- At the end of year 2 grandpa returns to see how your farm is doing. Normally people have made great progress by then, I have not. I just sleep for 2 straight years to see what grandpa thinks of my laziness. Afterwards I move through all the candle ranks to achieve perfection all in a little over a week. Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always!
actually, the player doesn't move in right after their grandpa's death, but eventually when they have a midlife crisis that might have occurred many years later, in fact it even says "many years later when the player is sitting behind that desk
And considering how fast the place fills up with trees and debris once the player is in charge, Grandpa must have left it in decent shape.

He is insane and certain that not only can he hear the dead dude's heart, but that it's beating loud enough for the police to hear, so he freaks out, axes the floorboards, and admits his crime.
I can imagine DF playing with the heart levels and the NPCs waking up like, "I-I don't know why but... I suddenly really love that Mumps guy..."

Maybe not everyone can, maybe just the people who weren't satisfied with their lives return. That's a pretty common thing ghost story, the ghost has something tying him to the world of the living, so he can't/doesn't want to leave before that's settled. So maybe Abby's relative is simply satisfied with their mortal life/too happy in the afterlife to return
And if the relative is from Pierre's side, then they probably aren't related to her anyways, since she's likely not his biological daughter

It's a little weird that no one ever mentions the grandpa I mean he clearly loved the valley and probably would have hung around with the other old folk. So he probably passed in the valley and no one seems to care.

I’ve only seen Evelyn and Lewis talk about him but that might be because them and grandpa are older characters and maybe the other characters moved in after he died.

Yeah, but after 20 years the House is magically there and didn't need repair or complete renewal.
Not to mention, that most of the things he would have have while been a farmer would've stay: barn, coop, well, maybe even bee houses.
But the most stupid thing is the house itself. It don't have anything - no kitchen, no bath or a sink, no toilet, no wardrobe, no storage capacity in any way(where did grandpa store his veggies for winter?)
I guess DF is onto some real shit detective investigation story. Grandpa was probably same tipe of men as Lewis - greedy, lazy, selfish bustard. But on top of it, Grandpa was probably drunk old fart who eats in the Saloon and wash in the lake, clearly not interested in farming what so ever, probably was in the relationship with Pam(what in itself is considered a crime against humanity)
I have no respect for him and i definitely don't need an approval of his ghost that speaks about himself in third person, while saying some high level bs about heritage that should've be taken buy another family member instead of you.

The creator is so nice a guy, and realized since his grandpa gave him the farm for when his life started to suck, that it would make sense to change the dialogue. I, for one, am happy with this change

okay so, how do graveyards work in the Star Dew Valley universe? because if you can summon your dead loved ones with a diamond and diamonds can be duplicated by technology, That's fundamentally going to change graveyards.
Once the player's grandpa is satisfied (4 candles) he can't be summoned again. So, I am guessing they can’t be summoned infinitly.

At the start you mention how grandpa didn't do anything with the farm. I'm pretty sure one of Abigail's dialogue (I might be misremembering) said the farm was actually abandoned so I would assume your character wouldn't have actually moved to the farm, since inheriting it, for at least a few months. Not sure tho
the grandfather died when the player was "just a boy" (or girl, or whatever), the player didn't open the letter for years after his grandfather's passing. plus, in all fairness, running a farm when you're getting old probably isn't easy, either. so, i'm pretty sure the farm looked like that because the farm was abandoned for a decade or so, at least. i think, despite the way mayor lewis talks about the player's grandfather, he was probably significantly younger than him.
Even still, the only buildings on the farm were a greenhouse and a small, one-room house. He didn't even have a kitchen for god sake.

I didn’t understand what the candles meant when he came back for me. I got one candle. I thought he would just come back again at some point and I’d get another candle. Something like that. To be fair, it is unclear how long the player character decided to work at Joja before moving to the farm. It could've been years. That's long enough for the farm to fall into disarray.

Hey DF, here's something fun to try: Duplicating the Mayor's Purple Shorts on the Switch version. Because somehow I got that to happen while I was holding a blackberry. Along with randomly exploding rocks in the mines. I think the Switch version still has a few bugs that haven't been worked out
You know what I've noticed on my farm? When it rains, the fourth candle looks green instead of blue. Don't know if it means anything (probably not), but I found it curious
In older version grandpa was pretty hardcore from what I've read. I wish I saw him like that.

Here is something interesting I found that you maybe could look into in a video. While using the item spawner you can get an item called "wood chair". By rightclicking it (without another wood chair in your hand) you can rotate it, and it changes the item itself. After 1 rotation it turns into a "wood chair" which looks completely different and also looks different in your inventory. By rotating further it will then turn into a seed maker? At that point you are able to destroy and collect the seed maker.
If you rotate the chair while holding another chair in your hand it will not turn into a seed maker, but instead it will turn into a mayonnaise machine. I have no idea why this is happening.
But wasn't it after Grandpa was super sick then died, then years later, the player comes along?
No wonder the farm doesn't have anything.

10:40 I think the wiki says something about the game prioritising a wedding over grandpa's thingy, playing it next time you go in the house. Therefore since the game crashed it probably still thought there was a wedding so played grandpa's visit delayed.

The Raven It depends on how you grow up. Maybe tmi, but when I was younger, I freaked out when people cursed because my dad would curse when he was angry. I automatically thought that people who swore all the time were mean and angry. Clearly I know better now, but people have different experiences.

When people talk about what state grandpa 'left' it in, he was a dying old man, who gave you the rights to the farm very very soon before he died, then years, YEARS later you go to the farm, remember what happens when you leave it for, say, 1 or 2 years, it's fucked, so for all we know he left it in great condition,

With how easy going Grandpa is I think I know what he was growing on his farm, the Trudeau special. That greenhouse was probably full of it
