My dad has an unused Canon AE1 that had been sitting around for years. I just threw a new battery in it and it was good to go!! I did have to watch some videos on how to use the thing because I do have digital and everything, but as far as the Canon goes, I just leave the f stop in A mode and let the camera decide on the scene. But it is great fun shooting film!! :D
I think I agree with many of the comments on here. This is a beautiful story and it is wonderful to see such young people getting so involved in film. Also, from a technical point of view they explained it clearly, simply and accurately. I think the girl said near the start that she always winds on the film after she takes a shot. I guess this is so she is always ready to take the next one. I would suggest this is not really a good idea as it leaves the shutter springs under tension and over a period of time they can weaken which will affect the shutter sped accuracy. Probably best to wind on just before the next shot. But, I absolutely loved this video and enjoyed seeing the fun and excitement being demonstrated. Well done guys.
Thanks for the comment and for the tip! We actually heard that from a few other comments after shooting this video and have since switched to winding right before taking a photo--which is better for the camera but also leads to a lot of moments where we forget that the camera isn't wound yet, so it takes some getting used to I guess! But it's nice to be doing things properly and taking care of the camera so I'm sure we'll get used to it soon!! Hope your having a nice weekend : )
Thanks, you too. And don't EVER lose that excitement and remember, we NEVER stop learning and picking up things from tips. I have been taking pics since about 1958 (Yes, I really am THAT old), both film and digital, and still learn new things all the time. By the way, I think your pictures were great.
This is a cool video because it isn't all technical. It also conveys the overall experience shooting film, which is what a lot of us old fogeys (lol) remember from our film days. Loved watching everyone try the film camera for the first time!
Was expecting another one of those hipster nostalgia worship videos but was pleasantly surprised to see genuine sincere enjoyment from someone learning to shoot film! I don't shoot film a whole lot anymore but man I still get that same goofy excitement getting a freshly developed roll back! Keep shooting! Also, you actually shot some really nice images!
hahah thank you so much!! this was such an awesome comment to read. inspiring me to take my camera back out today!! We're hoping to make a film video in the coming weeks so please stay tuned :)
ahh we actually just ordered all the chemicals so will be starting so soon which means that we can make way more film videos this year sinc we wont have to pay or wait for pricey film developing. So so excited!
Omg I love this video, it is the most informing video about film camera on UA-cam. However, it only covered some features of film camera, I really hope you can make another one.
Plant Based Traveler I was thinking about hyperfocal, the relationship of hyperfocal with Aperture, and depth of field. But now that I rewatch the video few times and surf thru the net, I kind of understand. I just want to say THANKs. It is very unfortunate that there is very little information out there about 35mm film cameras. This gave me a clear and descriptive understanding of my camera. I have rewatched the video many times. Lol Btw, I have a Yashica Electro 35 GS.
I'm so happy that you found the video so useful!! We really made it as an excuse to finally make the time to teach me how to use the camera and I am so happy that we did!! I've rewatched the video a bunch too and definitely want to make more in the series. I think the main thing that can't be truly explained in the video is how important and helpful practice really is. I want to start developing at home, practicing double exposures, playing around with black and white film, and so much more. Thanks for watching!!! Can't wait to hear what you think of our future photography videos :)
Didn’t think I was gonna watch this video all the way to the end. I just realized I was laughing and smiling when she started taking pictures of her friends. This is amazing, you guys are great. I’m buying myself same exact camera next week. Thanks for sharing.
This was so artsy and well put together. I'm in love with your found love in photography! This was a beautiful mixture of documentary, tutorial, and personal journey!
