I interpret Believe as towards the listener, as in do I still believe in him and his music. There's been a few days this month where I just wanted to hear his music to give me a little more fire.
For context, em had faced a lot of criticism and after his hiatus he wasn't as big as he was. That plus social media becoming a thing meant he could see all the complaints. This song is to fans/"fans" and haters alike, a good few years after his recovery Sadly, this album, Revival (2017), was actually widely considered his least impressive, people heard 'Believe" and somehow didn't believe in him
I really like revival. It's kinda heartbreaking that songs like walk on water (where he talks about his fear of disappointing his fans) and believe (where he's kinda begging his fans to believe in him) got shit on. At least walk on Water got more love as time passed by
This album really is so good I get mad every time I listen to it knowing how people and the so called “fans” hated on it like there’s no tomorrow Especially when there’s songs like “believe” and “walk on water” 😭 how can they listen to these songs and then talk sh!t about them !!!!!!
@@PtylerBeats it's subjective, em would say that Relapse is his weakest, some people still insist on it being Encore.. imo there is no weakest album, it just depends on my mood
This song’s question is directly aimed at the listener. Especially the long time fans and those that used to be fans, and now only like his old music. Asking if they still believe in his music and him as an artist. And it’s a question that does not get answered in the track. Which I find very interesting. Like he’s saying, it’s up to you to decide. Walk On Water and Believe are two of Eminem’s best songs. Emotionally powerful, lyrically brilliant, sonically incredible, brutally honest; yet bravely vulnerable. Their brilliance marks a real artistic high in Eminem’s career, don’t care how many emotional cripples hate on them. All in my humble opinion of course 😂.
Agreed. Those two songs alone make “Revival” an album that deserves more praise than it gets. The way the run together like they are one long song 🎧 is brilliant. It’s like he’s admitting he’s not deserving of being placed on the highest shelf and is uncomfortable with that idea. He understands he’s a flawed person, yet he has people who treat him like a god. That’s very taxing even if the rewards are seem great. In my opinion, this older wiser version of Em is special.
this was on the revival album after walk on water which is why it starts so abruptly. if someone were to listen to the album in order it would go "bitch i wrote stan - and i started from the bottom like a snowman"

This song is probably to the ppl average eminem listener and ppl saying they miss the old eminem/shady and its the same reason Revival is probably the most hated album even tho some songs are trully masterpieces. Proof was a Rapper and one of eminem closest friend who sadly died in early 2000 and apparently proof is one of the reason eminem has assurance he talk about proof a lot
I believe this song is directed towards the fans, especially those who have turned their back on him because he isn't the same man he was 10, 15 or 20 years ago, and those who grew up loving his "offensive" lyrics who are now condemning him for being "offensive".
This track comes right after walk on water. So the “I wrote stan” part and after a song where he’s just been super vulnerable and shown you a window in to what’s been going on in his mind and life. This is kinda like the reaction to that.
I feel like Believe is a sort of sequel to Walk On Water. Almost a call and response. He deals with everyone’s expectations of him and how that makes him feel on WOW. Then he asks his fans, do you still believe in me? This is what I go through, and it’s worth it if you (the fan, not a casual listener) still believe that I can walk on water.
I think Revival was a real underrated album. I won’t even front on my first listen, I thought it was just ok but then when I sat down and really listened to it I ended up thinking it was a great album. And Walk on Water is a great song it has gospel elements in the song but it’s not gospel of course still a Hip Hop track, never understood the hate for it tbh. And let me give you a rundown of what this song in specific is about ~ Walk On Water is the first track off of Eminem’s 2017 album “Revival” and Believe is the second track off the album btw this album came before his 2018 album “Kamikaze” and his latest 2020 album “Music To Be Murdered By” so now Eminem starts rhyming from where he left off on the first track “Walk On Water”. Off the album Revival The track marks Eminem’s first take on a modern trap beat. His flow is slower and more unhurried than on previous tracks and features since his last album, which is notable as it corresponds to a passage on “Walk on Water”, the previous track on the album, where he mentions the public criticism of his rapid and choppy flow on recent works. The slower tempo also imitates the style of contemporary trap music. Yet, Eminem seems to denounce this style with his lyricism, making use of his trademark wordplay and imagery,Contentwise, the song is somewhat a U-turn to the previous song: On “Walk On Water”, Eminem was questioning himself and his ability to create new music that would appeal to his fans, while on “Believe”, he shows confidence and makes clear that he has faith in himself. Yet, throughout the song, one question stands above it all, and Eminem is posing it directly to his fans:Do they still believe in him? Now you might ask why well let’s take it back to when Em dropped “Recovery” Back In 2010 he announced on Not Afraid that he was on his sobriety path and that’s when this whole notion started and some fans/haters started saying “Eminem was better when he was on drugs” & “I like the old Eminem” etc. but Em since then has proved haters wrong with dropping albums like MMLP2,Kamikaze & Music To Be Music Murdered By And is The Best Selling Rapper Of All Time for a reason his longevity, wordplay, rhyme schemes, storytelling, flow, supersonic raps, great songs, relevancy etc.🙇🏽♂️🐐👑✨💯(Please React to Eminem “In Your Head” Lyric Video)

This is 2017. This is the older wiser Em reflecting on his youth and early career. He’s realizing that topping any success he already had will be almost impossible, and that the critics will just get louder. It’s an interesting perspective, because he almost sounds like a person who is battling doubt, and he’s never been lacking in confidence. The other ironic thing is that the album this is on “Revival” got lots of criticism. Many have called it garbage and his worst album. The reality is it’s quite possibly some of his best rhymes and lyrics. It was a departure for him in some ways, and there are always those people who loved the first album and don’t like when an artist decides to evolve into something different.

May I suggest Yak Thoughts by Young M.A or New Day with Ye and Jay?
If I ever let my music go public and I reach fame I would love to go head to head with em through disses

THanks so much Kenzie!😊👍
Also, I don't know if you have or not but you should do some reactions to Jelly Roll. He has some of the greatest music written in a long time a really long time. Some of his songs I would suggest are: Save Me, Can't You See, Smoking Section, Beautiful Disaster, and Creature...just a suggestion is all. However I think that you will really like him and his music.
Still waiting to do jelly roll! Hopefully soon!!😊👍

I don't know why this just occurred to me, but from a capitalist marketing perspective, reacting to to Tom Macdonald but only on Patreon seems reasonable after one Tom Macdonald is done on the 'Tube
