Some helpful advice The black filler is no. Build a stand for the saw. Don't reach over the saw especially when working on the floor. Get some good oldy type handtools,a plane or two, and couple of chisels. Trust the glue , it's a lot stronger than you imagine. Well done and keep thinking.
Thanks! Yeh, I'm looking forward to getting some hand tools and learning to sharpen and adjust them. I might feel like a real wood worker then haha. Cheers for the advice. If all goes to plan the next build will be a workbench with the saw built in, so will fix a few safety concerns as well as my knees!
That was a good looking recommended watch list :P Great learning curve and getting the first customer (and review) is a big step forward. The fact you made _anything_ resembling profit on the first build was a great achievement. You'll get faster and the builds will get better as you go. Plus, this whole video thing seems to be working out well ;)
Thanks mate! Yeh I was legitimately surprised when I worked out the hourly rate. Was expecting it to come in under $10. I'm enjoying the video side heaps actually. Although a big learning curve on the editing front. Lucky I'm not counting those hours haha!
Yeh, although half the time the blowers seems to just spread the fine dust around everywhere haha. Gotta have time to wash the cars if I get the blower out ;)

One lesson is don't buy threaded inserts from the big green shed 😁 Hammer Roo has quality inserts at a reasonable price. Alternatively, Rampa inserts are the best you can get, which are available from Salty Duck.

I'm curious whether you watch Laura Kampf - your music choices remind me of hers. Also curious what the neighbours think of your outdoor wood workshop...;)
Thank you! Yeh pretty happy with the end result. Will look to do more with thicker slab tops in the future. I haven't come across Laura before, but Im watching her videos now so cheers! Music im currently using is just from the youtube free library, mainly because im cheap haha. But if this youtube thing starts to make come $$ ill put it all back into production, and first up will be music haha! Regarding the neighbours, that are awesome about it. I get on with them really well thankfully.

Although it probably didn't seem like it in the video, I'm actually pretty used to meeting new random people with my job, and I actually enjoy it. But yes.... Adding in them basically reviewing your own work, yeh your right. It is awkward heh.
Yeh, I find its safer on the ground than on that flimsy stand that came with it. Hopefully Ill make myself a workbench in the not to distant future with the table saw built in.
I built all my workbenches and tool carts from pallets, found wood and discards I found on the side of the road. You cannot tell it from the look as after milling the wood looks like new. Keep up the excellent work.@@MelbourneMaker

David, David, David. I really didn't know where to start. So, i guess I'll start from the very begining. I warn all viewers now. This could be a long one. I'm sorry, but i have to ask. What possessed you to use black filler? I mean, come on, fella, even a basic DIY person knows that you use a filler that closely matches the wood colour or, at least, blends in. Okay, if your intention was to paint the table completely, then it doesn't matter what colour filler you use but you used oil, bad move. Next, is health and safety. OMG, any person with a basic DIY understanding, knows, always wear protection. Eyes, ears, hands, and feet. Who in their right mind does woodworking in flip flops? Are you crazy? You could drop a chisel, screwdriver, anything sharp or with a point and wham. Straight through the flesh into the bone. What about a hammer, falling onto your toes, ouch! Now we get to the real nitty gritty. It's about your saw. Again, why make things difficult for yourself. Kneeling down on the floor pushing wood through a high torque spinning sharp blade, which is not stable, is just asking for trouble. That saw should be on a flat workspace such as a bench. Oh, you don't have one. Okay then, a simple table, not used on the floor, idiot! You do know they sell stands girbthoae saws, so buy one. Better still, instead of making things to sell, try making a woodworking bench with securing holes and a vice. There are hundreds of videos on how to make a good bench. I even know of an Australian youtuber living in Canada who built a beautiful bench from pallets! It truly is a work of art. Then, you could secure your saw to the bench which would not only make it safer, but save your back! There are hundreds, if not thousands, of videos on UA-cam showing disfigurement or loss of limbs through inexperienced operation of tools and lack of commonsense, all caught on camera. I've seen a guy loose his fingers of his left hand because it slipped while plaining a plank of Ash. I've seen eyes splattered with metal filings and blood oozing out. Like you see in a horror movie. I saw a guy in Mexico who's eye got pierced by the nail from a nail gun. It shot out sideways like a bullet after entering the wood. It then ricochet 15 feet away into his friends eye. In another video, they eye was yanked out when a drill snapped in the drillpress. It went flying across the garage, bounced off the waste disposal down pipe ending up with the guy standing there with his eye hanging from its socket. You managed to break every safety rule in the book and for what? To have a UA-cam channel making you thousands of dollars a month. D...head. Kids see these videos and they are easily influenced. Have the decency to do the job properly. Use safety equipment and use the right tools correctly. Think of others and stop being selfish. Put others before your own needs. Be a good youtuber. To finish, that table looks... a four letter word starting with C ending with P. Have a nice safe chrimbo David.🎅🍻🇬🇧⚒️
Hi mate, firstly thankyou for taking the time. Ill try and explain rather than justify if I can. The black filler was me trying to create a poor mans version of black epoxy.... Which I did mention in the video was a mistake mainly due to the amount of extra work it created. While I'm disappointed you feel the end table ended up "cr@p" I get it, and never expected everyone to love it. I was doing it for myself and wanted to document the journey. For the safety concerns, I was only wearing flip flops while painting and oiling, so don't worry about that. I may be a bit thick, but I'm not that bad. I must admit, I have a bad habit of only sometimes wearing the eye protection, which I need to get better at, so appreciate the comment, however the other protection is all in place, so fret not. Regarding the table saw on the ground, yes. You are correct, and hopefully the next build will fix this issue, however for the moment, on the floor is for me safer than using the dodgy x style stand that came with it, and despite some of the angles making it out to be a bit worse than it is, I am aware of the blade at all times and never rushing so about as safe as I can be. TLDR: I appreciate you taking the time and you have some valid points. You didn't like the table and think I'm a d!#k... I get it, and you're probably not alone... Although as only my second piece of furniture and 5th video edit, I'm happy to admit I'm learning and want to document that journey with those who find some enjoyment from it and can learn from my mistakes. Also for the record, I'm yet to make a $ from UA-cam but appreciate the compliment ;)

I find the meeting the customer bit the most awkward part of the build.
