Hi Lucas, thanks so much for the comment! Can't believe how many likes this one has gotten!!! I really don't know what to say except thanks for taking the time to reach out and engage! We really love hearing how people are engaging in their own way with the videos because it makes it feel like a real community we are slowly building on here! ---Lou
Dear Lou & Dana Honestly this is one of my favorite videos you guys have ever posted, you’re very right about how we don’t really photograph or capture the places we live in as much as we do with places we visit. I love how you went back to a life you once had to see what was left after you had left. I love all the photographs that Dana took and how she tried to capture not only the places but also the moments and memories she recalled from her memory of your time spent there. I love how Lou is our eyes to the world you roam but also shows us how he sees Dana through his eyes. It broke my heart to see Dana’s face as she found out half of the photos were missing and couldn’t be retrieved. I find there is something very beautiful about how she blames herself by accepting her own shortcomings as a photographer (even though I believe she’s an incredible photographer and each shot is so beautiful) and the way Lou mentions other more likely reasons why the film could have been affected or developed well. I felt hope for a new and better day when she decided to not give up and still try to capture with art what she hadn’t been able to get from the camera. I love Dana’s fighting spirit and will to never give up in face of hard times and how she makes the best lemonades out of the lemons life gives you guys. Dana is a beautiful human being with an even more beautiful and graceful soul inside her and you Lou are the best husband and partner anyone could ever ask for. Thank you for not only sharing and documenting your adventures through life, but also for inspiring so many of us to go out there and not be afraid to face and challenge life and learn from it.
Wow Aaron, we are absolutely floored by your kind words!! Thanks so much for taking the time to write all that, we read every comment but its truly special to find times when people take the time to slow down and really engage with the story behind the video, Dana isn't home right now but I will be sure to show her this comment, she really was a little upset about the film and its so true what you say about her blaming herself when really it turns out I caused the problem by having her switch the lens to automatic at the beginning of the video which is a setting we've never used and might well have been the issue! Anyways, happy Friday, hope you have a wonderful weekend Aaron! ---Lou
I love their film stuff! their "how to shoot 35mm film" video really got me into film photography, and now im making my own film photography videos. They definitely inspired me a lot :)
I'm in turkey this week for a holiday...nd guess what?? I just finished my first roll of film ever, and it's all because of your videos. I never thought of shooting film in my country cause it's so hard here...but just like a fairy tail, after weeks of searching i found a canon ae-1 nd then i bought the only film in my city and here i am today shooting film for the first time in my life in Istanbul... It's all because of you guys so A HUGE THANKS TO YOU ! ❤❤
Wow, what an incredible story! Please comment and share the photos once you've got them developed, it would be amazing to see, of just send us an email ; ) We would love to come to Istanbul in the van sometime, and shoot a TON of videos there! ---Lou
The first paragraph of your blog has inspired me to photograph my daily life. It’s so true - we don’t capture our daily routine. Who knows, this could be what I think of in the future as “the good old days.”
OMG! you guys. I really connect to this one. the whole reason I purchased my film camera was to not just go out and take a bunch of pictures on places I've visited but to document the places I've lived. My family home means so much to me that I had to get tangible prints and film. that's why I love film. that's why I loved this video.
So glad you liked the concept Avery! We spent a ton of time brainstorming the actual story for this video because it really is so important to take the time to document your home and neighborhood! ---Lou
Dana, you’re no longer a novice photographer, BTW. Light, subject and composition were nailed. This is why we shoot. To capture a moment. To remember. To share. To create. Even though not all the shots may develop...you were there. We were there. Thank you both for this video. Good thing Lou’s video was a backup. But then again you guys are good at backing each other up. Safe travels.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Dana read this comment as well and was beaming, so nice to hear people commenting positively about how her photography has progressed even though shes only shot a handful of rolls! ---Lou
Actually, a lot of the time good photographers know what they will get. You make the decision to meter, set the correct exposure, look for composition and interesting subjects, then shoot and if you're any good, you can expect that your photographs will be accurate.
I felt so sad when Dana changed from happy to sad for losing photos :( Losing photos is such a bummer feeling cuz I lost images too when I shot a roll of 35mm.
yeah that was a real bummer, but luckily she bounced back and came up with the great idea of doing watercolors which I like even more than the photos we got that day! ---Lou
Finding this channel has been a complete blessing, it helps keep me on a positive track after my mom almost passing especially with the meditation video, I just want to say thank you for for your channel and lots of love from Nigeria.
