From his work as the drummer for the legendary band Nirvana to his achievements as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter with Foo Fighters, Dave Groh I is an alternative rock legend who needs no introduction. A longtime Gibson user, his previous Gibson signature guitars have remained extraordinarily popular and command premium prices on the used market - when you can find one.
Now Epiphone is extremely proud to once again partner with the Gibson Custom Shop on the release of the Dave Grohl DG-335. It features the combination of ES-335 and Trini Lopez model features Dave requested and that fans expect, including a semi-hollow ES™ body with bound diamond-shaped sound holes, a one-piece mahogany neck with an elliptical profile, Trini Lopez style headstock with Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, laurel fretboard, and split diamond inlays.
The pickups are Dave's preferred Gibson USA Burstbucker™ models, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position. They're wired to CTS® potentiometers, Mallory™ capacitors, and a Switchcraft® 3-way toggle switch and 1 /4" output jack.
This is one of the most requested models in Epiphone's history, so we are X-Static to offer this exceptional guitar to players across Canada!
An Epiphone Dave Grohl hardshell case is also included.

nice of Nate to come play bass for you guys.
Oh Sorry! I just made a similar comment before I saw yours😂. Good on ya Nate
Haha yeah, certainly courteous of him to swing by with his heavy schedule. 😂
It needs to be said how fantastic this product demo was. Full band and solo setting playing, great performances, phenomenal mix. On top of clear specs explanation. Better than any other big music store that has ever made a video of a product. This should be the template moving forward, absolutely loved this!
The constant cutting to the band was way too distracting. Just tell me about the guitar, show me how it sounds playing other genres as well. The review was pretty lame.
@@iambear.6526it’s literally a Dave Grohl guitar…
💯
Awesome video! So pumped to get mine!
I was thinking about the exactly same thing man! So true
This is how every signature model needs to be demo'd. Perfectly done tysm
We'll try to keep this up!!
The band killed it, well done. The DG-335 is going to fly off the shelves.
Thanks Tito!!
This was a love letter to the Foos disguised as an advertisement. The playing, the mix, the presentation, all primo. Well done!
Closing the video with Everlong was the cherry on top!
#1 product demo for this product on youtube hands down🎸🔥
Thanks Dennis! 🥰
I love the fact you guys have a full band demoing this. Anderton’s did this sometimes. This is kick ass
Thanks! Clearly, we loved it too! We'll try to incorporate full-band demos in future videos more often.
Really appreciate the effort of the band playing all those songs!
This is one of the best films you have done to date. Well done. Great run through of all of the tones available on this guitar, and how you were able to find a ringer for Nate Mendel was fabulous.
The band is absolutely amazing! Can we see more of these guys please?
Thanks! We have a full beginning-to-end performance of a song that didn't make it into this video. Perhaps we'll release it as a 'bonus track' down the line! 😁
I never seen any review better than this ! This is how you promote a product ! This is what we want !
Awesome showcase. Loved the KISS Guy reference in the intro for Monkey Wrench
Glad someone caught that!
Epiphany owes you some kickbacks. Best demo I’ve ever seen.
This is the best demo. Props for pulling out Miss The Misery.
Dang. And Come Back.
Even the bass player looks like Nate 🤣
But for some reason isnt playing Nate’s signature precision
No, although his bass does have the same pickups as Nate's, and if you look closely at the back of the headstock, you'll see Nate's signature because that's the same neck from his signature P-Bass!
I don’t even like Epiphones, but goddamn what an awesome demo and video. Every single store/UA-cam channel should be taking notes.
I subscribed within 2 minutes. That never happens anymore. So stoked to find this channel right now!
Thanks for subscribing!
Can't believe Nate came and played bass for the demo... what a guy!
This needs ALL the views. And I need that guitar.
Now that’s what you call a review. Where do I tap! 🤘❤️
This has got to be the best guitar review, makes me want to go and buy the guitar. I'll be sharing it.
Fantastic product review....well done gentlemen. Awesome sounding Guitar too.
What a awesome content! Really, really great! Cheers from Brazil!
Perfect Demo of a product. Keep this setup going.
Thanks Michael! We'll definitely try to keep this format in mind for future releases.
what a great review.. that demo in between spec reviews. damn
Bought mine from Long & McQuade. Thanks guys!
This format got a subscribe from me! Awesome to see gear being played in a mix and glad you actually used a Mesa like Dave uses!
