For those of you whose phones already died before you had the chance to try this method, have you tried wireless charging? Even if you don't have a wireless charger yourself, I'm sure you could find a usable one somewhere close to home. The Starbucks near my home has them built into the tables, so that's where I'd go. Good luck. And thanks so much to the person who made this video! Your method worked for me!!
You absolute ANGEL thank you!!! Only had this phone a month i was so pissed! It worked for me. THERES ANOTHER METHOD FOR THOSE IT DOESNT WORK FOR YOU NEED TO TURN YOUR PHONE OFF AND PRESS THE 'ON' BUTTON AND WHEN THE SAMSUNG LOGO COMES UP QUICKLY PLUG YOUR CHARGER IN. It will charge this way also but will only work doing that method unless you get it fixed or get a wireless charger.
Thank you so much. I don't know why this thing came up as I'm in central texas and haven't gotten my phone wet. But with your help, it's working perfectly
kelloggswag same thing happened to me I never got my phone wet what I noticed is that when I text I put my finger on the charging port so that triggers the sensor
THANKYOU!!!!!! I know I didn't get my phone wet, or even near moisture. This saved me a long ride in traffic to the T-Mobile store. The guys there think you solve everything by a hard reboot, and, if that doesn''t work they'll don't fix your phone, they give you a reconditioned phone.
Accidently went swimming in the ocean with my clothes and S7 yesterday. Tried several methods on the internet, this was the only tutorial that WORKED, thanks man!
Hey this worked for me. Thanks a ton bro. The settings were a bit different in my s7 edge. I had to go to apps, thereafter select the "update apps" option. In that select "storage" and clear both the data and cache. It worked thereafter. Thanks once again. Great help! Keep up the good work.
Try an alcohol wipe into the charging point hope you sorted it it, had the same problem read some forums and tried the wipe first , then was considering clearing the cahce
listen to this guy he nailed it , I was so worried and thought I may may have to send my phone in to store ,but I did this and it worked right away thanks
Outstanding! I was at 1% when I found this. BTW, I cleared and stopped USBSettings and restarted the phone several times and the message came back after a minute or two. Only when I cleared data, forced stop and plugged in the charger without a restart did I stop getting the message. I'm above 10% and still no message. Well done, you've gotten me further along to fixing the problem permanently (...upgrade).
You are the man. Your video saved my life. It didn't work for the first time, but the second time after using hairdryer followed your instruction again and voilà. Thanks a lottttttttttt
I'm sorry, but that means you likely have a problem that cannot be fixed by simply toying with system apps. Your phone likely has legitimate water damage. This method works for people who do not have serious water damage and whose android water detection system is just acting dumb, like with my phone.
Lol forget that, thanks. I posted that 5 months ago. I literally took a vacuum cleaner from the closet, and used it on the microUSB port which fixed it like magic. I found that solution from an article a while back.
Haha, I realized your comment was from months ago. I wrote that reply geared more towards the bevy of people liking your comment. I'm glad to hear that vacuum cleaner solution worked, though!
Thank you! for sec I thought phone was water damaged. But it was only little bit water so I'm like how I was dead about buy new charger or something Thank you!
Thank you so much, you're a champion! I can confirm that it definitely works on standard Galaxy S7. My phone was dead for 2 days so I couldn't try this method but after persevering for 2 days it finally got about 3% charge which allowed me to try this method. Worked right away and phone was charging normally straight away. Thank you again!!!
Thank you so much! My phone accidentally got into salt water. And it couldnt charge until the next day. So the phone died! However I tried drying it with hairdryer and also put it in the rice sack overnight. Didn't work! Until I stumbled upon a comment that says I need to rinse it with pipe water. And so I did. and wait for it to try for a few more hours. It can finally be charged again. However not for all chargers! My fast charging samsung charger cannot work. So I tried this method you showed. Works like a charm!
Thank you so much for this video. I used my S7 edge to take photos under pool water... it wouldn't charge for a few weeks... tried the rice bag trick to clear the moisture and didn't work. Did what you recommended and now it's back to normal. Again, thank you.
My phone *never* got wet, and Verizon was gonna have me take it to Best Buy to let the Samsung version of the Apple Genius bar look at the thing. This fix worked perfectly, on a REGULAR S7 (not Edge). It's happily taking a charge right now. You saved me the drive, the headache, and all of the fooling around. Thank you for posting this video :)
stellrtkd yeah bro sometimes by just having your finger on the charging port when your texting it triggers the moisture sensor that's how mine came on never got it on water and it popped up
Worked for me, but was a bit different to find with there being some system updates. Honestly though, bless this guy. Ithink some of the other things I saw when looking for fixes were bs, but this worked. Thanks man.