Wow, what a beautiful comment! Can't believe we've been able to help you through all that, meditation really is such an enormously powerful tool, wishing you and your mom all the best from rainy Berlin! ---Lou
I was looking for some type of work that moved me. This was not only inspiring but was beautiful in its rawness. I love the different aspects of creativity with painting the memories that were unfortunately lost. Continue doing what youre doing stunning
Hi Daniel, thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment, there really is something special about those film colors, I don't know exactly what it is! ---Lou
Loved the video. I document everything, everywhere no matter what and over the last few years, I’ve taken about 26,000 photos average every year for the past 3 years. And then even more when I go on trips or whatever. I find it so fun to just look through my archives sometimes and look back on random memories.
This video made me realize I need to walk slower and appreciate the time I have left in nyc. Even if it isn’t by capturing it through lens but through my eyes, just slow down the pace and take it all in. Look up at it’s beautiful architecture and neighborhood stores.
I have bought my first camera because of you guys, I have took unbelievable photos and just so much I’ve done after I started watching this channel and all I want to do is travel and take photos but sadly I’m 15 but I just want to say thank you for making videos like this and if your ever looking for a place to travel to Spokane Washington is one of the most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest
Hi Cody! Thanks so much for reaching out : ) I actually studied at Reed College for two years before transfering to NYU so I know all about that washington beauty!!! We'd love to get a van up there one day and really explore because the scenery is unreal!! ---Lou
I can't tell you how happy I am you've made another film photography video 😊 I've been shooting film since I saw your very first video and it's now such a therapeutic way for me to pause in the midst of life's busy days. You guys are so great, happy adventures x
Thanks so much! We just shot another three rolls coming soon so stay tuned! REally hoped these ones worked out well and we don't have to improvise like crazy again! ---Lou
The same happened to me when developing a wonderful roll of a family party. Nothing left- it was devastating and yet I've learned to appreciate film for these bumps. Let me just say that I adore your work, it is by far the most beautiful and authentic place on UA-cam to spend a rainy day. And after re-re-re and rewatching these beautiful videos I load my own canon A1 and am happy to go out into the streets of my home again and again. Thank you xx Greetings from the South of Germany.
Thanks so much for the comment! It's amazing hearing all these stories from fellow film shooters, seems like everyone has that one bad experience, but that's all part of the process! ---Lou
LES is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city :)!! Your video reminded how important is to shoot not only when traveling but also where you live. Another Awesome Video!!
Thanks! We really love the LES, and miss it quite a bit from time to time, but the short trip really reminded us we couldn't live there anymore! ---Lou
loved it, especially the illustrations you ended up doing of the missing shots. Very inspiring and creative, for some very memorable photos and illustrations of you beautiful city. Hoping to make the trek there my self someday, you have a wonderful day and keep doing what your doing.
I was so happy to see you posted another one of these! It never fails to inspire me to get my A1 back out. :) I also love how both of your personalities shine in these videos - Dana is so comfortable in front of the camera, and you can't help but adore her and the constant positive energy she gives off. And even though Lou is behind the camera, there's so much expression in his camera work -- when he eagerly zooms in when Dana says something that he's excited about, or in the moments her really gets in close and focuses on her little details that show the beauty he sees in her. You guys are an inspiration - your work, your energy and your love for each other. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Thanks so much for the kind comment, we really poured a lot into this video but its connected with so many people and gotten such a special reaction : ) we are so grateful for all the support! ---Lou
I love how you shared your story and let me know that things dont always go as planned! its great to see how there are many ways were we can capture the moments from the past and sometimes its not always about taking the perfect picture! the ending 5 minutes made me really think back on a lot of things..especially the times i spent at university and so on! Kinda brings u home again! thankyou for this lovely video
Hi Zukie! So glad you liked this one, there really is such a special feeling to looking back on the past, and walking streets you used to walk all the time but haven't in years, glad we could bring that all back for you as well : ) ---Lou
I just love this art form and craft 😍 Whenever I think to combine words with a single photo to tell a short and sweet story, I get this warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. It took me years to finally get out there and share my point of view with the public. And so far I still can't comprehend the positive feedback I got and still get. It's hard no to loose ground beneath your feet as a result of it. I still have my little doubts and fears but they help me to stay grounded and appreciate even the littlest things in life. I haven't watched this video to the end but I really dig the pacing and form of story telling audio-visually. I'll definitely stick around 😃
Hahaha, what a great response Chris! Thanks so much for the support : ) We've definitely tried the whole vlogging thing but it just didn't work for our personality, but it does make editing a little easier and less time consuming! ---Lou
Thanks so much! I'm really happy we went back and took the time to capture this part of our lives, because they were really really formative years : ) ---Lou
you guys shooting at night on the bridge used aperture priority mode, iso about 400 so maybe the camera decided to use a long shutter speed and that's why it broke the picture. Because when you pressed the shutter, the sound you heard maybe only the mirror flips up and you thought it was the shutter's sound, then you move the camera because you think it has done taking the picture, while it wasn't and that caused an all blur, underexposed picture afterward.