Thanks Tyler! The Mesa Dual Rectifier certainly gave us THAT Foo Fighters tone, although Dave hasn't used Mesa in years, it was a good fit for the era of tunes that we focused on.
Now that was a helluvah demo from you guys. It will be very hard to equal such a masterpiece. Well done!
Excellent, thanks!😊
How fucking nostalgic I'd Big Me. Bring back the 90s, fucking incredible
This video made me pull the trigger. Mines coming at the end of March. Epiphone should cut you a check for this. Great video man
🙏🙏🙏
Such a cool review!
Phenomenal video giving all the details and specs plus putting the guitar through the different tones. The 335 has always been and will always be my favorite guitar. Thanks for sharing this video
You're welcome, we had tons of fun with this one!
I had my doubts about the epiphone version of the DG335, but your video blew my mind!! Now I just want to buy this right away. The whole video is pure perfection!
Im shure of that is the best new guitar presentation that i saw in my life.
Wow you guys are awesome and that guitar sounds amazing 🙌🎧👍🏻
I ordered one about 20 minutes after Epiphone announced it, and the second I saw it pop up from Epiphone's Instagram. Have waited for this one for a while! Super excited!
Full band demo!! That is the spirit, nailed it!
Thanks Martin! It was a blast to play through these songs.
Wow. Epic.
Thanks guys. This was just great.
What a great review! After this video I want this guitar so bad. You did a great job guys, great playing, awesome mix and nice explanations.
Great job and details on a guitar that will be a huge seller!
This Is How You Review A Guitar! Awesome!
Definitely the best video of this guitar on UA-cam! Super descriptive and to the point. The band sounded great!
Thanks Phil!!
It's just a great guitar...And you did a great demo with a full band! Respect for that.... I got mine too and I my demo is also coming shortly...
Great job to all of you!
Killer!🎸🎸🎸
Thanks Kev! 🤘
This is hands down the best video review of a product that I have ever seen. I bought mine a month before they were even out and since it came in I have been enjoying it so much. Kudos to the Kingston Ontario store for getting me this fine instrument. All their staff are so helpful. My first guitar was an Epiphone Et-290 similar to the newer Wilshire. I may get one of those 150th Anniversary Crestwoods yet. Go Epi
Wow, certainly high praise. Thank you so much! 🙌
The bassist looks like Nate!!!!!!
This is a great review and demonstration of the guitar. Also love that "Come Back" was featured.
Bonus points for playing Miss the Misery. Ridiculously underrated Foo track.
Sold. This was the most Epic review ever!!! Can't wait for it to arrive 😅
Band sounds f*ckin awesome . Vocals everything is sick
Thanks Tyler!! 🤘
Dude I absolutely love the way he made this video
Rather then sitting there and explaining for 20 minutes he makes it interesting
This is the best review I’ve seen so far
gotta be the best guitar demo i've ever seen
Man this is awesome! Can’t wait on mine to come in!
This was great!!
Thank you Tomasz!
One of the best guitar demos out there! All the sounds in the context and really great playing, thank you so much!
Awesome playing!
Thanks a lot!
Wow! This band are much better than the FooFighters by a mile! Nice Epi IBG👍
I mean, we really appreciate it, but there's a reason this band we put together is doing UA-cam videos and the Foo Fighters are selling out arenas. 😏
What a great video demo!.....well done men....BRAVO!....
This is how everyone should demoed a signature model. 🔥
I’m getting one soon it available in my country
Best review for this guitar on UA-cam. Great work, boys.
Daaaang! I definitely don't need this guitar but I wanted now
This might be my favourite guitar UA-cam video ever, the concept of an Epiphone DG-335 has been my dream guitar since I started playing, in May I’ll be picking it up but watching this over and over will put me over lol
Eastwood make one for half the price and looks pretty good! 🤘
@@mjb1308I remember seeing that a while ago, I passed on it after a friend had a poor quality Eastwood but I might have to give it a second look 😂
This very well may be the best demo of any gear I’ve ever seen. We get to hear the piece of music gear PLAYING MUSIC IN A MIX. thank you.
Thanks Matt!! 🙏
this is how you make people wanting to became musicians :] great playing all of you guys@!! i really enjoyed 2 listen
Heart-warming comment, thanks so much!
Great video team! Love it. 😎
Glad you enjoyed it!
For a moment I thought it was Nate Mendel on bass LOL
This is such a great demo!!!
Seems like you guys had a lot of fun with this video
I don't usually watch demos but I love how you made this. Much better then other channels who would be playing a blues solo on the guitar or something!
