I saw those Wilderness Systems Kayaks on the side while you were doing the Pelican demo and could see they were new. So happy you posted this video! I love your videos, keep up the good work!
I fell in love. I'm gonna get one for sure... I'm jealous lol. Right on for the video I felt like I was there with ya!
So far, this looks the most practical for fishing in regards to the overall kayak design.
That 360 drive was awesome, but this is something I could actually get! Looks promising, keep up the great work!
Did you check the three videos Greg? I have one more coming 😁 I think I'm gonna get one
@@AliexFolgueira yeah I watch all of your videos! Enjoy iCast!
Nice looking boat, you picked one thing out that they really need to address - the side storage holders, they need to DRAIN out, who wants to FLIP the kayak over to remove water after it rains.
Keep the vids coming Aliex, stay Hot on the UA-cam Channel!
Sweet looking ride
Nice looking kayak. I have noticed most of the new pedal drives do not offer height adjustable seats. It is great in paddle kayaks to have the high/low option, but I think they realized pedaling is super awkward if your hips are lower than the pedals with a rotary style drive. The lower profile of the hobie style drives probably allow for a reasonably comfortable lower position.
People still complaining about the price of pedal kayaks. Sure it would be nice to see them cheaper. But understanding the rnd that goes into these products and to make them durable and feature rich seems fair. Plus cheaper than a boat any day.
rob s glad to see someone else with common sense, instead of blind rage about how expensive they are.
@@dp4auburn just reality. Upfront a kayak might seem ridiculous. But long-term it's clearly a winner on price. They both have their place. Hobie is the only one I may cringe a bit on price.
@Concerned Citizen yea. Not far off from a bike design. But each have different designs. Still have cost of development over time. Going through redesign adds up. It takes a couple years to design these pedal systems because they'll see some harsh use and people want maintenance free. So now you have cost of parts that go into these to make them highly reliable and to last for years. Now after all the rnd and parts are bought, now you have employees to make your product. Some having to have extensive knowledge of how certain machines work and to maintain those.... Now as far as price drops.... Hobie literally just announced they raised prices. About the only decrease in price I've heard was the old town predator pdl. Could be more out there. Just what I have heard. Also, yes. You could go buy a Jon boat for less than a big Hobie pa12, upfront. Over time you'll pour more money into it. Maintenance, gas, taxes, registration, anything trailer. Need a trailer hitch and light connector installed if your vehicle doesn't have it already. A kayak will last just as long as a Jon boat. Even the drive system kayaks.
Rob s I’m totally with you. I’ve been in the bike industry for years and what people fail to realize like Concerned Citizen.........is people got to earn a living and make a profit!! Also in order to continue to evolve with everyone’s veracity for the latest and greatest these companies have to spend lots of money in continuous refinement and retooling. Look how complex and expensive one kayak mold is!!! Further everyone is not Vibe and making their kayaks in China hence they cost relative to being made in the US as well.
I would love to have the latest 10,000 dollar mountain bike for 1,000 bucks but it ain’t going to happen🙄 Concerned citizen go ahead and buy your BPS john boat have at it, I’ll gladly pay extra for a sweet dialed in kayak!!!
@Concerned Citizen who is car topping a Jon boat with a motor? Lol. Pelican is using the old Hobie drive. No reverse. A lot of people want reverse. Makko seems like a cheap brand. Just like the perception pedal kayak. Get what you pay for. Hobie passport shows the get what you pay for. Want a cheap kayak? That's the quality you'll receive. And I can't even think of a state that doesn't require registration even with a trolling motor. Plus, I'd trust my 10ft pdl offshore before I'd trust a 12ft Jon boat. Not too mention my kayak is more stable to stand in. Not saying that Jon boats don't have their place.... But kayaks in long term are cheaper. And some even upfront are cheaper than a Jon boat
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job dude
Yep. This is exactly what I was referring to in a comment I made on an earlier video. I’m surprised though that they’re not showing the upgraded Radar series at iCast.
I have a 2018 Radar with the Helix pedal drive. How did they upgrade it? I know about the hatch and the propeller nut.
Man this thing looks nice and super stable. I also really like how the drive system retracts so far forward and out of the way. Not a bad price either. I think Hobie is going to loose a lot of sales with all the cheaper pedal kayaks comming out.
