    Loved your tips and tricks, I was very impressed with your knowledge. Only critical thing was you let the caliper hang from the brake hose. Never let the caliper stress the brake hose, it could cause catastrophic failure to the brake hose, resulting in loss of braking ability. Very scary.

    Great video. I cant believe you got it out without removing the passenger axle. I picked up a 2010 jeep grand Cherokee. Was making a noise during acceleration. Changed transfer case chain( it wasnt the issue. Then changed drivers side cv joint axle. Still making a terrible clanking during acceleration. Last hope is differential ( front drive shaft seems fine also dront hub bearings seem fine).

    So I have a 2008 jeep grand cherokee 150k miles .so when i press the gas pedal going around 35 to 50 mph or a lil above 3k rpm( only when driving) i started hearing a noise like grinding/ humming. People suggested front differential. Others wheel bearing other people saying drive shaft etc.
    Car drives fine except for the annoying noise. However i hear it more at the front than back.I also notice the jeep is slow on response when floor it. Im guessing 3.7 on jeeps are always like that.

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  3 роки тому

      I can tell you this I’ve had that same exact problem and it’s a serious serious issue because the intermediate shaft wants to come out at the same time and if I remember correctly it’s not supposed the only thing I can suggest is heat I’m sure you already knew that. But then that could possibly create other situations as well this is an extremely common problem you’re referring to and I’ve never found a good solution
      When I get them out there up on the lift and sometimes I even remove the knuckle so when I hit it with the prybar and the hammer and eventually pops out

    • @sharpcarco

      Well over a text message I would be very scared to diagnose it….. But it could also be your front propeller shaft they have quite a bit of problems with them so I would look into that before you just assume that it’s the front differential sorry wish I could be of more help in that situation

    I'm in the middle of a nightmare with my 2007. My Shop has changed out two rear diff's due to howl/drone at 60-65ish. Two days ago I was told by a Master Tech I was chasing the wrong end. He said this is the front diff! He said, Remember, this truck is front-wheel drive first. There's no power being delivered to the rear necessarily so the drone must be coming from the front. Would you say that the bushings are causing the drone sound on acceleration or grade? Or is this more of a pinion-bearing problem do you think? Thanks.

    Have a 2005 grand Cherokee driver side axle stuck won’t come out

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Jason yeah that’s a real super pain in the ass when that happens.
      I’m assuming you think you tried everything just in case you didn’t hear some refreshers.
      You understand the axle has a clip on the end of it that’s a spring loaded clip and sometimes without the axle being straight that clip will not collapse like it’s supposed to?
      Now I am assuming that you have the axle is able to freely come out. The tip is out of the hub assembly
      The upper portion of the hub assembly is disconnected and the tie rod is disconnected leaving only the ball joint connected to the hub assembly so you can have a very very good amount of movement through the hub meaning the axle almost pop out straight?. Most people don’t do this but if you’re at this point you need to be able to try to get every available advantage possible.
      Now I am also assuming that you have taken a prybar and put it between the axle and the differential and sharply tried popping it out with a person holding the other end so it stays up square and straight. They can pull but mostly they’re there to help it come out if it pops out past the clip.
      If that doesn’t work there are only about six screws that hold the front differential open to the position that holds it you can take them six screws out or you can remove the front cover and take a prybar and put it between the carrier assembly and pop it out.
      I will tell you from personal experience that there has been times that was stripped open the front carrier assembly and would not come out and I ended up replacing the front carrier simply because I could not get the axle out.
      The other thing that you can do if you do not have to replace the axle is very gently cut The clip that holds the axle boot to the axle near the differential the larger clip then you can pull the Axle out and leave just a cup sitting inside their.
      Generally the cops are not worn out and I’m not sure why you’re taking the axle out most people don’t wanna do it that way I certainly don’t want to do it that way but sometimes you can never get them things out. Often times they’ve gotten stripped and fused into the front differential.
      It’s a Jeep thing well Chrysler thing because it also happens on Dodge Rams , and Dakota‘s also Durango‘s… as well. Since they’re all the same from them years

    What part(s) do I need to purchase if I need a new front differential for an 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  3 роки тому

      Honestly that’s one of them things that you should only need the differential itself and you can get one used at the junkyard they are generally fine you just have to make sure you have the proper gear ratio.
      As far as other parts go you need to take it apart and see what your break if it’s not broken already and you’re able to take it apart without breaking more stuff than you won’t need anything other than gear lube

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  4 роки тому +1

      Good afternoon sorry about not getting back to you sooner if I remember correctly you could remove the front driveshaft from the transfer case to the front differential but on some jeep models the vehicle won’t move after you do that. So you’re gonna have to pull out your front driveshaft and see if it will move after you do that theoretically it should.
      Just as an FYI you may have a bad wheel bearing and that would be a pretty cheap fix obviously I’m not there so I can’t say for certain but I certainly would check into that. You can can jack the vehicle up move the tire up and down left and right and if there’s movement it needs a new wheel bearing and removing the driveshaft will not dissipate the noise. I hope that’s helpful for you let me know if I can be of any more help

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  3 роки тому

      It is possible that it could be just a bad U joint,
      But generally when that happens that means the slip is not working on the differential so what you wanna do is you want to drain the fluid out.
      And put a modifier in there with your gear lube and hopefully in a couple of days it stops locking up like that. It’s very common for Fords to do that. I think you’re commenting on a jeep video but it would be interesting to know if that actually helped it because it does work in Ford’s

    Is this the same as the 2007 GC srt8??

      Well I can’t say for certain but I can’t say that most automobile manufacturers want to make as many parts of one type as possible so it’s an extremely good possibility that it is if you look at it and it looks the same then I’m certain that it is the same they generally don’t build out the driveline differently for specific models unless they absolutely have to and you’ll find that with higher end of vehicles and I know you probably love your SRT eight but more than likely underneath it is Pretty much the same as the hemi Jeep grand Cherokee I’m not saying there is not any difference but the differences are very minor mostly cosmetic and somewhat of a different Exhaust system if I remember correctly

    i got an issue like that but mine is when i start running from 0 mph, and between 6 and 10 mph, in the front wheel i feel and hear some clunking noise like cla cla cla cla... quick and repeatedly. But it only happens at low speed(example in traffic). Somebody told me maybe those are front diff bushing are wasted. what do you think?

      I’m not sure what’s happening but it sure does sound like you have a bad axle the way you describe your situation it certainly sounds like that to me but it is very possible that you have a bad front differential.
      I don’t know if it’s possible I can’t remember. But the question would be if you remove the front axle from the side where you’re hearing the clicking does the clicking go away if so you more than likely have a bad axle. Sorry I could not be of more help but that’s my professional Internet texting opinion God bless and have the best days

      @@sharpcarco ok... i'll take it to a jeep dealer to make sure then. I hope i would not have to buy a new differential. God bless you too bro and thanks for your opinion!

      I have the same problem! I had the under Neath checked and I was told the Axel's joints and all look just fine! So I have been doing research all morning and in thinking it the bushing like you said. Did you ever figure out what it was??

      @sharpcarco  4 роки тому +1
