  • Hello,
    In this video I will be making Wednesday's Organza Dress from the Rave'N Dance epiosde of the show "Wednesday". This has been a two part video series, where the first video - not this one - will be of me making the shirt, and in part two - this one - I will be making the skirt. This dress is very complicated to make as there are multiple difficult components, you will need to know how to work with organza fabric, how to sew a collar, how to sew a placket and how to make ruffles. Although, I would not recommend making something like this if it is your first time sewing a dress, because of how difficult Organza can be, it can be done so do not be discouraged.
    I used a free sewing pattern from mood, which can be found here:

    In love with this ❤ I really appreciate how you explain the math for the measurements. Also those sketches look exactly how my sketches turn out so don’t feel bad😂

    Jenna made a tictoc putting on the dress and there were some surprises . The base if the skirt is satin and the 3 layers of organza were cut like shark bite - not straight hems . Plus - a light bronze paint was applied that sort of looks like a leopard print - on the reverse side . Everyone thinks it has lace on it but it does not. . The top (lower part) is also satin with lace over it. You can see the shinny satin through the lace. If you find that tic toc she posted - she is in a very bright room - wearing a full spaghetti strap body suit when she puts the dress on. I customize Blythe dolls and now I have to make that dress all over again .

    I didnt understand why you didnt make the underskirt possibly from a solid black rayon mix or even a jersey with the organza ruffle attached. The overskirt may have laid more to your liking but also it would not be see through. Same with the shirt collar ,waistband placket could have been made with a cotton material or same as the blend from the underskirt. It looks great. I just know how expensive organza can be and a pain to work with. Id love to see it made again but in a patterned material maybe upcycled materials from a thriftstore!

      I did strongly consider a solid under layer, but I saw Jenna Ortega wore some black slip dress under hers and assumed that maybe the original dress is see through as well. Also, I didn’t have anything on hand so 😅 but thanks for the input, its definitely a dress that can be fun to make from all sorts of things 😁

    it turned out lovely! quick question, what did you use to be able to take the skirt on and off (zipper, buttons, elastic, etc.)?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому +2

      There is a button on the waistband, and then the skirt is partially open, so that there is room to get it on and secure it with a button. So nothing complicated 😁

    Ooh loved the result !❤❤ BTW can you make a detailed video on how to make the ruffles for the sleeves?? I have a similar dress but It doesn't have the ruffles on the sleeves so I wanted to attach them myself... can you do it before 3 days 🥹🥹

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому

      Sorry I don’t have time for that 😕 I would just suggest searching UA-cam for how to attach ruffles to sleeves or how to make ruffles, as well as follow the method used for part 1 of this video series.
      I would make the ruffle at a length that fits the sleeve, hem all the sides, and then just topstitch it to the dress like in the video. I can help you in more detail if you write me on instagram @its.Rikke, if you show me the dress and potentially the progress if any questions should arise.

    Is there any way to attach the only the net and collar part to a already stitched dress?
    Thx❤

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому

      You could try something like this, and just make the collar more pointy:
      www.justcraftyenough.com/2014/03/project-add-a-peter-pan-collar-to-a-t-shirt/
      But without seeing the dress it’s hard to give a detailed answer. But nothing is impossible, right ☺️

      What about the net

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому

      @@XxPeachyCatsxX If you print out the pattern, and determine how much of the pattern is already in the dress you have, you can cut out the missing pieces and sew them on to the dress :-)

    How Did you make a top and mini skirt underneath?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому +1

      Thanks 😁 I’m actually just wearing a tank top and black jeans from my closet. I watched a reel of Jenna Ortega, and she is wearing black tights and a black bodysuit underneath. You can watch it here: instagram.com/reel/ClZp2pvpxZ6/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= 😊

    It looks amazing! Did you end up using all 15 yards of the organza? Was it 45” or 60” wide?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому +2

      Thanks a lot 🥰 nope, I think there’s actually 3 yards left or something. It is 60” wide though.

    It turned out so good! How do I calculate how much fabric I would need?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому

      Let’s see: you need no more than 6 meters for the two half circle skirts. I’d say a meter or so for the main part of the bodice, and then for the ruffles I’d say no more than 6-7 meters, if you also utilize leftover fabric from circle skirts and bodice. I bought 15 meters myself (so that should definitely be enough), and ended up using 13 of them.

    Is the underskirt a full circle skirt or a half circle skirt? Thanks!!

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому +1

      Half circle skirt 😌 both underskirt layers consist of 1 half circle skirt

  • @Al-Vr-al

    So the shirt and the skirt are separate?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke  Рік тому

      Yes, I have made it this way because I noticed on some of the pictures of Wednesday wearing the dress the shirt would bulk out at the waist, suggesting to me that they might be separate. But I might be wrong and in that case they can be sewn together 😁