I love how utterly personal to you guys this video is. It's the perfect blend of technical and artistic in video creation. I especially noticed the part when she was looking at the film for the first time. The camera was purely focused on her, not the film, because it outlined the most important thing about the situation which was the feeling it gave her.
ahh yes!! that is so so exciting Will :) Can't wait to hear how your photography adventures go!! Once you get a roll back we'd love to see some of the photos - jsut email us at plantbasedtraveler@gmail.com #plantbasedforevaaaaa
This is one of my favorite videos on UA-cam, it's simple, has great photography and looks good, music is great and it's just a normal video that isn't even trying to be like everyone else, it's like they took the camera, went out and filmed whatever they found interesting. She's incredibly beautiful, the pictures she took are absolutely breathtaking and her reactions add so much to the video. I honestly wish I could frame this video.
Thanks for the amazing comment Aaron! You are too kind : ) We really did just run around trying to find friends we could shoot real quick, it was one of the best days we've spent in Berlin! Sorry for the delayed response, hope you're doing well! ---Lou
Wild We Roam No worries Lou, it turned out pretty great, It's actually thanks to this video that I ended up buying a Canon A-1 to start my film photography journey. Needless to say, no regrets at all thank you so much :)
Thank you so much for watching Lily :) I just check out your youtube and saw you're UK based - we're heading to London next week so any vegan friendly recs would be so appreciated!!! xxxx
ooh my only word of advice is be wary of the wild food cafe- it's in such a beautiful part of London but it's very very expensive for very mediocre food !!
I got into film photography about 6 months ago because of this video and it has entirely changed the way i look at photos, now instead of hunting for good lighting and whatnot i look for emotion. thank you guys so much
This video is absolutely beautiful! I shoot film too from time to time, and I love the aspects of it that you two have highlighted in this story. Plus the aspect of sharing this passion and learning with another person seems to make it a truly unique experience. I'm curious about the type of film you've used since the pics looks quite contrasty and vivid (though where I live I "only" have access to 3 makes of film, Kodak 200,Fuji 200 and illford black and white 100).Anyway great work and storytelling, subscribed right away!
Thanks for watching and subscribing! We've been using fujicolor 200 or 100 a lot lately but would really like to start experimenting with other options soon : ) so if you have any absolute favorites please let us know. It might look more contrasty than what your photos look like because of how the colors shift when they get scanned, edited, and uploaded--basically we just try and keep things as real and good looking as possible but its tricky with youtube and all these programs ; ) Can't wait to hear what you think of the next photography video we shoot in the coming weeks!
You should definitely shoot with Kodak Portra, Kodak Ektar, Kodak Tri-X, Fuji Superia, Ilford HP5 and Fuji Provia/Velvia (if you can find your hands on some). You should also post more of these videos. Not a vegan so I can't enjoy the rest of your videos but I sure enjoyed this one a lot!
Thanks so much for the tips on types of film! Were working on some more photography based content but i swear you'll enjoy some of our others too :) not all of them are vegan related - try this that captures our entire year in a short compilation video - ua-cam.com/video/gnA6N4wcego/v-deo.html or this one which is about walking all of paris in one day ua-cam.com/video/giUajEFP1uQ/v-deo.html
The best part is when you looked at your photos. The way film handles the highlights and shadows just make it look so much more real than digital. I hope film makes a comeback. Channels like yours that inspire people to shoot film is what we need. Thank you
This is honestly one of the best intros to shooting films I have ever seen on UA-cam and believe me when I say that I have seen A LOT. They were good but this one was above and beyond what I expected
I get emotional when I saw the photos, those are beautiful images. There's something about film, it is like the photos has soul. I don't know how to explain it, but it's just breathtaking! Thanks for the video, I'm gonna go out and shot films. Bye!
This was exactly the video I was looking for. I just bought an Olympus OM10 from a friend today and I needed a quick refresher on how film cameras worked. Nicely done. 😊
This video has renewed my faith in the world. I thought I was alone and that my memories of pre digital Life didn't matter anymore. The best thing I've ever seen on UA-cam. Really.