Le Mark thanks man. This is actually really good stuff to know. I haven't done much film photography stuff since I was a kid but I'm getting back into it. I really appreciate when people who know more than me share their knowledge. Anyways, good wishes.
no problem man. I made this mistake when I first used a DSLR too, thanks god it's digital so I didn't learn it the hard way. Anw, after watched the video again, at 0:23 Dana turned the aperture ring to auto, this mean she's in shutter priority or full auto, either way, the camera can't compensated the lack of exposure of the 400 iso film, so it still led to an underexposed picture
Thanks for the input! I have to theories, one is that our battery was running low and recently just died so maybe that caused the shutter to not work properly. The second, which I need to do more research on still, is that the automatic setting on the lens shouldn't be used for aperture priority mode, which is what the old man at the photography store told us. Unfortunately there are a lot of guides online saying the opposite, but literally the only time the camera hasn't worked was on the auto lens setting so that does make sense to me, but I need to figure it out 100 percent to be certain! ---Lou
Lou, the Canon A-1 manual says to put the lens on A when using Aperture Priority. So I like your theory about the battery. Also, maybe it's just a result of underexposure. The video footage on the bridge looked quite dark and I'm assuming that your ISO setting on the video camera was higher than the ASA of the film in the A-1. I started shooting film during the early 1980s and I really enjoy watching you two going through the film learning process (but bummer about the bridge).
I love your videos, I'm sorry to hear about the last part of the roll. At least you guys still have the memories of going back to your old neighborhood.
Plus this video to look back with as well, which we kind of always treasure most of all above photos and other stuff ; ) its the actual experience in real life which matters most of course, but then the videos are really nice little memory reminders! ---Lou
Wow this is so great. You guys deserve so many viewers... I like the attention to detail and the work you put into each video. Almost like watching a short film.
The loss of the film was unexpectedly poetic. There you were trying to relive old memories to capture them, but more than the memories wanted to be documented they wanted to be remembered. Perhaps that is the form all history is the most beautiful. Free to provide an impression rather than be the subject of pixel peeping. To live in a moment is to occupy all of it's space, and that space is much bigger than 35mm. Photos are simply a quiet window to the past.
I always come back to this video I have no idea why this one but I love it. Came here to learn how to shoot 35mm film and I ended up becoming a huge fan of y’all. I love your videography, I can’t wait to see where ody takes you guys.💚💚💚🧡🧡🧡
Yay! I was so excited to see this video pop up on my subscription list. Idk, but the content you both procure is incredible. 😎 Lovely video!! Ah, I've had a few rolls turn out like that which is always mega disappointing but it's so sweet you were able to express your creativity in another way, Dana. Keep it up!!
Thanks so much Meleonie! I'm really so grateful it all turned out the way it did even though Dana was a bit upset because now I have her watercolor images to treasure forever instead of just some photos I might have forgotten about in a few months! ---Lou
Great video guys. Don't let that bad film experience get you down. Happens to all of us film photographers. Next time carry a tripod with you. From your video it look like it was getting dark. A tripod can help if you need to adjust your shutter speed below 60. Love you watercolor painting Dana☺
I'm in love with your videos and this is the first one I've ever watched. The cinematography, the kind of vlog style but so well done, the quality of the audio, your soothing voices, the message, the inspiration you brought to me to go out there and shoot, and write, and maybe paint, the melancholy of remembering that place for you... wow.
I went to Cambodia and visited the Angkor Wat temples and the beautiful beaches, only to discover that when I got back home all the film was overexposed. It was the worst feeling and I felt as though I had lost my entire trip. 6 months later and I now live in Cambodia. I can't wait to go back to the temples and create new photos. Sometimes we get things back we thought we lost, but it always comes back better.
