    Just crazy how much value for the money this ssd provides.
    I got the 2TB model for the equivalent of 130 USD in Norway.
    The price for hardware here is almost always atleast 25% higher and often more than that for hardware so I was impressed by the pricepoint.

    I want to add my voice to the chorus as this is now the channel I default to for SSD reviews and also watch your excellent GPU reviews. Concise, informative and lots of bar graphs, I love bar graphs. :D This is the SSD I ended up picking for my build as it was the only 4TB high end available and I am avoiding getting the 990 this time around. Glad I made the right choice.

I know the Samsung 990 was near or at the top in your testing, but I did not want issues with the device being destroyed by bad firmware so I decided to avoid Samsung entirely. I will see how the SN850x drive holds up.

      They are, and the Firecuda 530 was included in the roundup (and is included in an upcoming one). I just filter some drives to keep the graphs easier to read and the FC530 just didn't stand out in some interesting way.

    Hello and thank you for the informative video. I have a question about the PCMark Consistency stress test. I know you said it does not apply for majority of users, but under what real life practical situation does this test mimic? For example, if I game for long hours? Or if I game for long hours while transferring files and streaming at the same time? Does it measure the longevity of the drive in normal conditions?

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  Рік тому +2

      Gaming for hours doesn't really stress the SSD at all. You'd need to really hammer the drive with lots of reads/writes over such long periods that it's hard to call out any real workload tbh. If you're gaming for hours, transfering for hours, and streaming/recording/video editting at the same time, sure :P

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Рік тому

      That kind of test matters more for servers, if you use an SSD as a cache drive then it can see heavy workloads so the drive has to be chosen for consistency even if you're willing to replace it after a relatively short deployment.

    Hi Nada, (wat ben ik blij dat je geen tandarts geworden bent 😂). Anyway, I'm planning to upgrade my current PC to be used as an Audio-Studio / Graphical computer. This means that I need to upgrade (replace) my Motherboard, CPU and Memory. These components are currently the bottleneck in my system. This is the reason I found your channel. I might as well boost my startup / performance by buying an M.2 as boot device but... I'm glad I watched this video because I found out Kingston's flagship isn't compatible with my current MB (MSI B250M VD Pro). So I'll have to postpone this investment to a later date also. I'll be checking your channel to gather the best components for my future upgrade mission. In the past you already gave me some great advice about the "Vector RS" Case which I bought and still is a great (future proof) case. Let me end with giving you a huge compliment about your knowledge, your presentation / studio setup, and viewer support. You give my a secure feeling when I need information about Pc parts I'm going to invest in, in the near future (eerst ff sparen). Keep up the good work and I'll know how to find you (your channel) if I need advice. Have a great day😉.

    I'm still happy with my 3.5 years old nvme SSD from Silicon Power (512GB; 3400/2300MB/s).
    Booting a Xubuntu VM from the SSD or from OpenZFS memory cache, I only see a 1.5 seconds difference (8 secs vs 6.5 secs boot time). My CPU is a Ryzen 3 2200G with 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz). I have the feeling that the lz4 decompression of the VM-OS takes the most time. Windows is ~5x slower.
    To speed up the Win boot time, I probably need e.g a Ryzen 5 5600G instead of a faster SSD, besides my B450 motherboard only supports a Gen3 SSDs.

    Does the 2TB and 4TB version of the SN850X have a different controller or memory compared to the 1TB version? I see that in the specs it has slower read & write speeds (both sequential & random IO).

      Higher capacity drives has more nand chips so they can work in parallel. Thats why they perform better

    I need some help, the sn850x is 10 usd more expensive than the kc3000 while the fury is right in the middle between sn850x and kc300 being 5 usd cheaper than sn850x, which one is the best option? It’s either sn850x or kc3000. Should I spend the extra 10 usd for sn850x? Is it worth it? Or is the kc3000 good enough?

    Just got a 1TB Fury Renegade and seems like it doesn't have a temp sensor for the controller? Hwinfo64 reports only drive temp 1 (supposedly NAND) and drive temp 3 which is usually the controller but it's stuck at 35c for this drive, bit frustrating but I put a Thermalright HR09 Pro heatsink on it just to be safe, getting up to 35c ambient on a few days here and I wanna make sure it's cool even when it's super hot and fans are running slow

      I don't remember off the top of my head where the sensor is. Either way with any mid-size heatsink you'll be fine though.

    but i read in one forum that this brand have a very big failure rate for ssd. is that true?
    want to know your perspective for this, and is fury renegade still a good choice after nearly one year?

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  4 місяці тому

      I honestly don't know anything about RMA rates. I definitely haven't heard a lot (or any tbh) others mention issues with the Fury Renegade, so I'd personally not worry too much about it. No matter what you buy though, any SSD *can* break and you always need backups.

      I cut a couple of Gen4s a while ago to not crowd the graph. The FC 530 didn't really stand out in some meaningful way and it was generally quite expensive so it was one of the ones cut. But given the number of comments about the 530 I'll reconsider that :)
      It'll also be included in an upcoming larger roundup again as well.

      @@TechTesters It's currently 170€ for the 2TB version in my country (France), making it the cheapest top tier gen 4 drive on the market right now. In fact it's been competitively priced for a long time now.
      It might not particularly stand out in 3D Mark (why show just this benchmark?) but it excells at pretty much everything else. Much longer lifespan than all the drives on the chart, best write speeds on the market and still very much top tier in general.
