Yeah, this game is the only one since Grim Dawn that might get me to put in such a ridiculous amount of playtime. Plus, Grim Dawn has a new expansion coming, probably this year. Good times, indeed.
Also: when you play in a group with friends you build up "resonance" that allows you to trade items found during your play session. So playing together gives a great benefit and makes me look forward to building my 'Healing Hands' paladin build for the bios!
I actually found out via some streamer but noticed that no one on youtube really talks about it. Once you get to the point where you have to choose your spec you are being "locked away" from other specs. Yes, but you still can put points into other specs if you choose to but you can't fully max out the other specialisations.

@@GanjaManVids Me neither. I've blindly narrowed it down to 2 options based on what I enjoyed with Diablo. I'm excited to get started, but also nervous in case it's so complex. I did like D4 skill tree as was easier to understand. POE I never tried knowing I had to buy bag space and the skill tree looked huge like in Final Fantasy 10. Hopefully being a casual solo player, this will be good. Also don't like being rushed with seasons, but think I'm going the self find route and staying away from the Auction Houses. @@antedadic68I‘m not a fan of D4 either but it undoubtedly has similar gameplay to Last Epoch even if it’s not as good at delivering on aspects like build depth or crafting. And for all the hate it gets it is the most popular game in the genre so it makes sense to mention it.
Last Epoch is tied with Diablo 4, for me, in making weather-based lightning builds. Diablo's storm druid and Last Epoch's lightning-based shaman are ridiculously fun for causing tons of lightning strikes all over the screen.
Bought it a few days ago - just waiting for 1.0 so I can give it the full go. Still cant decide on a first character, though: Shaman, Druid, or Falconer? I love lightning so there's that, Werebear was fun in D4 and you can basically be Scyther, or I could cosplay as Quinn from League of Legends with a bird buddy.
Shaman is a natural disasters simulator you can make tornados and avalanches and lightning storms drop everywhere around you or even directly on you and you then just walk around deleting every enemey that get close to you Druid werebear is a very fun for hitting stuff hard and being tanky you can also have a hybrid build and change your transformation constantly from a werbear to a bug to a tree each one giving buffs to each other Falconer is unknown for now since it's a new mastery but if you like the idea of having one minion then it can be fun for you otherwise other rogue masteries will be better for you
I’ve had this in my backlog. And it looks great!! Huge shout out for offline play; there is absolutely no reason not to have it. This might be the next rabbit hole I go down
Did controller support get improved? As recently as last week, controllers had so many issues as to be almost unplayable. Evene WASD movement would be good. I know click to move is standard for many ARPGs, but I won't play without WASD or controller.
Are there 'social' events like d4's legion and world boss events? Or is it even 'social' at all, like how you see other people in town and out in the open world?
This game will be amazing. But what I think all action-rpgs that have multiplayer lack are raids, like in Lost Ark or an MMO. Raids allow for really fun mechanics that are not possible when designing a singleplayer encounter and it's really fun to coordinate with friends and other people to take down a boss.
Seems like Diablo meets Chrono Trigger. Seems like a great combo. Let me know if I'm wrong. Just loved seeing areas completely different in different eras in Chrono Trigger, also love the customization in D3... but didn't really like D3 overall. Not a huge fan of online/competitive games. Single player campaign of D3 was ok.
One thing last epoch developers do so good is there support for QoL features True offline Easy respec In-game guide In-game loot filter Faction system to make playing non trade viable Etc.
I haven't tried it in hardcore, so I don't know. I'm going to assume so though. You can exit Arena without dying though, so it's still possible to play. You would just have to be extremely careful if that's the case.

Does it have actual mechanical depth or is it yet another steamroller? Modern ARPGs are sooooo stagnant of being just one/two-button smashing braindead beat of IK or be IKed. Mobs being just walking extremely slow, passive and harmless hp bars while "elites"/"bosses" have zero mechanics that have to be reacted to.
Bad first impression. Horrible lag and load times. Online play only available sporadically with game-ending failure to initiate matchmake (dungeon/instance? ). Forced to play offline but the character you created inexplicably doesn't carry over to online once it becomes available. Cosmetics look like grade school art rejects. Necromancer looks like a burn victim. Just wanted to put this out there. You've been warned
I'm not a graphics snob, but there's something about the visuals that I just don't like. The sort of rubbery looking models, the font and UI menus are plain ugly to me, I hate the white outline flash around enemies when they take damage, the enemies and fore/background models look like they were designed by different people who didn't communicate and don't look seamless, and the enemies look like they're sitting on top of the setting sort of look like back in the FF7-9 days when the backdrops were 2D pre-rendered painting-like image and the 3D models were blocky polygon masses. I bought it 3 years ago in EA tho so I'm SOL on that one. I want people to like the game, cuz F Blizzard, but the visuals and hard-to-care-about story are a turn off to me personally. It's funny to me that POE, Diablo 3/4, and a handful of other randoms are always mentioned in the "if you like" or "this game is like" bits, when Grim Dawn is by far and away the best ARPG since D2, yet it is rarely ever mentioned.
You don't have to play seasonal at all my dude. There is a permanent server that will keep all your characters there forever. This isn't like Tarkov where you have no choice but to start over every time. Starting over is purely up to player choice.
@@bloomerz9020 don't worry about it even if you joined the limited server by mistake after the limited server end your character won't get deleted instead it will migrate to the permanent server and you can continue playing it there
Go outside and touch grass. 10/10 people you talk to your age will have 0 clue what this game is. Yet I'm sure a few of them will know what Diablo is. If anything it's underhyped. It's about to fully release, it deserves all the hype it can get right now.

I had an absolute ton of fun with spellblade. The good thing is that everything is viable and you can just pick what looks cool to you!

I haven't tried it in hardcore, so I don't know. I'm going to assume so though. You can exit Arena without dying though, so it's still possible to play. You would just have to be extremely careful if that's the case.
