My 6th grade teacher had that on the wall above the blackboard. Odd thing is, I had never seen any directions for MOLLE before. Every manufacturer I have gear from just assumed we all knew. I had to actively search to find some instructions, and glad I did.
Good idea to do this video mate. First time i set up my webbing i did it wrong and it wobbled all over the place. Luckily i spoke to someone who showed me the correct way to attach it like you demonstrate in the video. So a great tip for newbies who are not military etc but who appreciate using webbing 👍🏻 as always keep safe out there mate
Thanks Grey, yeah hopefully this will help someone not to make the same mistakes i did. Losing gear was not fun... (but replacing it was 🤣🤣) hope youre well mate.

I initially thought the same as you until recently, then I stumbled across a video like yours explaining how it should be done. thanks for the refresh.
I have molle webbing on my backpack, I like the customization options, for example in one section I cut the middle attaching thread between that two molle loops to make a bigger loop, which I can now fit my axe handle through but the axe head doesn't fit so now I'm able to carry my axe on the outside of my backpack instead of in my backpack or hand.
Been looking for a new backpack for everyday use on Amazon and didn't know about MOLLE until "Tactical backpacks" started showing up in search results and I looked closer. This helped me understand the system before buying, and helped convince me that a MOLLE backpack is gonna be the way to go for me. Very useful video.

Most of my pouches are light and so slight movement not an issue. Plus most are velcro detectable with a quick connect to make sure they stay attached to the loop base that is attached to my backpack. Went ahead and changed them and they do not move at all. Not huge for my norm pack, but I can see this being really good for when I am adding a bit to my pack. Thanks, good info.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. You weave it. Amazing. How have I never seen this before?????? I always wondered why there was molle on pals pouches, and why my pouches were always loose and slide-y. Thank you for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is definitely gonna help. So for reference I have a molle panel that goes over the seat in my pick up & I've got 4 pouches on them all done the wrong way with a spare pouch that I've attached to a day bag essentially. I immediately changed the one currently on my bag but not the ones in my truck because I can use that to my advantage if I find myself in a situation where I need to quickly grab a pouch. If the need comes I can also quickly grab the pouches from my truck then correctly attach them to my pack (like with the previous pouch) then I can have a full set up on an otherwise light pack
Great video. I've seen so many use the MOLLE design incorrect or not use it for the most secure and efficient way it was designed to be used. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the demo, I wondered what all the extra straps were for. I primarily use MOLLE on my service dog’s vest. I will probably keep doing it the wrong way though as I have arthritis and have enough problems now🤪. Nice to know the right way though that’s why I found your video.
it should be totally obvious how to do it right... I just don't understand why most people just shove it through all the loops without weaving it in and out ...it's totally obvious
Not everyone is lucky enough to serve, or have this knowledge shared down to them by a relative or friend. And everyone thinks differently... puzzles / problems such as this dont come easy to everyone, including myself... sometimes its blatently obvious what the solution is, others not so much. I thought the same, especially as it’s called webbing. Turns out I was wrong and many people don’t know how to use it. So this video is indeed very helpful.
I had a Bergen for Christmas, the side and front pouches were incorrect. I have moved them to suit my needs, but looks as I’ll have to do it all over again! Thanks for showing me the right way. ATB stay safe 🦊
Clipping pouches to the pack PALS with carabiners can work really nicely in a pinch and if you don't mind a bit of "slop" but still have a more secure attachment
Excellent! Thanks for this very informative video. I, too, have been doing it wrong. Your explanation is very thorough and clearly shows both the proper technique as well as the benefits.
I know I'm gonna sound like a dick, but, man. Molle/pals made sense to me immediately. I don't understand why so many people get it wrong. Like how do you run a couple straps, wind up with a pouch flapping all over the place and not think "there's no way the military uses this, this can't be right." and look at it a little harder?
