was amazed. I have a very Jewish last name and saw my name on signs in Israel. So I discovered my Jewish grandpa had been to Israel before me. So I figured out my Jewish connection and fell in love with the country. So my friend’s country was my country too and I’m one of Israel’s biggest supporters. Just recently got back from volunteering there in agriculture and went on a Solidarity Mission. I might make Aliyah, hoping this war ends before long. I plan to live in Israel at least part of the year. Currently I live in California but also have a place in Sweden. I’m close to retirement age now. If I’d been younger I wouldve signed up for the IDF. I love Israel so much! 🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱❤️Am Israel Chai. עם ישראל חי 😊

So I’ve not watched very much of the movie yet but is struck by her perfect hair and perfect clean clothing after living the wilderness some 90 days with almost no food and seemingly total lack of any weight loss. Not too realistic. But maybe movie changes.

I was born in 1951 just after the war and life was much easier going people are friendly and we knew each other in the streets. As children spent most of our time outdoors playing. You didn’t see any fat people around in those days and we get much less and we’re healthier for it

We tend to put on the rose colored glasses whenever we think about the past. I spent a lot of time outside and my brother was a total book worm.
We grew up in the same house and both had completely different views on almost everything.
Opinions were almost as diverse then as they are now.
BTW we always got along well growing up and still do.

If we dig deeper it is never about religion or such kind of things. They are only used as arguments on the surface, as excuses for violence and cruelty against another folk and people. And if a religion is cruel and oppressive, one would notice it and change it because a loving God and rage/jealousy is a contradiction if we really want to believe in love as a highest power.
In reality it is always about human ego (and ego contains fear) and about a burning need to experience great personal power, about filling a painful inner gap and injury, about the fear of maybe not being enough in the end. Killing others under the flag of any ideology fills an empty space which often is hidden deep inside these people, and it infects others who then also start waving the same flag and march to the same song and music, and the bigger the crowd becomes the more secure and strong do the individuals feel inside that crowd.
During the last few years it showed itself very clearly, folks splitted into two groups in just days, just because a handful of people spoke in a microphone and camera, these are the good and overthere are the bad people, and the splitting holds on until today. It`s about the personal need to be "on the good, the right side", about beeing with the ones who are the strong, the better, the winners, the entitled, the superior, the "inner circle", the "real" folk, the beloved - all this because for themselves and alone they cannot feel and sense that they already have all it takes to be "enough" and worthy of love and acceptance in this crazy world. So it always is the more emotional independent folk who know themselves and their worth quite well and are more in peace with themselves and therefore also with others. They are not so very easy "infected" by any "story" where there is good and bad, right and wrong, worthy and unworthy people.
Most of these ambitions and "ideas" to destroy other people, lives and cultures work unconsciously - and stay like this, it is never reflected fully because down under the ideology it serves another, more personal purpose. And we do not talk about this issue, we only talk about why the "enemy" must be fought.
As long as humans aren`t able to accept and love themselves as spiritual beeings who are not more or less than one beautiful part of a beautiful and creative whole, they will get caught up in the idea of other people being wrong or bad, of "the enemy", "the others" who must be suppressed. Even if it clearly would be about money and mineral resources, in reality it is about power and controll - and needing controll so very badly that one would murder masses of own and other people to get it, always shows that there is big personal fear about oneself right behind it.
Because from a social perspective we all would strive for a world and life where everybody has space enough, peace and same rights, happiness, safety, love and friendship. Maybe it sounds naive but it totally would be possible if the egos weren`t so very big (and fearful) and the picture of an individual (us) who seems to be separated from all and everything and therefore must fear everything that `s "different" wouldn`t be so strong.
It is not true that - like Darvin suggested - the survival of the strongest would be nature`s natural way. It wasn`s elbows, bombs, knifes and ego which brought mankind to such blooming life we see today - it was and always is our ability to care and love, our incredible social skills which make us overcome all changes and challenges again and again and until today. Darvin did not claim the theory of the strongest would be right, he also said he wouldn`t be sure and maybe could be totally wrong in this - it was other men who found his theory quite fitting into how they wanted to have their colonies and the suppression of people explained (and having slaves), so they made Darvin`s theory a "proven fact", made it a tool to "excuse" slavery.
If I am a part of each of you I cannot cut off any of your hands without hurting and bleeding myself. I could not kill your sons and fathers without feeling your loss, pain and grief because if we all are ONE, everything would be selfharm until we stop such behavior and instead develop the will to work together in the best possible way. Many people rather want us all to be separated with borders between and rockets behind all fences, with pride and fear and hate, acting out in the name of big ego. But what if there is no real separation because we all are one part of a powerful whole, and we would have to talk and negotiate instead of shooting rockets? Dropping a bomb is so much easier in order to look cool, mighty, powerful and superior. From that perspective war is easy. For a durable peace it would need real personal development, a strong ability to love (oneself and others) and a much deeper understanding and consciousness. Who would be ready for it - NOW? Best time ever to not marching with the masses. Maybe we do not need another experience with "marching" to a melody that we haven`t written.
Totally agree it’s the ego and as much as I hate saying it, it’s males that mostly need the power. Power over women, over other men etc etc. There are aggressive women too, but I feel many men feel entitled to more than most women. They want they want and they take. I find that many men are extremely selfish. Not all, but many are. Sad to say.
And the Holocaust occurred not that many years ago at all! Very scary. Now w Oct 7th & Rising Antisemitism. Very scary!!!😱