Nothing makes you feel old (especially as a photographer) when a 20 something millennial girl holding a camera that you had, brand new in college use the phrase "old film cameras".......wow! Take the slide film challenge...
woah a slide flim challenge sounds incredible!! Last time I was at my grandfather's house we had a big family slide show with all their old slides and it was so incredible to sit and look through my mother's childhood photos. - Dana
Indeed, slide film is a whole different animal, very sensitive to exposure -1/2 stop in either direction for a usable image, must be very mindful of your settings. If you should decide to accept the challenge, good luck.
Hahaha, thanks Kenneth! Its funny how few people seem to take into account that this was her first time shooting, she really did an amazing job, but that's just the way we always seem to do tutorial videos, when we want to learn something for real we make a tutorial ; ) ---Lou
Yes she did an amazing job!!!! I was so proud when I was in high school winning an Island-wide (Guam-tiny island) News Paper Photography Award it was including the college students and I was a sophomore in H.S. I loved and still love taking pictures. Back then it was only 35mm. So awesome you guys did this. BTW I am back tracking on all your older videos since I am a new subscriber. ;)
I also went back to film, and i am so much more happy with shooting film. The results are just so much more real. The great feeling if u hold your work in your hands. Keep going this way guys. you do great.
Hahah, yeah, Dana was so excited when we got the photos back! BTW, sorry for the delayed response, I'm going back through old comments we missed and found this one! Would love to hear what you think of the new Iceland video we just uploaded ; ) --Lou
i am in love with this video. informative, enjoyable, and absolutely precious! this captured the joy of shooting on film so accurately from the apprehension of choosing settings to the excitement of receiving your final result. thank you for this video
I have now watched this video 5 times. I just bought myself a Pentax K1000. I know nothing about photography, but not only was this informative, but it was beautiful to see not just the photos, but the journey behind the photos.
Thanks so much Zak, rewatching tutorials is one of the main ways I learn new skills as well, it helps to have a notebook too and stop the videos to take little notes. ---Lou
This video inspired me a few months ago to dig up my dad's old 35mm Nikon N2020 he received for his high school graduation circa 1987, buy a few rolls of film, and give it my best shot. A few months later, my friends are beginning to take an interest in film and I am teaching them things that I learned from this video. Your channel, and especially this video, will always inspire me to take the best photographs that I can and share them with good people. I have now shot everything from hikes to street photography in New York City to simply documenting good times with good friends, and I will always be grateful to have gotten my start from this video. Much love from Connecticut, I can't wait to see what you guys do next!
Thanks so much for the kind comment Andrew! Its always great to hear people take this video and then go out and really start creating beautiful stuff on their own! Keep shooting : ) ---Lou
Credits to engineers and inventors. For without them we wouldnt have this technology to play around with. Remember, a bunch of ppl worked really hard behind the scenes so we can play around and take pictures. They get neglected by almost everyone. The most important jobs are usually the thankless ones.
Nice video. I just dusted off my Canon AE-1 for the first time in about 15 years. I haven't gotten any pictures developed yet but I had to chuckle at the part when you said it should take about a week. Gone are the days of 1 hour photo developing haha.
This video is what got me to buy a Cannon a1 and start shooting film a few months ago. I watched this video back in Nov 2016 and bought my camera in March, but this video is the reason I bought a Canon A1.
SUCH a helpful video. The only video I could find that provided simple, easy to understand definitions of technical terms. Plus it so cute, and enjoyable to watch.
excellent news. my children are really curious about my llc my 6 yr old can't understand why film is film and that light creates an image. could I show you my images when I get my first roll developed.
EdBareff no it is not. Noise is the lack light hitting the sensor on digital cameras. Grain is the particles found in the film type. Grain is always the same because of the film type. Noise is never the same, and you never want noise for professional photos. Grain can be used professionally.
Film is continuous grain whereas digital noise is created when the sensors gain light is trying to add luminance to compensate for the low light levels. IMHO digital noise is ugly and film grain is beautiful.
gahh i re-watched the ending recently and it made me want to make a second video in this series. Just so much fun to take the tie to take portraits of all our friends. :) - Dana
Wild We Roam do it do it do it! I've recently put in my last roll of 35mm (it came in a set of 3) and I can't wait to finish it and get them all developed!!