Nice! Pretty much the same length and price point as the Old Town Topwater 120 PDL. How does the Recon compare to the Topwater? Noticed it’s wider, did it feel more stable?
Old Town is going to get jealous...
Glad you showed this boat. The pedal drive clip in system seemed a bit awkward. Is that one of the things that will change?
Since I think they are at the same price point, do you prefer the Topwater 120 PDL or this boat? (I realize you haven't had as much time on this boat, but just a first impression.) I understand if you don't want to make a choice while still at iCast, so an idea for a video when you get home would be to do a review or compare & contrast on different boats at similar price points. Obviously the new PA 360 is the huge new thing but it's more than 2x the cost of these 2 boats.
These guys had no idea who they were messin with. good job Aliex.
Lol true
Finally got in a WS... do they have current products on display?
Nice to see that wilderness systems is expanding their line of pedal kayaks although I must say that this is not as impressive as the new mil drive 360
Ah, you met up with Jack! Come on up to Pensacola and go fishing with us sometime!
We should set that up for sure
That dude with the blue shoes !
I love the wilderness I have the radar 135 with the helix drive.. I think they killed it with the pedal drive.. only cuz in certain situations I just press the drive and it shoots up. Now we have to to it manually.. let’s see what happens when it comes out..
I like the more open design and useful tankwell
Do you like this more then the sportsman 120 PDL
The A.T.A.K series is pushing that 2k price without a pedal drive. And most other “well made” pedal kayaks are pushing $2,500 to over 3k. So this kayak made by Wilderness Systems for just over 2k to me is well priced.
John Webb atak 120 is $1399 and under
Nice what's the cost going to be? We will see if the xtra 2 inch width makes in open water off shore with that seat. Thank you
I think the guy said 2149.00?
Aliex, I want that camera arm with the yakattack fixture. Where did you get it?
This is the camera mount (affiliate) bit.ly/2NaT15u
Aliex can you please do an On the Water Review for the Wilderness System 120 Recon HD?
How does the stability compare to the Vibe Shearwater? Do you know where this kayak is made? Trying to choose between the two. The Recon is less expensive. What is you r opinion of the two compared or maybe another that is as stable.
Recon made in the us it will be more stable
is it to hard to peddle with that high seat ?
Was it fast? Faster than a Titan?
I have a pelican pwr 100, looking to get bigger kayak, would you recommend the recon 120 over the pelican?
recon 120 hd is a nice boat, very different from the pwr though, depends on what you are looking for, crazy thing is both are pelican brands haha
@@AliexFolgueira seems like the pwr has some give in the floor when standing how about the recon? I’m 80 years old
Fishing kayak racing should be an olympic sport.
Agreed
Hi. I start kayak fishing but it is very expensive in my country. I cannot buy because of foreign exchange. Not available in many varieties. Can you help me?
Sorry don't have international sales, but try to buy used?
@@AliexFolgueira It does not matter. Enough if I do kayak fishing
Aliex do you think the Recon is more stable then the Radar?
Ohh yeah
@@AliexFolgueira will it paddle faster then the Radar with it having the tunnel hull? I don't think so lol
I bet it does take effort to paddle when you have your paddle backwards
Just to start
@@AliexFolgueira Aliex, I love your videos but I've been missing a lot of the fishing in "fishing with Aliex"
Unfortunately, youtube doesn't like to show my "fishing videos" so I make less of them, one tomorrow though
Nice seat, but a kayak that doesn't come with even a basic paddle is lame. Go Well.
Derk Hawkins name one that does..........
@@greygoose117 Hobie
Yeah I think they should include a basic paddle
2k for a pedal kayak. Not for me, lower the price
Sunny Xiong *pedal kayak
Another yak over 2k that you pretty much need to trailer. Yawn. Just buy a boat at that price
Boat: initial purchase, registration, gas everytime you go out, insurance if needed, taxes if state does that every year, needs a trailer(along with those charges).
Kayak: initial cost...... Roof rack or trailer depending how you want to do it. Or if you have a truck, right in the bed.
Don't need to trailer it. I use to roof top my old pa12. Only got rid of it because it wasn't agile enough for the small waters I fish.
At times I would say the same thing lol. Comparing kayak fishing to boat fishing is like comparing rifle hunting with bow hunting each one has its own things about the way we get to the end result that can't be compared to the other.