What a story! That is a true loss, what a bummer! Luckily your in reach of going back now,, and hopefully this time around it will all work out ; ) Great attitude staying positive! ---Lou
I've worked in photography most of my life...from behind the camera to camera sales...and lab to dark room. If you take the negatives back into the lab and ask them to try and print those images...you might be surprised by what you get. They are very underexposed from lack of light...but there will still be an image. Hopefully they print them there in house and they do not send them off...that way they can adjust them the way you like...light and grainy to see the people or darker to show the lights. Give it a try...would love to see what you've captured!! Also, I really enjoy your videos...a lot! Take care.
I only shot film once while I was in Bristol but I was using my grandpas old Pentax and there's a light meter inside with a little light that's green if the light is correct, so thankfully I didn't get any overexposed photos. What a great idea to replace the gaps with paintings! You both are so creative and inspiring...
Same thing happened to one of my rolls of portra 400 :( I lost all photos from the roll, all the photos of my friends and family on the day of my birthday. I understand the sadness and frustration that Dana was feeling while she was going through her prints and not seeing the last half of her shots.
Yeah I guess that's just part of shooting film, or at least learning how, theres this very real risk it might not work, but then again hard drives crash all the time as well so theres no perfect answer out there, you just got to keep you chin up and not worry too much about little setbacks because longterm its no big deal! ---Lou
I have to show this comment to Dana, it really was a bit of an emotional whirlwind getting that roll back, and seeing half of it gone with the only photos we actually really wanted from that day! ---Lou
That's a real downer. Especially as you decided to shoot film to document your old neighborhood. It won't have been the security scanner that ruined it though. Ive carried expired film through scanners for dozens of flights and it's not done anything. The x-rays for hand luggage aren't strong enough to ruin film (at least under 1600 ISO). Awesome video again guys. You obviously had a great time revisiting New York!
Thanks Dave! Yeah not the scanner, that was wishful thinking on our part, I think I've figured out the issue, theres more info in the video description about that ; ) ---Lou
I love shooting in My City. I think I shoot more in the city than anywhere else. But I started shooting my digital camera like Film. Or at least treat it like film shoot more quality than quantity. Great job again. Part of shooting film is not knowing what will develop and what wouldn't. It's all part of the experience.
OMG this is the first video of yours I am coming across. It was so serene, your words are beautiful. I also loved how you incorporated square space instead of just throwing in the sponsorship from beginning, this is the only sponsorship video that has actually considering using square space! lol good job all around. Its also super weird I just came across this video because I am planning on going to New York in a few weeks and I wanted to shoot in film!
Thanks so much for the kind words Aleasha! We put a ton of thought into incorporating the sponsorship in an organic and honest way and really appreciate getting comments like this that acknowledge that work, especially since we really do love the website we've made and the freedom we've gotten creatively from squarespace, so that YOU! ---Lou
It’s the X-tray machines!!! I went to Nyc last year and I had two 35mm rolls that I shot. When I came back home one roll was fine, but the other had about 8 shots that were damaged from the x-ray machines that I had to go through at the airports and at a museum. They sell special travel bags online for transporting film while traveling. I haven’t bought one, but it would be a great investment.
Def not xray damage, X-rays will most likely not damage your film. I've carried 10 rolls of 100-400 ISO film through two scanners and none showed anything. I also carried a roll of ISO 800 through 3 scanners plus a huge scanner that was also used for checked bagage. That roll was fine as well. NEVER try to hide things from the xray. Just ask the security personel (if they say no immediately, then ask if they are sure), if the film has to go through, don't sweat it.
If it even was because of X-ray, the whole roll would be toast. Also, the lost shots are not overexposed, because that would cause black negs, not those clear negs as seen in the video.
Glad to see this lively discussing taking place, its always fun to problem solve technical issues ; ) I think I've figured it out, my theory is in the video description but I still need to do a little more research. --Lou
Awesome that you figured it out. Even without the pictures it was a very enjoyable video anyway. As a rule of thumb, if you shoot in Aperture priority, the camera is never going to pick the aperture for you!
These days on UA-cam, watching something all the way through is rare; even a 5 minute video. I had no problems at all watching this nor your previous stories. Your videos just check all the boxes: good story, great visuals, I really like the incorporation of sounds (in all your content) & maybe most important of all the above I really just like you both Dana & Lou. You just seem so nice & there's a calm, nice vibe to these videos. I look forward to the next story. *To Dana: as for the tea, it depends on how much actually went in! But if it was as little as you say, I most likely would have done the same!!
