The coolest part was the drummer was the son of John the original drummer what a fitting choice for this event
This is in their honour, Kennedy center honour shows celebrate artists, the whole show are other artists paying homage to one artist/band per show.
President is usually there. The man with the white hair is Jimmy Paige, the guitarist, Man next to him with curly hair is Robert Plant, man next to him is John Paul Jones the bassist/keyboards. The original drummer died (John Bonham), the drummer in this performance was his son Jason Bonham, that made all the more emotional for the band, I am sure.
Heart yes! Great duo, the singer and the acoustic guitarist, definitely do some of their stuff.
T Rego actually, four were honored. Led Zeppelin, Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, and Natalia Makarova.
@@leannmiller7153 Kind of sucks to be Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, and Natalia Makarova. It's must have been like when Led Zeppelin was just starting out playing concerts with other more established bands - no one wanted to hear the bands that followed them!
@@leannmiller7153 This is true--Mr. Letterman was sitting to Mr. Page's left :)
zeps, obamas, lettermans, kimmels, yo yo ma ......................... the drummer is jason bonham, the son of original zep drummer john bonham. after bonham died, led zeppelin disbanded because they didn´t want to go on without him.
Do you mean Yo Yo Ma, the famous celloist?
@@alexakl6445 thank you
Heart charted singles in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's, yeah they were big...
Most impressive was their major presence on radio in the 1970's - talk about HUGE competition, including Led Zeppelin - truly peers amongst the greatest rock bands in history!
Heart always idolized Zeppelin and have been doing cover versions of their songs since before anyone heard of Heart. Heart is one of those groups who had two careers. Heart basically is Anne and Nancy Wilson. Sisters. Anne being the singer. Anne is considered one of the best female singers in rock history and Nancy one of the best female guitarists. Nancy has a great voice too but it pales in comparisons to Anne's. They had several big hits in the mid 70's to early 80's that were written mostly by Anne I believe but other members may have helped. They were mostly classic rock mixed in with some folk music. Then they died out. But in the late 80's they basically got rid of everyone in the band but the two sisters and now they did songs by professional song writers instead of Anne writing them. Also, they became more mainstream top 40 and glitz it up a bit in their stage costumes.. And they became HUGE for about 5 years. I mean like one of the top 5 rock bands in that period. I personally like their older stuff a bit better but the later stuff is very good too. And they had many more hits with the newer stuff. Heart is definitely a group you should consider reacting too. I think it' safe to say the are the premier female led rock group of all time.
Aretha Franklin also did a Kennedy Center concert with the Obamas in attendance. She sang Natural Woman & moved the President to tears. Sitting next to Michelle was Carole King, who wrote the song. She just goes nuts, she's so happy.
That was also excellent!
Ann and Nancy they were big in the 70's and 80s I love Ann's voice they did a great job on Zeppelin
There's so much to unpack here. lol First thing, I've been on board since I first came across your Pink Floyd reactions. Your rock reactions are great, keep up the great work! Next, I'll talk about Heart. Do yourself a favour and dive down the Heart rabbit hole. There's been 3 main Heart lineups, the late 70s, early 80s to 2000 or so, then 2000 to now. The two constant members are the two women you see here, Ann and Nancy Wilson. They're sisters and in their early 60s when this was performed in 2012. Phenomenal singers and musicians, Ann's widely regarded as the greatest female rock singer of all time. Definitely dive deep into their music. Fo their whole career, not just the 70s stuff. Imo, they sounded their best vocally and musically from 2000 on, but they've been amazing from day one. It was only the two sisters from Heart here. The rest of the musicians are the house band, but with the son of the late Zeppelin drummer playing here. The three men in the balcony are the three surviving members of Zeppelin. John Paul Jones with the short hair, Robert Plant in the middle, and Jimmy Page with the ponytail. Keep the classic rock reactions coming and I'm looking forward to seeing you do a tonne of Heart!
