  • Lawn fungus that causes diseases like spring dead spot, brown patch, large patch and dollar spot is one of the worst problems to have in your lawn. In this video we share fungicides, cultural practices and lawn disease control options to stop an existing outbreak and prevent future issues.
We also discuss changes to watering and fertilization that will help reduce the likelihood of problems with brown patch and large patch in your lawn.
The lawn fungicides Headway and Caravan G are both discussed in this video. The pros and cons to each fungicide are covered in detail. That way you can decide which fungicide is best for your particular situation. The ideal time to apply preventative fungicide are the months of May and June. They will help control lawn disease and are easy to apply using your broadcast spreader.
The products shown contain azoxystrobin and propiconazole which are both very effective against common lawn diseases.

    • @RonHenry

The season long control refers to the insecticide. You really should only need to apply it once per season. If you're dealing with lawn disease, you'll need to follow up with an application of Headway for best results.

Ron, as we've talked before, I'm quite excited about this season using Headway G. Cool season grass here in Northern Virginia. That is always prone to fungus come late May early June in like others have commented. It is far easier to prevent it than to try to address it once when you have an outbreak..
I like that headway G has two different prime ingredients to help combat fungus. What I'm really trying to figure out is with my Scott's elite spreader. What would be the best spreader setting for prevention of fungus?
Looking to get it down around the middle of May and then repeat middle of June and July should carry me through the summer at that point.

Could be dollar spot Mike but if your grass is Bermuda or Zoysia, it shouldn't really become an issue if you're feeding the lawn enough nitrogen. I sometimes have those on my lawn early in the morning but by 10AM or so, they're gone. If you're worried and want to apply a preventative, then a fungicide with propiconazole like Headway G would be a good choice.

Hi Mark. Headway has helped my spring dead spot this year. I had more areas with damage last year than this year. In addition to Headway G, you'll also want to reduce your nitrogen inputs in the fall (October timeframe) to also help prevent spring dead spot.
