    I have C200F front axle on WK, any idea why on drain and refill only about one quart goes in?, specs say 1.8 Qts, I drained it with vehicle level, does the front need to be raised to get the rest of the oil out? The rear C213R I got about 1.8 Qts. after pumping it out..

      I think I put some gear oil on the locking ring and grease on the sealing surface and slid it in. Can you compare the wear ring against your old shaft to see if it is all the way in? The QD2 is harder, you may need to lift up the other front wheel and turn it a bit to get the splines to line up. Take a look inside the differential to see if they are no longer aligned.

      You can count the number of bolts on the cover. The cover sitting on the table is a non-ELSD. The other two are ELSD and have a lot more bolts.

    Is there anyway to fit the front differential from a 2006 jeep grand cherokee on to a 2010 jeep grand cherokee??? The mechanic servicing the 2010 jeep says the differential fits but now he needs a drive shaft for this 2006 replacement differential.

    Please help

    • @SteveRivett
      @SteveRivett  4 роки тому +2

      All you can do is check the bearings for and CVs for looseness. You can also change the front differential fluid to see if it is dirty and look for broken boots on the CV joints. Eventually the problem will get bad enough that you will be able to find out what part is bad. I think I was able to drive 20,000 km before I changed the differential.

    I have a 2006 Jeep Commander, there's a loud hum (hum being a small explanation) and it only happens when I accelerate or cruise, if I let off the gas it's totally quiet. There's no clunking, clicking or rattleing sound. I've replaced both axles and front hubs,,the noise certainly sounds like it's in the front, maybe the differential. Hoping you might know some about a jeep! Is there a bearing that's causing the trouble in my front carrier? By the way it rides and drives great. Thanks.

      @casperszn994 No,,i haven't worked on it lately. the noise, or humming sound, hasn't gotten any worse. I'm 90% sure it s some sort of bearing in the front differential which is a bad job to remove and tear down. I hateto work or spend money untill I know for sure what it is. I guess it it flies out I'll know.

    Tackling the same project here. I have a question though: on my front ELSD diff, the wiring was cut from the harness where the click-in connections meet. Would you happen to know a part number for that? (Or at least point me to one?) It's not the one that connects directly inside the diff to the solenoid. I'm referencing the one side that will need to have extra wire soldered on, then routed to the toggle switch itself. I've looked everywhere on the internet so far but couldn't find anything.

    • @SteveRivett

      I think it is similar to a gasoline fuel injector connector that Dodge used in the past. Here's the parts diagram but I didn't see a page dedicated for replacement connectors. archive.org/details/JeepGrandCherokeeWK2010PartsManualOCR508Pages/page/n89

    Did you have QT2 or 1? I have a 08 GC with QT1 and i am looking into doing this also. I want a electric locker up front. Was planning on wiring the locker to a switch in the cab to actuate the solenoid for a full lock.
    Was wondering if you have any tips or know of any problems ill run into. I have 3.07 gears now, ill either have to change the rear to 3.73 or i was thinking of putting 3.07 gears in the QD2 front diff instead....
    Im still in the planning stage of this project, i think itll be awesome if i had a electronic lock in the front with something like a spartan locker in the rear. Trying to figure out the best way to get there. Any help is appreciated!

    • @SteveRivett
      @SteveRivett  3 роки тому +1

      I don't know much about the QT1 other than it doesn't have 4LO. If you have a V6 and want to go offroad you will want the 3.73 so that you have a chance. I wouldn't regear an axle, I would just change them. You will need to crawl under a few vehicles and see what differences there are between the drivelines or look at the parts books I have linked in my banner.

    • @SteveRivett

      I would look at the front differential mounts as they wear out. You should also check the condition of the fluid in your axles and fluid in your transfer case along with checking the universal joints and CV joints. It may be multiple problems all adding together.
