That one piece of missable dialogue always reminds me of the picture of the guy on the moon seeing the earth get smashed to piece like "welp...I'm fucked"
I love how Final Fantasy XIV took the entire Light vs Dark saga they had going and, instead of finishing with simple motivations and "bad guy do bad thing" they instead chose to make the capstone moments of this last expansion a treatise on the meaning of life itself. Something they never directly answer, instead leaving it to each player to figure out for themselves. All this from a syntax error. Hermes asking "What is" instead of "If there is." The point in living? You get to choose.
Only FF14 would be able to make the line “They all slept happily ever after.” so chilling. This dungeon makes me so sad, yet it’s one of my favorites because of how well it’s done
The music really helps. It almost sounds hopeful, but theirs this edge of sadness to it that helps show how hopeless each of these worlds ended up being.
Idk what it is but holding the silence until the WoL opens their eyes and then kicking in the music adds so much imo Just the sense of traveling through nothingness to reach a place that has embraced nothingness. . .but fight on you must
i still think this is the best music in the whole game and the commentary...jesus, not gonna lie i almost cry all the times i hear it or play the dungeon...i darn love Meteion! best character ever
Such a great job editing this. I think the only thing that could of made it better would be having chat bubbles on the NPCs so you can see what they are saying as that really added to the atmosphere of the zone
While I had some issues with Meteion and her motives (like literally a sophomore in philosophy or anyone whose read Camus could defeat her logic) that moment in the dungeon with that lone npc saying "I've killed them all... I've killed... them all" hits hard. I wish ff14 did more environmental and subtle story telling

I will always say "Peacekeeper should have been the final boss of this dungeon!" and "If any part of this story of Meteion's is true, it's everything before the defeat of Caustic Grebuloff. @@squallofthedai The less Aether a being is composed of the easier it is for that being to influence AND be influenced by Dynamis. Dynamis exponentially increased the Meteia's negative emotions (despair) into psychosis and warped them into the Endsinger. The Starbird representing Meteion is uncorrupred at the beginning of the dungeon and after each boss it visually altered showing increasing corruption until the end of the dungeon when their hive mind has decided to end all life. Surely only a healthy heart and mind would come to the conclusion all life must be exterminated, right? Nope, but someone suffering psychosis would. What a missed opportunity Meteion was. Felt like such a random last-second addition to be a subverted expectation twist ending to the Hydiark line. After going 1.0 thru the amazing Shadowbringers, Zodiark is tossed aside like a goblin by a pathetic horrible villain and Zenos, both of which had power for unexplained reasons far exceeding what lore stated they should have had...then like "oh also there's this blue bird that's been here all along, surprise!" Imagine if they'd fleshed her out with a real xpack and not shat on everyone's expectations. At least they barely last-second explained her power even though Dynamis was also a last-second deal. After so many expansions NOT doing the WoW thing of adding new crap with no hints or precedents in previous content, they really lost me in this one. BFA had better story.
You immediately had a craptake argument by even suggesting that BFA was a better story, that was WoW writers taking the lore and wiping themselves with it. Oof.