Next
Heart was known for great rockin' songs in the 70s-early 80s (heyday), featuring amazing vocals and righteous guitar by Ann Wilson and her sister Nancy. Barracuda, Crazy on You, Magic Man among their bigger hits. I remember seeing this when it aired. Great performance. Nice request Gerald, great reaction Faith!
mad i missed the live chat had to sleep hope everyone liked it this was awsome
@@stevenlafrance5036 Hey! I came in at the very end, so basically missed it, also. There was a shout out to No Pants LaFrance, though! LOL
As I mentioned above Heart was actually much bigger and more popular when the reinvented themselves in the mid/late 80's and had a string of mega hits that makes their heyday actually late 80's-early 90's. I do agree that I like the hit songs of the earlier period a little better but the hits they had in the later period were bigger and more of them by far.
when you´re pointing out that one guy, he´s jimmy page, the guitarist. the "main guy" robert plant is sitting to the left of jimmy in the paused picture.
And the woman between them in the paused picture is David Letterman's wife. 😀
@@bertpainter8385 boy, i don´t know why i even answer this. faith chase said in her reaction "the main guy". that is why they invented quotation marks for people who go to school.
Jimmy Page is the “main guy”. He formed Led Z and wrote Stairway to Heaven. Geeezz.
then it might be time you should try school. missing the point is a main problem in baboon country.
@@1944bwa missing the point
The Obama's were their to enjoy the presentations, but also out of respect to the artists that were being honored.
It’s the Kennedy Center Awards...the dudes they keep showing is Zep. They received the life time achievement awards. The drummer is John Bonham’s son.
Makes me tear up every time I watch this especially when Jason on the drums looks up to the sky before he starts jamming out! Like he's saying "This ones for you Dad"! Heart RULES!
This is about Led Zeppelin and Heart! Ain't got nothing to do with the Obamas!!!!
Yes that is the members of Led Zeppelin (minus the drummer John Bonham who died; that was Bonham's son on drums playing with Heart)... and yes yes yes, it's always good to have Pink Floyd on your mind!! :D *assignment: check out HEART!! \m/
Dude ... educate yoself on the music you're playing. Ouch.
You got to do your homework before commenting. Heart is a female rock group that had several hits in the late 70s and 80s.
HEART one of the biggest band pop rock 70’ 80’s , too many baladas to this band, was number one TV and Radio awards!!
the singer is Anne Wilson..you should react to their live version of "Alone"
Good reaction! Robert Plant, lead vocals and harmonica, John Paul Jones, bass, mandolin and keyboards, John “Bonzo” (RIP) Bonham drums and percussions, and the founder, producer and writer of most of their music, Jimmy Page guitarist, mandolin. Bonzo’s son, Jason Bonham playing drums in this performance, and in the reunion concert. The bowler hat was something Bonzo wore frequently. The guys were regretful that they had not arranged for Jason and his sister to be there for this event, not knowing he would be playing drums. You should watch the whole show, various artists sang several of their songs. Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz Foo Fighters.
Ann Wilson is 62 years old in this video. Let that sink in for a minute.
love to give you the choir, haha
The Greatest evertime Song by the Monumental Band named "LED ZEPPELIN" - they were just THE FOUNDER of HEAVY METAL - they were just THE FIRST ONE!!!
Their biggest EPOS was the song "Stairwy to Heaven"!
In this Honouring at the "Kennedy Center Honours" they were the state-in TWO WOMEN!
That's remarkable!
BETH HEART and her female guitarist performs the most Mucho-Song out of the late 70ies in women's interpretation!
Love this, I get chills whenever they pull up the curtain to show the youth choir. Really special.
Watch THIS:
The "Old Grand" formerly called the LED ZEPPELIN are sitting on the balcony and were showed to you as you remarked it:
When Beth Heart is to introduce THEIR song - some tears are rolling...
It's an HONOR, you know?!
This is, by far, one of the best reactions to this amazing performance.
The one you thought was Robert, was actually Jimmy Page (lead guitar). They are from left to right- John Paul Jones (keyboards and Bass Guitar), Robert Plant(vocals), and Jimmy Page.
Actually. Ann (The Singer) and Nancy (Guitar) Wilson are Heart and the drummer was Jason Bonham, the son of the late John Bonham the drummer for Led Zeppelin.
Just for a second - I've got a little special of BETH HEART!
Heart charted in the 70s 80s 90s early 00s and it was fronted by Ann and Nancy Wilson. Both of them are master rockstars and musicians, but Ann chooses to sing and Nancy chooses to rip on the guitar. Definitely go down the Heart rabbit hole!!! This was in 2012 and Ann was 62 here and her sister Nancy was 58.
