That's the best analogy I've heard in a long time in comparing the gameplay to putting a high performance car on a road with speed bumps. That illustrates the frustration perfectly. 😃
You know that if they called it Power Blade, everyone and their mother would be including it in listicles with catchy titles like "Same Name Different Game" an such XD
Captain Saver sounds like a grocery store mascot that shows up in commercials wearing a super hero outfit and dramatically slashes prices while shoppers cheer. Or something. Does not make me think of a video game.
I like it. It's not quite as good as the first game perhaps, but still plays well and is competently made overall. I'd say everyone should at least try it out. When you look at most games from 1992, it would probably end up in the top 10... well, maybe top 20. (btw, the katakana in your title is wrong)
Sometimes I forget Power Blade 2 was even a thing, and I am even more confused why it got a Famicom release. It's stupidly "nintendo hard" which ruins the fun of wanting to see what comes next. Too much of the game is filled with instant-death traps and WAITING. God, the WAITING!!
I think you accidentally spoiled the next game with the katakana in the video title 😅 As for this game, I like the first one a lot but I could never get into this one. I would say it's just the difficulty but the level design definitely has issues that weren't in the first game (the waiting for slow platforms to move got old quickly for instance), and I didn't like the more linear structure of the levels.
Every once in a while this game pops back up in my mind and I have to check out what people think of it. I've beaten it myself and I'm quite torn on it. It plays good, but also hates you so much. The graphics are amazing but the aesthetics are so trashy. Definitely one of the games of all time

Let America mess with your games enough, and eventually everyone's a Duke Nukem...

You can't deny that this is the greatest Famicom Christmas game, though.
Even better than that Santa game for FDS.
funny enough I think the famicom shells episode was my intro to the channel! Interesting the cover art looks inspired by the US version's prequel.

the Japanese in the title of this video シャッフルファイト is for Shuffle Fight, it should be キャプテンセイバー for Captain Saver
Why powerblazer be looking like fat megaman lol
I just remember the Power Blade developer describing him as "squatty"
Why "shiafuru faito?" On the title? I thought it was "Kyaputen saver"

I think you have the wrong katakana in the video title

I want to like Power Blade 2, but the level design is terrible. Way too much auto scrolling and insta-death.
