    By the way good topic , city riding 👌 I have the 2022 FXBB 114 with Orange tank badge and mostly black. I feel this M8 is designed for the outskirts of the city, the country roads along the coast of California, oh greetings from Central Valley California. You point out the gears and I agree with you. You point out the brakes on the M8 , I've been giving my brakes alot of consideration and what I can do to make them better. The M8 does require some skill to handle overall and works well in open roads not within the city. Good video bro !

      Agreed. Biggest issue I have with city riding on mine is the short first and even 2nd gear. The M8 wants you let those ponies off the ranch!!!

    The most fun I had riding in Philly was on our Honda Rebel 250. Super light weight, not a huge amount of power, small enough to squeeze past almost anything. It was a blast ripping that thing through the city and up the drives to Chestnut Hill from Fishtown.

    It's one reason why I love my sporty. It's perfect for the area I live in here in the Ozark mountains. It also does great in the city. I even had some older gentlemen on baggers telling me they wish they had a smaller bike like me. Even more so, I can still take it on an interstate road trip once a year and it does just fine.

    I can’t find them now, but I purchased air deflectors for my Deluxe. It was my first ever “upgrade” on the bike. They are made by Kuryakyn. I ride in Las Vegas heat all the time and what a difference on my legs!!! Well worth the money!!!

    Glad to see that stop signs in Philly are optional. I'll remember that when I get a chance to get back down there.

    I was out for a ride today on my 107. It was 22/23 here in the UK, so pretty hot(for us). I agree with the 1st and 2nd gear. 1st is too choppy, especially for tighter turns and 2nd is a little too lumpy. I try to do it in 2nd as Motorman suggests, a little back brake and a bit of throttle and clutch control. Not easy though. Also agree, the M8 gets hot, my rear cylinder deactivation was coming in a lot. The weight, I am ok with now after nearly 5k of riding. My bike is in it's element on open fast roads though. Great, informative video. Thanks

    I rode a ktm 690 all through Seattle qute a bit and the only reason i enjoyed it is because its a small bike that can go anywhere. Id rather ride a motorcycle through any city than drive a car through the city. Also you can park a bike anywhere. Super helpful

  • @saddle8bag
    @saddle8bag Рік тому +2

    It's not the fairing & bags that would bother me in the city. It's HDs heavy clutch and air-cooled engine that gets hot in stop & go riding. If I was doing that on the daily, I'd get an electric bike.

    • @TheMotoJawn
      @TheMotoJawn  Рік тому

      Heavy clutch for sure annoying in stop and go traffic

    If you’re going to do mostly city riding, then honestly, a scooter is what you want. My ‘04 Honda silverwing scooter is so much more convenient in stop and go than my ‘21 Low Rider S, Obviously. Even though my silverwing is a 600cc, 550 lb bike, it’s like a mini bike compared to my 680 lb Harley. That said, my Harley still gets the vast majority of use regardless of where I’m going just because it’s so much cooler and it’s more fun to ride. The torque on hand with that 114 is too good to pass up. But I needed a bike that I could ride for pleasure, around town, city commuting on the highway, and traveling, and the Harley softail is a great compromise for an all around motorcycle, imo. I also specifically wanted the extra weight of a big Harley cruiser here in Oklahoma where the wind is constantly trying to kill anyone on twos.

    • @TheMotoJawn
      @TheMotoJawn  Рік тому

      Yeah softail can get it done pretty much anywhere. I just hate city riding in general no matter what it's on 😂

      So if you rode mainly in the city (of Chicago say) but had only one vehicle, the Harley, you'd recommend the street bob over a other Harleys, like a sportster? I'm in the market that's why I'm asking.

    • @robbyclark6915

      The sporty is just fine if all you're doing is city riding. I had an iron 883 for over a year and besides highway riding, it did just fine, much cheaper!