Yes that is Led Zeppelin
Robert Plant
, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham and his son is on drums. The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture. The honors have been presented annually since 1978, culminating each December in a star-studded gala celebrating the honorees in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.[1]
What I think is really cool on these reactions is . Most guys and girls here are more into Hip Hop and Rap and never care much about Rock and Roll , maybe thinking this is music for white folks. The reactions whenever listening to a group and music that you all maybe would never in life give time to really think in hearing, saying wait a minute,,,,,How great this is,something I always say ::::people should always have an open mind. Love your reaction, you show how much you enjoy one of the best song ever.Keep it up there are many more. Also react to Marvin Gaye , Otis Redding , Bill Whitters , Timmy Thomas,A C Green and all great music. I mean real music , with great voices ,instruments and words with meaning.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are Heart. They’re sisters. This was a Kennedy Honors concert. Jimmy Page is the other Led Zeppelin member in the aud. The son of John Bonham Led Zeppelin’s drummer is play the drums.
There is a musician that plays an awesome rendition of Steve Winwood's Can't find my way home. His name is Justin Johnson. Watch how nimble his fingers are. He make playing this song look easy. I promise you, You will like it. Check it out.
3 of the original Led Zeppelin. John Bonham (drummer) died and in this honor to Led Zeppelin, his son Jason Bonham is plating the drums in tribute. The 3 men are Left - John Paul, Center - Robert Plant and right - Jimmy Page
Heart can sing ????????? Seriously ????????????????d At least you enjoyed the drumming.
The guy you thought was Robert Plant was actually Jimmy Page, the guitarist of the band. The guy on his right, (left as we looked) is Robert Plant. The guy on the drums in this tribute is the son of the original drummer in the band. Jason, is the son of John.
Magic man and Barracuda are their big songs.
Thanks Lee for the info😊❤
I'm asking the question because you are wearing a Columbia 300 bowling shirt.
only Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson are ever allowed to cover Led Zeppelin. They themselves were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame the very next year.
Way too many long interruptions. You are killing the flow. Save it for the end. 😡
There is a slightly longer version where Jason Bohnam (son of John ) gets introduced. And later in the video Robert Plant cries
If you want to dig into Heart further, as a musician you should definitely start out with their song Barracuda which is about their experience as women in the music industry in the 70's.
Btw Ann Wilson from Heart was 62 yrs old at the time which was on 2012. Her sister is Nancy Wilson
Robert Plant was in tears. Drummer was Bonham as son, Jason. RIP. Very emotional. RS
The drummer was also Jason bonham son of legendary led zeppelin drummer john bonham
Yes heart was huge but they always said in interviews that when they started out in the late 70s mid 70s that while other girls wanted to sleep with led Zeppelin they wanted to be led Zeppelin so take that and on top of that they're performing led Zeppelin's iconic number one song ever in front of led Zeppelin oh and also president and about a half a million other celebrities so no pressure it still goes down as the best cover I have ever seen in my life
Both women are 60 or close to it.....not that age matters but it makes this even better. They are ageless....
just in case you didn't notice..... somebody turned your rug upside down.
The Obamas entered two second side clip, or certainly not what this video is about
I'm probably going to attract some haters, but I think Heart did the song better than the original
Jason is wearing his father’s bowler hat and playing his drums as a tribute
Jason Bonham is playing a replica drum kit of his fathers.
You are one of the best air drummers I have ever seen. If you don't already have a kit, get one.
Just to clarify. Jimmy Page is the MAIN guy of Zeppelin. He is the guitarists. Robert Plant the singer, was a nobody Jimmy Page discovered in a local Pub when he was looking to form his new band. Robert Plant was a super raw talented snot nosed 19 year old kid when Page discovered him. Now Plant did grow into one of the best front men, singers and musical talents in his own right but Zeppelin is Jimmy Page first and foremost. he is the driving force and creative genius behind Zepp. Only when Page's heroine addiction became really bad did Plant maybe become the main guy but he was looking to leave because of Page's addiction and if he was going to leave it was because he knew it was Page's band and not his. At one point he was complaining to their powerful and intimidating manager Peter Grant about Page and Grant basically told him to shut up because it's not your band.
The President always appears at Kennedy Center Honors
be sure to check out some of heats hits like baraacuda, magic man etc..
Btw.. Obama gets to choose from a list of who gets honored.
seeing robert plants eyes tear up... nuff said..