Thanks so much for the comment Russell! I've been making a lot of longer videos and getting a bit of feedback saying they are too long so its great to hear from someone that actually appreciates the length because as an editor its more than 5x the work even though its about 2x longer than usual, but comments like yours are such a nice reassurance! ---Lou
I'm an old dude and I have used film cameras for years and years and I STILL make mistakes and lose prints. Spent an entire day films with a Olympus Pen EE ( half frame camera) and lost the entire roll because the film did not catch on the sprocket gears correctly and never advance the film after each shot. You get twice as many photos on a half frame camera than the roll says. IE : 36 exposures per roll and you actually can take 72 photos. Long story short... I took 72 photos ( I thought) and got ZERO prints for my efforts. Now THAT was a real bummer. Live and learn. Don't give up and enjoy film cameras as much as possible because you never know when they will become a complete oddity that you only see in museums. Love your video by the way and both of your personalities!! Great souls both of you!
you managed to give me chills in between the adverts for squarespace. I guess that's what this economy kind of encourages. I don't have much of a problem with it, anymore. Long live Wild We Roam. & may squarespace contribute to a healthy economy. :) thanks for sharing with us.
Bummer that they didn’t all make it but this gave me comfort as a newbie if my first roll doesn’t make it it’s nice to see that sometimes it just happens It was also really nice to see you’re improv with paintings💕💕💕
This is so good. Love seeing the city through your guys' eyes. I live in the East Village currently right next to Tompkins Sq Park on E 6th! Keep it up you guys
What an awesome location! We looked at apartments there as well but couldn't find anything in our price range that wasn't half the size of the apartment we found in clinton, which really couldnt have been smaller, but you really just have to put in the time to find better spots and we were happy down on clinton in the end ; ) ---Lou
Wild We Roam Very true, it’s so expensive here! I found my place last minute and it’s actually a great size for the price! Keep up with the good videos, cheers!!
Heartbreaking at some lost frames. I finished my first ever roll recently, and am dreading getting it back and half of them being unusable. and I know for sure I missed a good few by not checking my lightmeter near the beginning of it. So difficult to get used to! At least the memories are good, and you found a new way to look back through the paintings. What a delight.
So much love for this video! I've never been to New York, it's still on my bucket list. I actually have family living in New Jersey who I've never met before. Great to see the Canon A1 again. I hope it wasn't the camera that caused the last part of the film not to show up. I had that with one of my camera's before of which I had just renewed the light-seals. Such a bummer if what you feel are the most amazing pics you took don't show up. I guess that's the analogue life :/ It's great to see you painting Dana! And Lou, your filming is awesome! Looking forward to the next story!
Thanks so much! Pretty sure it was all my fault by having Dana turn the lens to automatic in aperture priority but I need to double check that still. ---Lou
i love you guys. these videos are just so special, and i would say that you have one of the most underrated channels on youtube, but i kinda like it because it feels like my own amazing, little, secret corner of the world. i wanted to ask you guys though, have you ever thought about doing some kind of collaboration with another youtuber or just some other people? i think that could be really awesome
Well we've filmed with people like Fran Meneses and Anastesia (Emy) who are both huge youtubers but we don't have anything lined up for the near future, it really has to be a good match and happen organically because theres a lot of social climbing on these social media platforms and its important to stay true to yourself! ---Lou
love love love. Canon A1 brought me here. Which means nothing now after seeing a short glimpse into your fulfilled life. And i guess I am very similar documenting my everyday life. I develop and scn negatives myself. I think you should give it a go. All you need is a Jobo CPP2 Processor and chemicals. NO DARK ROOM NEEDED. that's only for printing. Stated following your channel. You have such a nice voice and a great storyteller. And hubby does some great videography and editing. Great team.
I get surprisingly emotional watching your videos, not sure why
But I love it.
Keep the good work

Hi Lucas, thanks so much for the comment! Can't believe how many likes this one has gotten!!! I really don't know what to say except thanks for taking the time to reach out and engage! We really love hearing how people are engaging in their own way with the videos because it makes it feel like a real community we are slowly building on here! ---Lou
Me too.
I think its Lous ability to edit amazingly well and the music they pic with Dana's commentary...perfection.
Dear Lou & Dana
Honestly this is one of my favorite videos you guys have ever posted, you’re very right about how we don’t really photograph or capture the places we live in as much as we do with places we visit.
I love how you went back to a life you once had to see what was left after you had left. Please do mooore 35mm stuff! Love it!
NobeGaming agreed!
Agreed agreed
I love their film stuff! their "how to shoot 35mm film" video really got me into film photography, and now im making my own film photography videos. They definitely inspired me a lot :)
Can't believe how many likes this comment got!!! We just shot 3 more rolls and videos so theres plenty more coming your way!! ----Lou
Ayy, looking forward to those vids!!