Thanks! We wanted to make sure we demoed the guitar with what most people would want to play on a Grohl signature.
Man, you guys nailed the FF sound! Well done. New sub here!
THE BAND!
THANKS!
Miss the misery was amazing. Great cover great guitar! Thanks ❤
Good lord - as if these guitars weren’t going to sell out already! This video just pushed the back orders to 2030
Close! Just August 2024 as of now for our next shipment. We have 200+ more on order, but actually 150+ are already on hold for customers for that shipment. Get your order in soon! 😉
Not sure who would pay $1300 for a damn epiphone lol idc whose name is on it. The Dave Grohl printed autograph on the back doesn’t justify $1300 lol
@@dusdincobain1191 in Canada - it’s $1800. A standard 335 costs $870 here. Trade in the pickups for $100 and swap on the burstbuckers at $400 leaves you with an $1170 guitar. Add hard shell case - $300 here in Canada (without a Grohl label even). That’s $1470. Add in upgraded hardware and wiring and a really cool custom paint job and a one piece neck, and suddenly you’re paying almost nothing for the Grohl autograph. Anyway it’s a moot point - you couldn’t buy one at $1800 now anyway because the market has spoken. They are worth more than that. Simple economics.
@@dusdincobain1191 You're right, it doesn't. But the one-piece mahogany neck, the mother of pearl split-diamond inlays, the all-USA-made electronics, the Gibson USA Burstbucker pickups, and the included premium hardcase does.
Woooowww! This is a beyond well done review!! Kudos to you guys👏👏
this must be one of the bests reviews ive ever watch...totally awesome!!!!
Great video and the band were on form.
Excellent review!
Awesome video/review/presentation, love the band-approach! ❤
Thanks!! 🥰
Great video!!!
Glad you liked it!
Ambitious! Well done, lads!
Thank you, we poured a bit more of ourselves into this video than usual.
Very well done!!!! 🔥🤙🏻
This is why I always need another guitar. Honestly, I’m about 5 guitars short of what I want. I know it’s an ad, but it sounds great.
The drummer is 😍
Spot on review for this great guitar!!
Thank you kindly!
Great job gentlemen !!!
Thanks Todd!!
@@longandmcquade You are very welcome !
I need one
Even got a Nate look-a-like
Was looking forward to seeing this guitar at a more affordable price point but $1900 for a made-in-China Epiphone is truly insane.
$1299 On the Gibson website and few others
@@ahhsgvr That is in US dollars, not Canadian.
That drummer 🔥🔥🔥great video!
opening riff played and recorded on Nick Raskulinecz's les Paul. got a nice chuckle
Great demo! What are you using (amps/pedals) to get that Learn To Fly tone from 4:10 to 4:36 ?
Hi there. I played guitar in the video. All of the recordings were plugged straight into the mesa mini dual rectifier. A couple of effects were added in post production, which were displayed on the screen. I was really impressed with the natural tones I was able to achieve with just the amp and the guitars volume knobs.
Awesome sound mate, ¿please wich settings did you use in the amp? Im very interesting in mini rectifier.
Thank you
@@JACOBO2068 I honestly can't remember. It was near impossible to see the dials on the knobs too so I don't really know. Just turned them until it sounded nice. Pushed cleans/Modern Gains is where you'll find the tones though.
Thanks Stephen. To reiterate, no pedals were used in the making of this video at all. All tones are the guitar plugged straight into the front of the Mesa Mini Dual Rectifier. The only additional effects used were in post - a phaser for the intro of Miss The Misery, UAD Galaxy Tape Echo for The Pretender and Walk, and some plate reverb for My Hero. So the Learn To Fly tone is just the bridge pickup, full volume/full tone, into the Pushed/Modern channel of the Dual Rec.
this is how you demo a signature guitar
Amp settings, please! Minus whatever post-prods going on, this sounds absolutely spot on. Appreciate it.
Hi there. I can’t remember amp settings verbatim, but the cleans were mainly on the pushed channel, and the dirty tones were all on the modern channel. Volume knob control was crucial for many of these tones. But nothing too special about the amp settings themselves
L&My upping the production budget!
No additional budget in terms of money... but yes additional time and love.
@@longandmcquade keep it up, the videos are awesome 👍
very good video layout, info, music, info, music. sweet ty
only thing, make subtitles available please, easier for non-natives like me =]
Fullband demo was tasty
Thanks, it was fun too!
Great band! 👍🏻