I would have gone the same as you, Scott. But when I got a new pouch for my Predator 45 I checked some vids and the Humble Trekker had done a vid to show the right way. It’s the only one I’ve seen so top marks to you for running a new vid mate 😉👍🏼 Doing it that way makes it easy to remove by pulling the tab too. We’re never to old to learn!
knowledge is the proof in the pudding...when its right its right. loosing that piece of kit could be the difference of a hard and dangerous time ie loosing a compass, Firestarter, top post and very informative
Thanks Mick appreciated buddy. Hope youre well. Been a while since we had a meet up. Hopefully not too much longer in lockdown and we can play out again. Atb.m8, hopefully see you soon
@@OscarOutdoors22 We just heard of the Queen's passing. So sorry to hear my friend. She was indeed a great lady and she will be missed. Condolences from the United States (Arizona).
I noticed how the webbing on the pouch doesn't always line up with the webbing on your tactical bag or plate, so it becomes a wonky, unless you just skip one or two weaves. I own a Brandit tactical sling bag and bought 2 small Brandit pouches for easy access to my KeySmart and knife. It is impossible to weave the strap through the top elastic band on the pouch. Weird, since both the tactical pack and pouches are from the same brand.
Scott - thank you. I can see I have a knife and two heavy pouches that need fixing in the AM. Like a light coming on! I am assuming this works better if the pouch is empty. TKS.
Sotp it 🛑 Im a rucker. Old school throw bags + bindles. Vietnam and Korea vintage bags. Maybe mainly because the cotton is softer. The polyester cuts up my fingers. Rothco has nice remakes cheap project bags you gotta make mods the straps and buckles on the backpacks not so good.
And if you have standalone MOD straps, you run one side straight through the PALS of the pack, and the other side you weave between the PALS of the pack and part you're attaching as shown here
@@OscarOutdoors22 im going to start a you tube channel eventually got the equipment for the phone you use just waiting to get out keep up the good work
It's obvious once you see it!! Really well done instructional video on something which is very difficult and "fiddly" to show on camera. Have a well earned Thumbs Up :-) and thank you.
The "Incorrect way" can actually be useful for things like First Aid & Tourniquet pouches so you can rip them out quickly and completely remove them from your bag to maybe hand them off to someone in an emergency, when time is of the essence but also maybe you're in a bug out situation & you're not sure who you can trust it saves you having to handover your entire backpack, perhaps your only lifeline for survival
IFAKs (even standard ussued ones) usually have an inner liner so you can open them, and deploy your kit quicky while the pouch stays on your gear. I probably would struggle more by ripping off the kit and trying to open it then try to find the stuff I need - open it on my gear, pull out the whole kit, unwrap it and use it is probably the better way.
This is great I’ve been doing it wrong too! I’ve just done a gear setup video and I keep my jetboil in a molle pouch... looks like I’ll have to change it lol!! Thanks for the video 🤘
Thanks mate appreciate that. Yeah i learned very quickly that i was doing it wrong.. 2 or 3 trips of losing pouches soon sorted ne out. That and a military mate. Laugjing at me.. 🤣🤣
Scott you’re a genius. I used molle once, years ago and didn’t like it because it was “flappy”. Seeing your instructions makes it so clear and will definitely give it another go now. Thanks as always.
So instead of a newly discovered technique, you are showing the basic molle technique... Which also happens to be the one that is usually on the instructions of most molle gear👍
Yeah mate. Passing on my mistakes its not apparent to all.. including me at first. And not all my Molle etc came with instructions.. so was a costly mistake to make for me. Didn't want others to lose out hence the how to. 🤜🤛
@@OscarOutdoors22 This video was helpful for me! i have a few backpacks with serval molle pouches and none of it ever came with this knowledge in the instructions
Two minutes in and I'm thinking 🤔 "Ugh, I think you're doing it wrong!" 😳 Then I realized you were showing it wrong on purpose 😂 Doesn't help my 4yo is being a loud dinosaur at the moment 😂
I found it painfully obvious. With that said, I've had to teach several others. Some makers of gear need to watch this video. I've purchased several pouches that were made of good materials, and stitching was well done, that suffer from not understanding how it works when either designing or assembling them. This includes webbing spacing, and strap and snap placement.