You guys honestly tell stories so beautifully, and I'm glad this channel exists.
Thanks Zachary : ) So happy so many people are connecting with this video, and with our old neighborhood! ---Lou
Dana is like a cutest human being still alive on the face of this planet earth. I hope your arm get better soon. Love you and your journey.
Hahaha, what an awesome comment! I showed Dana this one and she was beaming from ear to ear : ) ---Lou

I'm guessing your referencing the new maclemore song, which is now stuck in my head ; ) ---Lou
Both of your minds work beautifully together when making your stories! Thank you
for sharing them!
OMG! you guys. I really connect to this one. the whole reason I purchased my film camera was to not just go out and take a bunch of pictures on places I've visited but to document the places I've lived. Mama always said shooting film was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. :)
Serkan Reis if you don’t know what your gunna get in a box of Maltesers you need to seriously reconsider your life choices...
Actually, a lot of the time good photographers know what they will get. You make the decision to meter, set the correct exposure, look for composition and interesting subjects, then shoot and if you're any good, you can expect that your photographs will be accurate.
Haha love it!
Hahaha, love this comment! And all the funny/weird responses it brought with it : ) ---Lou
If you shoot manually - you know what will you get ;)
I felt so sad when Dana changed from happy to sad for losing photos :( Losing photos is such a bummer feeling cuz I lost images too when I shot a roll of 35mm.
yeah that was a real bummer, but luckily she bounced back and came up with the great idea of doing watercolors which I like even more than the photos we got that day!
Thanks so much Joseph! We put a lot into this video but we've gotten so much back from all of you guys and your amazing responses! ---Lou
Film colors bring up so many emotions
Hi Daniel, thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment, there really is something special about those film colors, I don't know exactly what it is! ---Lou
ABSolutely love how you played with audio in this video. Super captivating, thank you.
I've missed this series💜
We have many more film rolls coming your way soon! ---Lou
Every shot is so visually appealing.
Thanks so much! So glad you liked this one : ) ---Lou
Loved the video. I document everything, everywhere no matter what and over the last few years, I’ve taken about 26,000 photos average every year for the past 3 years. And then even more when I go on trips or whatever. I find it so fun to just look through my archives sometimes and look back on random memories.
Wow Luna that is a HUGE amount of images! Hope you have a good archival system so you can find stuff!!! ---Lou
Your videos just keep getting better and better. So beautiful.
Thanks so much! this one was a ton of work but we are so happy to have it now ; ) ---Lou
This video made me realize I need to walk slower and appreciate the time I have left in nyc. Even if it isn’t by capturing it through lens but through my eyes, just slow down the pace and take it all in. Look up at it’s beautiful architecture and neighborhood stores.
Doesn't get more analog than water color illustrations! Now even I miss your old neighborhood :( Great job you guys!
Hahaha, watercolor truly is the next level! ---Lou
YOUR 35MM STUFF IS WHY I WANT A CAMERA!!! Thank you so much for expressing the feelings that I hoped I could get out of putting this kind of effort.
Thanks so much for the comment Zak! Hope you're able to get that camera one day : ) ---Lou
---Lou
You guys got me with the shoot of the leaves sounding with the wind 🍂beautiful !
Glad you liked that little detail : ) ---Lou
LES is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city :)!! Your video reminded how important is to shoot not only when traveling but also where you live. Another Awesome Video!!
Thanks! We really love the LES, and miss it quite a bit from time to time, but the short trip really reminded us we couldn't live there anymore! ---Lou
loved it, especially the illustrations you ended up doing of the missing shots. Very inspiring and creative, for some very memorable photos and illustrations of you beautiful city. Hoping to make the trek there my self someday, you have a wonderful day and keep doing what your doing.
Thanks so much, dana really did do such an amazing job coming up with those illustrations! ---Lou
I love the illustrations :) and I love how you guys came up with the solution to fill the gap with illustrations.
Thanks! I'm so happy it all worked out that way because now I have a bunch of Dana's illustrations to treasure! ---Lou
I love your videos/contents. They're all very motivational and it gives me so much inspiration. Thank you to both of you! Kudos, Lou and Dana.
Thanks so much for watching! ---Lou
I was so happy to see you posted another one of these! It never fails to inspire me to get my A1 back out. :)
I also love how both of your personalities shine in these videos - Dana is so comfortable in front of the camera, and you can't help but adore her and the constant positive energy she gives off.
