Hello, In this video I will be making a stretchy corset, that is slightly inspired by Dua Lipa's met gala dress, as well as Chanel. The corset is made with jersey fabric, which means you get a good fit without having to make too many adjustments. On top of that the PDF pattern comes in a range of sizes and for different heights. So, I really hope you can get a good fit from the start! There are...

    Thank u very much for the tutorial! May i ask would it be a problem if i would like the waist to be tighter? If not, how could i make it tighter?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke 4 місяці тому

      It is possible if you use stretchy fabric instead or put in a zipper maybe in the side seam. After drawing the line from the armhole to the bottom of the dress find the place on the line where the waist would go, probably 3-5 inches from the armhole and then take it in depending on how tight you want it. And draw a new line that curves like a body around the waist.

    Hi! I am a total beginner and have been following along with this tutorial. I'm finding it very helpful so far! I've created the dress pattern and went to the fabric store this morning to pick out a nice lightweight linen fabric. I got home with it and pulled it out of the bag, only to realize it's quite sheer when light passes through it. I didn't notice this at all when it was on the bolt at the store. I'm thinking I will need to add a lining to the dress. Any tips for how I can do that and salvage the fabric purchase I made this morning?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke Рік тому

      Great to hear it 😊 and sure, there are two things you can do in terms of adding lining. I found this tutorial on how to add lining to a sleeveless shirt, which is the exact same way you would add lining to this dress. Just make the lining an inch or two shorter than the actual fabric, and hem the lining before attaching it. m.ua-cam.com/video/6CS4ckhqT0E/v-deo.html&vl=en However, if that’s too complicated, you could just cut out lining pieces the same size as the main dress pattern, skip the facing pattern piece, and use the lining instead following the same steps. Only difference would be to baste around the armhole to make the lining and main fabric into “one” fabric. Then the rest of the dress can be completed the same way as in the video. Just make sure when sewing the layers together that they lay flat and are the exact same size. Those would be my suggestions 😊 let me know if you have further questions!

      @@Itsrikke Hi again! I decided it would be best for me to keep things simple since this is my first garment project, so I went back to the store to get a different fabric for this dress. I've gotten to the step where you fold in and sew the arm holes, but I'm not sure how to get the fabric to fold in nicely without clipping the seam allowance. Did you clip yours?

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke Рік тому

      I understand ☺️ I did not clip mine, but I don’t see a problem in doing so. Also, I don’t know what your seam allowance is, but if it’s on the wider side, this could be why it is difficult. You could try turning in a smaller amount of fabric.

    • @laureonwatson4360
      @laureonwatson4360 Рік тому

    Jenna made a tictoc putting on the dress and there were some surprises . The base if the skirt is satin and the 3 layers of organza were cut like shark bite - not straight hems . Plus - a light bronze paint was applied that sort of looks like a leopard print - on the reverse side . Everyone thinks it has lace on it but it does not. . The top (lower part) is also satin with lace over it. You can see the shinny satin through the lace. If you find that tic toc she posted - she is in a very bright room - wearing a full spaghetti strap body suit when she puts the dress on. I customize Blythe dolls and now I have to make that dress all over again .

    • @Itsrikke
      @Itsrikke Рік тому

      They won’t necessarily change, but instead of making a straight line between shoulder and neck, it should be more rounded. You might want to raise the point on the middle to make it less deep. But make a mock up and see if you like it 😊 12 inches is a 4th of the circumference, so the circumference will be 48” in total. Hope that helps 😁