Did you know that in the time it took you to explain the intro and get to how to actually use this system, another video managed to properly explain and demonstrate how to do that very same thing?
It was thank you. This was filmed a couple of years back during lockdown. I have learned a lot since then. Thanks for taking the time to comment and offer advice. I really appreciate it

I had a Bergen for Christmas, the side and front pouches were incorrect. I have moved them to suit my needs, but looks as I’ll have to do it all over again! Thanks for showing me the right way. ATB stay safe 🦊
Sorry mate... but i suppose its an excuse to play with your gear... one of my favourite things to do is tinker.. 🤣🤣🤣
This really helped me get the most out of my MOLLE attachments. Thank you!
Glad it was of some use to you my friend
Thank you for the insight. I’m going to redo all of my Molle now.
👍👍👍
Thank you, huge difference!
Clipping pouches to the pack PALS with carabiners can work really nicely in a pinch and if you don't mind a bit of "slop" but still have a more secure attachment
It's harder that way but you're right, it's much ridgider when alternating while fredin it frew! Fumbs up!
Excellent! Thanks for this very informative video. I, too, have been doing it wrong. Your explanation is very thorough and clearly shows both the proper technique as well as the benefits.
Thanks Rick appreciate that my friend. Have fun re-threading it all.👍👍
Wow. This actually makes sense. I have a rip away pouch i use to carry with me when im at work. I'll definitely attach the backpart like this. Thanks
Glad it's been useful for you mate.. let me know how you've got on... (Sorry for late reply)
@@OscarOutdoors22 worked out amazingly. Thanks for the tips. Keep up the great work.
@richardsanchez5444 really pleased it helped you out mate! Mine live on my backpack now... Never have to take them off...
Dont sound like a d!ck at all mate. It was obvious once i been told. I saw loads of people who had it set up wrong.. so made this to help out
I'm getting into all this for the first time, your video is incredibly helpful!
Thanks mate appreciate that
They taught us this in bootcamp very helpful and very useful
I was today years old when I learnt this. Thanks for a great video!
No thank you for watching. Appreciate it!
Great Instructions. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you
I was doing it wrong too all this time. Thank you for sharing this! Cheers!
No worries 😁
Brilliant Scott I had a feeling I'd done mine wrong, cheers.
I would have gone the same as you, Scott. But when I got a new pouch for my Predator 45 I checked some vids and the Humble Trekker had done a vid to show the right way.
It’s the only one I’ve seen so top marks to you for running a new vid mate 😉👍🏼
Doing it that way makes it easy to remove by pulling the tab too.
We’re never to old to learn!
Thanks mate appreciate that. Just trying to share knowledge so.peoe can learn from my mistakes
OSCAR OUTDOORS I commend your wise words to the house 👋🏼😁👍🏼
Thanks mate
Hi Scott good video mate, loads of people now will realise they have been doing it the wrong way. Thumbs up bud 👍
Thanks Ian. All about sharing the knowledge. Its how i learned, someone pointing it out to me. So got to share the knowledge
I like the Molle system but I've been attaching my pouches wrong. Now I can try to doing it right! Big Thanks!
Done it! Feels and looks much much better!
Glad to hear that its helped you in the same way it helped me. Thanks for watching
Videos that make you go “hmmm”. Thanks for teaching this.
Excellent!!!
It .make sense, totally!
Chinese seller have no clue.
Perfectly explained and showed, thanks!!!
Out here teaching the CoD turned Airsofters soon to be Purge Guerilla kids into proper dapper looking soldiers. 💪🏽👍
I'm new to Molle, many thanks for the video!
🤜🤛
I'm just about to start using the MOLLE/PALS system. Nice one, good to know. Cheers 👍
Glad to be able to help Lee
So…today I learned something new. Thanks!!
knowledge is the proof in the pudding...when its right its right. loosing that piece of kit could be the difference of a hard and dangerous time ie loosing a compass, Firestarter,
top post and very informative
Thanks Mick appreciated buddy. Hope youre well. Been a while since we had a meet up. Hopefully not too much longer in lockdown and we can play out again.