What a nice comment! Thanks so much : ) We both read this one and giggled! ---Lou
you guys are so underrated! i love the emotional commitment the viewer gets through your content, Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the kind comment, we really poured a lot into this video but its connected with so many people and gotten such a special reaction : ) we are so grateful for all the support! ---Lou
Aaah just what I was wishing for! It’s like you read my mind!
We always try and listen to the vibe in the comments while still doing our own thing ; ) ---Lou
OMG, I just saw like 2 minutes and I'm already in love with the production style.
Thanks Ramon! Hope you liked the last 18 minutes as well ; ) ---Lou
I am new to film photography.. and your videos somehow make this learning and getting used to (films) easier. Thank you!!
So glad we could help ; ) ---Lou
I'm always happy to see a new video of you guys in my feed! :)
What a nice comment to stumble upon! Thanks so much for watching : ) ---Lou
My heart always burns with inspiration whenever I watch your videos. Love your content ❤️
Thanks so much! We couldn't be happier with the response from this video : ) ----Lou
I really really like the natural feel of your content. It's so different than what most UA-camrs are producing. Keep it up!
Thanks so much! It's been a long process but we are slowly developing a style that makes me happy and proud of what we are creating! ---Lou
The music adds so much to your videos! one of my new favourite channels
Thanks! We spend a lot of time finding new artists on soundcloud who will allow us to use their music. ---Lou
You're always an inspiration! Thank you for all the beauty you share with us.
Thanks so much Natalia ; ) We are so greatful for all these beautiful comments we've received on this video. Have a nice weekend : ) ---Lou
I just love this art form and craft 😍
Whenever I think to combine words with a single photo to tell a short and sweet story, I get this warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.
Thanks so much for the comment! There's a lot of work behind this video but the response has been amazing : ) ---Lou
Man ohhh man! You guys are getting better and better!
Hahahah, thanks so much! I certainly hope so ; ) or at least we're just working harder! ---Lou
A friend of mine once described Dana and Lou as vloggers. "Not at all," I said. "They're filmmakers."
Hahaha, what a great response Chris! Thanks so much for the support : ) We've definitely tried the whole vlogging thing but it just didn't work for our personality, but it does make editing a little easier and less time consuming! ---Lou
Once again just such a lovely feel to your videos and pictures. I gotta visit New York!! Thanks for the post.
New York really is unreal! A little overwhelming the first couple days but once you get into the pace its amazing! ---Lou
This is a beautiful video essay! That smile is so contagious! Love the pics but especially the water paintings.
Thanks so much! I'm really happy we went back and took the time to capture this part of our lives, because they were really really formative years : ) ---Lou
Yeah you guys are the best, like seriously.
Hahaha, that's so nice of you! ---Lou
gosh, I just adore your storytelling in the videos!! cannot wait for the next one!
Thanks so much! Theres another snippet out now and a bunch more coming soon : ) ---Lou
you guys shooting at night on the bridge used aperture priority mode, iso about 400 so maybe the camera decided to use a long shutter speed and that's why it broke the picture.
---Lou
You guys always make me emotional
Aweee, thanks for watching Martina! ---Lou
Wow this is so great. You guys deserve so many viewers... I like the attention to detail and the work you put into each video. Almost like watching a short film.
I always feel so inspired! Thank you and love from Portugal
YES.
E viva Portugal.
Woooo! Loving all the love from Portugal, we will be there this spring in the van I think!!---Lou
It’s crazy that you guys don’t have 10 million subscribers. You deserve it !!!
Hahaha! That would be crazy, not sure I could handle it! ---Lou
the first sentence opens my mind, it makes me want to take a photograph my daily routine,
thank you !
So glad you liked this one Ricky : ) We have a lot more film photography videos coming your way! ---Lou
I really love this 35mm stories!
Thanks Andre : ) ---Lou
I always come back to this video I have no idea why this one but I love it. Came here to learn how to shoot 35mm film and I ended up becoming a huge fan of y’all. I love your videography, I can’t wait to see where ody takes you guys.💚💚💚🧡🧡🧡
Wow the video was beautiful!!!! I loved it, loved your pictures and your website looks magnificent!!!!!! Can't wait to see more
Thanks so much Patty! Hope you two had a nice walk today : ) ---Lou
---Lou
this has inspired me to get a 35mm Camera. I just love the photos that come out of it and it seems like such a personal process
Go for it! It's always an adventure ; ) ---Lou
Great video guys. Don't let that bad film experience get you down. Happens to all of us film photographers. Next time carry a tripod with you. From your video it look like it was getting dark. A tripod can help if you need to adjust your shutter speed below 60. Love you watercolor painting Dana☺
Hi Michael, thanks so much for the tip! We've never shot on a tripod but its definitey on our list! ---Lou
This is a piece of art guys.