Thanks a lot mate, it worked great. My port was dry but the problem was intermittent for the last week or so. Your fix got it charging straight away. Phone is normal Galaxy S7. I was going to take it in tomorrow to get sorted, don't have to now. Thanks again and Cheers from Australia :) PS, by the way the interface is a little bit different on my phone probably because of updates since your vid was posted.
Additional steps needed for me: 1. Ensure the phone is really dry (I let it dry 3 hours + check with a small piece of tissue that no humidity is present in the usb port) 2. Clear data of USBSettings as described in the video 3. "Force Stop" USBSettings 4. Restart the phone 5. The phone now charges well ! Thank you for the tip.
Worked for me too. It did take a minute before it started, oddly enough. Also good to note- I read that wireless pad chargers bypass this. Thanks for posting this though. Saved me. I was at 2% while watching this, just like another commenter.
this worked for my s7! Dropped my phone in the ocean Tuesday put it in rice intermittently and kept trying this way. It just now started to work! Don't give up trying!
I love you, this worked and for the whole process I was all like "Yeah, I'm positive this won't work. I'm just going to mess it up." Then it charged and well, thank you.
Bless you... Its Easter and all the shops are closed so i was freaking out when i realised i couldnt charge my phone cus of that stupid message (i have not been near water so i dont get it?), neways Google wasnt to much help, but i tried this and restarted my phone afterwards and bam!! Worked for me!!
Palle Nej I'm glad it did work,, same thing happened to me I never got it on water, sometimes by just having the finger next to the charging port it triggers the sensor
It worked for me and I really appreciate you showing this. I was lucky and checked this out while I still had 36% battery left. It's charging nicely now. My cache for that app had 12kb of data and now it's clear.
Thanks so much for this. My phone was exposed to a bit of rain and even after the port was dry, I was still getting the message. I was beginning to panic because the battery was dead and I don't have a wireless charger. I was able to get it charged to 3% by leaving it plugged in and off (the phone would charge for a couple of seconds and then stop and try again a few seconds later). That gave me just enough power to get in, clear the usb data and reboot. Now it is charging like normal!
I tried everything to fix this. putting the phone in rice, cleaning the port with alcohol swabs and tweezers, cotton, a hair dryer, and of course, following this video. nothing worked, so I stepped it up and gave the port a good scrub with a wet toothbrush. I then rinsed out the port, and dried it outside with the port facing the sun for about an hour. worked like a charm, my phone charges like new now. Hope this helps.
worked like charm bro 👍😉thanks man. I was distracted frustrated because this is a new freaking phone. never been near water but it gave me so much shit. but now it worked
Believe me or not this worked for me!!! i was talking on the phone when it was raining , wasnt raining fast tho, i got home try to charge my phone and got message saying MOISTURE DETECTED! and now this worked for me!
Omg nothing would work on my galaxy s7 edge and I was freaking out, I was at 2 percent and I was so scared. One tip, if someone is doing this, restart ur phone after and it will work. Tysm for this.
I used a hairdryer on the port first and was still getting msg, tried this and it worked! Edit: stopped working after about 10 minutes, have disabled 'fast charging' and its started charging again
Thx for the video. Just FYI 'cache' (pronounced like 'cash') is a method used by programs to hang onto often used data for quick access so it doesn't have to reload every time from a slower location(s). Instead, it will cache the often used data for faster access. If you clear the cache no worries, as the next time the program needs that data, it will check the cache first, and if not there, reload it from the SD card, internal memory, or similar. Take care.
thank u man it worked for me butttt after reseting the phone .... veeeeeeeryyyyyyy veryyyyyyyyy important note tha u can add to ur vid for extra information for those who their phones are dead they can attach the charger to the phone it will charge but so slow they can reach the amount charge to do the what u says in the video :)) i hope i could help
It's worked for me. After every reset on the planet. Nothing worked. Done this 10 mins ago and it works great. This all started after the software update but after doing this it's fixed it. Hopefully no more problems. Cheers Well it works for a few minutes then I get the message back up and won't charge. Back to square one. Worth a try though
CHACA RECORDS hi. Yes it's been working fine since I done it again. No problem so far. Charging fine now and no moisture detected issue since. So far so good. Been a good week and a half since I done it again and been fine since

Try an alcohol wipe into the charging point hope you sorted it it, had the same problem read some forums and tried the wipe first , then was considering clearing the cahce
Bruh xD I'm sitting here wondering how to charge my phone, totally forgot that i had a wireless charger xD
Omg thank you!!!! My phone wasn't even wet!!! I couldn't figure it out. Thanks!!!

Asif Pasha um glad it work for u also
If you restart your phone after the steps in the video it works.
Zegot thanks for the extra info
It worked. This happens to my phone when it has not been near any moisture. Thanks for the help
Sometimes it happens when you are typing one of your fingers is too close to the charging port that's how mine triggers it
This method did not work.
I'm sorry, but that means you likely have a problem that cannot be fixed by simply toying with system apps. Your phone likely has legitimate water damage.