Atb.m8, hopefully see you soon
@@OscarOutdoors22 if you can count best palls in one hand you can count yourself lucky ....i count myself "fortunate"
peace pall
Thanks buddy
It’s all about the weave. Also, install what you have in a balanced distribution. You can and probably will add more, rebalance then. Great vid kid!
Thank you David. Check out my backpack modifications video... Think I did alright with that.
Great video. I’ve just bought some MOLLE pouches and I’d have done it wrong prior to watching this! Cheers pal
No worries glad it helped you my friend
FYI a butter knife makes a good tool to help you thread the straps through the webbing.
Good tip thank you
Excellent video mate. Thanks for the careful explanation. I see on the news that your Queen is not doing well. Hope she gets better soon.
Unfortunately not. The Queen has passed away today. So sad such an advocate.
Re the video gld it was of some help to you 👍👍
@@OscarOutdoors22 We just heard of the Queen's passing.
Great job! I’ve been doing it wrong too.
Shoot i was doing it all wrong too, thanks the the well explained demo mate!💪
No worries glad it helped
Great video thanks for posting 👍
Thank you really appreciate that
Scott - thank you. I can see I have a knife and two heavy pouches that need fixing in the AM. Like a light coming on! I am assuming this works better if the pouch is empty. TKS.
Yeah mush easier to manipoulate an empty pouch but can also be done with a full one if you have the patience
No había usado antes nunca el sistema MOLLE, pero di por hecho que debería ir tejido, qrriba y abajo, es de sentido común!! 🤷♂️
So differant from having to hand sew 44 patt webbing to prevent it coming apart
Sotp it 🛑
Im a rucker. Old school throw bags + bindles. Vietnam and Korea vintage bags. Maybe mainly because the cotton is softer. The polyester cuts up my fingers. Rothco has nice remakes cheap project bags you gotta make mods the straps and buckles on the backpacks not so good.
Great video Scott, thankyou for this I didn't know any of that
Thanks very much👍👍
Best explanation I’ve seen, nice video, helped me out! Thanks!
No worries my friend
I've been looking at these bags and wondering whether the stuff must flop about, I'm so glad I saw this. (Bonus points for the accent, reyt good.)
Ha ha... thanks very much. Glad its helped you out. Good ol yorkshire... cant beat it. 😂
Great entertainment and good tips.
Thanks mate appreciate that.
And if you have standalone MOD straps, you run one side straight through the PALS of the pack, and the other side you weave between the PALS of the pack and part you're attaching as shown here
Thought everyone knew that but if you didn't now you do
Hi mate i learned this a couple of years ago after losing my pouch whilst out, that wasn't fun. But shopping for replacements was. 🙂
@@OscarOutdoors22 im going to start a you tube channel eventually got the equipment for the phone you use just waiting to get out keep up the good work
Thanks John.
What equipment you waiting on my friend. Maybe i could steer you in right direction, i also film on my phone
@@OscarOutdoors22 i watched your video on the equipment you use and bought it off amazon
The ulanzi lights and stuff? You won't regret it mate
Thanks Scott, very interesting. ATB 👍😊
Thanks Alan. Appreciated mate.
It's obvious once you see it!! Really well done instructional video on something which is very difficult and "fiddly" to show on camera. Have a well earned Thumbs Up :-) and thank you.
Thank you
Great video and explanations. Thank you so much.
Thank you
Thanks for showing the way to go.👍
Thanks for watching and taking tbe time to comment appreciated
I noticed I was doing the same too until I looked at some side pouches on my haversack and how they were connected. Seems far more robust afterwards.
Yeah definitely once you learn it seems obvious and brilliant at the same time its like an epiphany.. 🤣
Too true
I get what your saying but quality ifaks and med kits come with Velcro for what you just described
Other way around, PALS is the webbing and Molle is the actual attachment.