This was 2012 at the Kennedy Center Honors
An amazing way to honor the best band and musicians there ever were!
Jason Bohnam is on drums. The son of late drummer John Bonham
I love your reactions, Faith. You’re such a positive young woman. I admire your work ethics, but please try to get some sleep for your own sake.
Rock Greats honoring Rock Gods!!!!!!
Love your drumming along!!
faith heart is awsome check them out
Hi Steven, miss you mate, 🙂🙂🐢
Heart - another rabbit hole for you Faith. enjoyed your reaction to this entirely
Yes; you're right....😊😁
Welcome to the musical wormhole!
You should do Barracuda by Heart
YOU ARE COOL!!!
Too much weed is not a good thing
SO GREAT!!!
Too much intro, you lost me
Ann and Nancy Wilson, The Wilson Sisters!!! Rockin' since the 70's
Great performance
Obama
Gitmo
Heart! Barracuda
i love this song
Awesome!!
barracuda
I could see (HEAR, actually) the Bee Gees doing this with Maurice doing Plante's and Ann Wilson's major part with Andy, Robin and BARRY in the high notes!!!!!!!!!!! at the end. Eeee! HA!!!!
Legends singing to gods...EPIC!!! So glad you watched this...Ann Wilson nailed it and the way the drummer looks to heaven for his dad at the end...I cried 🖖🏻🇨🇦😀
Ann and Nancy Wilson is Heart. Sisters. Barracuda, Magic Man are my favorite Heart songs. Thanks for playing this. It's my FAVORITE ever!!!!
Just found you, already subscribed! The comments give you most of the answers, so I look forward now. If you are looking for a musical journey, then my best suggestions are to follow the rabbit holes that are Tool and Pink Floyd. Others may disagree but I doubt you will be disappointed. Only thing to note is that some songs are designed to be listened to in a certain order. Anyway whatever you do, I wish you all the best, take care xx
You gotta react to Heart! They had many big hits in the 70s and 80s! Barracuda, Crazy on You, Magic Man, Alone, These Dreams, What About Love, Never, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You, Stranded were all big hits.
Heart performed the finale. Actor Jack Black introduced Led Zeppelin and narrated a video history montage. Four bands came out and played songs. First up was the Foo Fighters, followed by Kid Rock, then Lenny Kravitz, with Heart finishing the set.
Heart always has been big Zeppelin fans. You can hear the influence in their output from the seventies, and they have been known to play Zeppelin songs at their concerts stretching from when they got started and still doing it today.
Heart's 'Even it Up' 'Cook With Fire' 'Barracuda'
Aka Little Zeppelin
To give you some background of Ann and Nancy Wilson they are members of Heart. They are huge Led Zeppelin fans so they formed a band playing tribute to Zep. Than they started writing music and started to get acknowledgement get into the charts. So for those two this was a huge major honor to perform an epic song in front of their all time favorite band. I would say that Heart is the only band that can do Led Zeppelin justice.
Everyone recognizes the opening riff from Crazy on You, even if they don't know the song. They've all heard it somewhere.
For Heart, check the full 'albums' like Dreamboat Annie, and Magazine.
The young man who played the drums and made the look up to heaven was John Bonham's son, Jason. John died from alcoholism several years ago. He and Robert Plant were best friends and death really tore Plant apart.
You're a bowler? From which part of the country are from? I'm from Eastern Massachusetts.
It would have been more respectable to do a little research!
Hey Jules! It’s a reaction video not a term paper lol 😂 If I research a reaction video prior to doing it defeats the point of it being a reaction video. Tnx for sharing your opinion though have a great Christmas! Much love!☺️❤️
@@OffTapLife It doesn't take a term paper to know the names of the artists! Reaction is not knowledge and I can tell by 12k views and only 567 "thumb's up" that just maybe "fans" felt the same way! ✌
There is a lot of background noise inside your room , air conditioner ? In future perhaps turn your mike off during the videos .
This is pure genius . Goosebumps all over . ! I believe this is the greatest live cover ever performed .
Oh yes, definitely check out Heart! Barracuda is probably their hit you're thinking of.
Heart is amazing. One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
Faith great reaction it was a lot of fun. And yes absolutely do some heart.❤️😃👍🌼✌️
I think I could watch and hear this perfect performance all day long!
There are a few decent Heart documentaries. You should watch one.