Thanks so much Guillem, just a lot of hard work and of course shooting in NYC helps things look nice ; ) ---Lou
I'm in love with your videos and this is the first one I've ever watched. The cinematography, the kind of vlog style but so well done, the quality of the audio, your soothing voices, the message, the inspiration you brought to me to go out there and shoot, and write, and maybe paint, the melancholy of remembering that place for you... wow.
I've been binging your videos, specially the ones where you shoot film and im totally obsessed.
Thanks so much! It took Dana a really long time to make all the paintings but in the end it really felt worth it ; ) ---Lou
Same thing happened to one of my rolls of portra 400 :(
I lost all photos from the roll, all the photos of my friends and family on the day of my birthday.
---Lou
Don't do that to me guys. I almost cried. One of THE best emotional video I've seen this year. 39 years old tough man.
Great vid! Just checked up on your UA-cam last night! Glad to see a new one this morning!
And more coming soon! Thanks for staying in touch : ) ---Lou
This beautiful video was exactly what I needed right now!
Thanks for commenting Cecilie! It really was a special day in New York! --Lou
Wow ! Simply amazing ! Never give up ! Great job getting your memories back ! impressive !
---Lou
The light in the park photos is beautiful! I think my favorite is the one with the lamp post in it ☺️ also loving the Grit Rock!
Yeah I love the light one in the park as well ; ) and Dana's still rocking her grit rock!!
RangerTexas not the x-ray, probably the fact she shot Aperture priority and it was too dark
---Lou
Beautiful, you guys are. Bless you and I hope to hear more from both of you. ❤📷.
Thanks so much for watching! We have more coming soon : ) ---Lou
Great souls both of you!
you both are the best! I am so inspired now!!!
Glad we could help Andrew! That's always the goal! ---Lou
you managed to give me chills in between the adverts for squarespace. I guess that's what this economy kind of encourages. I don't have much of a problem with it, anymore. Long live Wild We Roam. & may squarespace contribute to a healthy economy. :) thanks for sharing with us.
the last bit added in was funny! great SquareSpace advert!
y'all have great personal style! it shows ❤️
Thanks so much Elizabeth! We've never felt particularly stylish but I guess the videos have a different vibe ; ) ---Lou
Bummer that they didn’t all make it but this gave me comfort as a newbie if my first roll doesn’t make it it’s nice to see that sometimes it just happens
It was also really nice to see you’re improv with paintings💕💕💕
What a delight.
love the cinematography and the blog post!
Thanks so much Ryan, really happy you checked out the blog post as well, we couldn't be happier with our website and with our new sponsors : ) ---Lou
I guess that's the analogue life :/
It's great to see you painting Dana! And Lou, your filming is awesome!
Looking forward to the next story!
Thanks so much! Pretty sure it was all my fault by having Dana turn the lens to automatic in aperture priority but I need to double check that still. ---Lou
What a beautiful video guys :’) love the passion for art you both share.
i love you guys. these videos are just so special, and i would say that you have one of the most underrated channels on youtube, but i kinda like it because it feels like my own amazing, little, secret corner of the world.
i wanted to ask you guys though, have you ever thought about doing some kind of collaboration with another youtuber or just some other people? i think that could be really awesome
Well we've filmed with people like Fran Meneses and Anastesia (Emy) who are both huge youtubers but we don't have anything lined up for the near future, it really has to be a good match and happen organically because theres a lot of social climbing on these social media platforms and its important to stay true to yourself! ---Lou
Finally another film video
Yup! And theres more on the way so stay tuned! ---Lou
I've really really missed y'all doing film based vlogs!!!
yeah so have we! Which is why we have three more videos like this coming soon : ) ---Lou
I love your videos guys, this is honestly one of my fav youtube channels!
Thats so nice to hear ; ) ---Lou
Great work! Love it. I’ve watched this a few times.
Love love love this, guys! So awesome. You guys are my fav UA-cam couple. 😂
Thanks so much Dakota! The response to this video has been truly amazing : ) ---Lou
What a powerful video. I want more of your content !!
Thanks so much! I wish this didn't take 40 hours to edit cause I'd be able to put more videos out ; ) ---Lou
love love love. Great team.