My bad lol
This is great I’ve been doing it wrong too! I’ve just done a gear setup video and I keep my jetboil in a molle pouch... looks like I’ll have to change it lol!! Thanks for the video 🤘
Thanks mate appreciate that. Yeah i learned very quickly that i was doing it wrong.. 2 or 3 trips of losing pouches soon sorted ne out. That and a military mate. Laugjing at me.. 🤣🤣
@@OscarOutdoors22 😂😂always thought the pouch hung loose... now I know why 👍👍
Ha ah... good luck getting it all sorted... its easier with empty pouches mate.. 🤣🤣
Hey man. Hope you're good. Great video, I bet many people have done it wrong too. Will certainly make use of this ✊
Hi Dan yeah im good m8, hope you are too. Yeah ive been doing it this way for 2 years or so. But i wasn't at first...but what a game changer
@@OscarOutdoors22 yea am good. Will come out with ya when this crap is over 👍

I’ve done this all the time I hate it when it bounces around
Spot on! Worth learning the correct way.
Nice one mate. Never knew this. Definitely done it wrong in the past! Sure will remember for the future. Cheers Scott
Thanks Owen. Yeah i think looking at this at 1 in 10 have.. so.at least im not on my own. Glad to help mate
not bad but if you want more tips and tricks just ask me i have bin doing it this way for about 9 years now for my work webbing ext
Hi mate id be intersted. Fonyou have a channel/ page i could follow?
Scott you’re a genius. I used molle once, years ago and didn’t like it because it was “flappy”. Seeing your instructions makes it so clear and will definitely give it another go now.
Thanks as always.
Thanks mate really appreciate that. Yeah gotta share the no-ledge... 🤣🤣 i learned the hard way m8
Didn't know that. Cheers Scott.
Thanks, ive known a couple of years now. But so glad i found this out. Wasnt fun losing the gear, but wont lie... was fun replacing it
Thank you so much! Great information
Thank you
Thanks for the video !
Well would you look at that! Who'd have thought! Thank you 😊
Thanks for that. Stay safe, atb.
Thanks brother
🤣🤣🤣 yeah ive got a rooster at the moment as hes learned he was born in the year of the rooster 🐓 🤣🤣🤣
Wow, turns out I was doing it right all this time
Awesome. Glad you were.. i lear ed from my mistakes! 😂😂
Taught well.
what about laser cut plates/carrier? Do i need skip some loops in between then?
I found it painfully obvious. With that said, I've had to teach several others. Some makers of gear need to watch this video. I've purchased several pouches that were made of good materials, and stitching was well done, that suffer from not understanding how it works when either designing or assembling them. This includes webbing spacing, and strap and snap placement.
Thank you Toby
ThanQ for filming
Thanks for watching
Did you know that in the time it took you to explain the intro and get to how to actually use this system, another video managed to properly explain and demonstrate how to do that very same thing?
I like to be thorough nd show where people may be going wrong... i know it could of been much shorter. Thanks for watching my friend
@@OscarOutdoors22 Everyone has their style. I was just making an observation that hopefully might be useful to you.
It was thank you. This was filmed a couple of years back during lockdown. I have learned a lot since then. Thanks for taking the time to comment and offer advice. I really appreciate it
This is very helpful, but I must say ten minutes for such a simple piece of information seems excessive
Perhaps…….but one has to take into account that Trump supporters may be among the viewers.
And they’re ……shall we say…….a wee bit slow on the uptake.

🤣🤣😂😂 hard to tell when Biden supporters still trying to discover their gender😜
@@cmjimenez83In referring to Biden, you must be, of course, referring to Joe Biden, more accurately referred to now as ‘Genocide Joe’. At the risk of sounding smug, watching American politics makes me even more thankful I’m Canadian. Trump is not saying he’s innocent. What he’s saying is that he has the right to be a criminal. And Americans should be VERY concerned.