Honestly, I saw this video and after re-watching it like 12 times I bought a new camera and I am about to shoot film. Thank you so much for this gorgeous video.
+liba cooli was only joking. I've been shooting film for about 12 yrs now. But if anything when i was a noob i would experiment and jot down my settings. my brain has become a light meter.
hahhahah really ,,,, do people who handle your film walk around their workshop with their eyes closed ?? of coarse they look at the customers prints how are they supposed to check the print quality ? this is why people who would shoot naked photos decades ago would set up their own darkroom or a have a printer on the sly who would print their work
As a certifiable geezer, I started out in film, with my dad's German Kodak retina 35mm made in 1959, the year I was born. I still have it plus several other film cams. But I mostly shoot with a Pentax K5. It's really great to see you guys, raised on digital, trying out and enjoying film. Such a pleasure to watch you guys enjoying what i did back in the day. Keep on keepin' on!
I know Right? I am 48 and have been shooting 35mm since I was 14. There was a time when I would kill for an A1. Now I can afford one. But opted for the Minolta X700 instead.
Just thinking the same thing. It's amazing how everyone is like...wow we've resurrected something from the Victorian Era. Meanwhile I still have my Canon Rebel 35mm🤣🤣😂
I started in 1979 the rise of digital have lowed the price of the 35 mm film bodies I wanted back in the 90's . I'm currently looking at a Nikon f-5 when it came out it was 1,000 , I found one for 250
When you're focusing, really try to move your focusing hand so your palm is under the lens, cradling it. The way you're doing looks so cack-handed and doesn't support the camera well so especially at low shutter speeds you'll be introducing camera shake.
I'm 25 now and I still remember the sheer excitement I felt when I was a kid, whenever my Dad stops by at nearby Fujifilm shop to buy film rolls before we head to the airport for a long vacation. The memory still lingers and that's why I've been trying to get back to camera film these days. This video helps me a lot!
This video makes me feel like a dinosaur... I have boxes of photographs and some old film laying around but much prefer digital... cost cost cost. Cool though I guess, it seems like ancient technology to some, but I think most ppl were still shooting through about 2002 or so... the early digitals 99-02 were bad, convenient, but bad. Even disposables were better. IT would be cool to see somebody shooting on a .6 mp 640x480 digital camera! "and this is how you oversharpen in paint shop pro!" If you are truly interested, def find somebody with a darkroom...that's part of the fun and process! Never had my own, but we had one in middle school/high school in the 90s.
This is great. As much as I hate to admit it, creative types aren’t always the most technically minded people and this presents the basics in a really easy-to-follow and intuitive way. Thanks!

The cinematography in this was simply amazing
Thanks so much Pedro! We have a new video about Iceland with some nice shots as well : ) ----Lou
Local camera shop is the difficult part
yeah we don't live near one of those anymore so its a little tricky these days! ---Lou
This is Germany, tho', Ajie - they tend to have such shops in & around Europe, still - thankfully :)
This is a cool video because it isn't all technical. It also conveys the overall experience shooting film, which is what a lot of us old fogeys (lol) remember from our film days. Loved watching everyone try the film camera for the first time!
Thanks! I mean this was literally the first time Dana even used the camera, and so the excitement is all real ; ) ---Lou
The most backhanded compliment
“Hipster nostalgia worship” what 😂 where is the line between that and sincerity? What a shit attitude
OMG but if you develop your film on your own it's literally the best thing ever
ahh we actually just ordered all the chemicals so will be starting so soon which means that we can make way more film videos this year sinc we wont have to pay or wait for pricey film developing. So so excited!
Wild We Roam Chemicals? You dont scan it on machine? 😊🙏🏼
@@FLawLesSTaStE chemicals to develop the negatives and then they would have to scan them so they can show them on the videos
literally ??? hmmm..
Without doubt, Kathy - it makes you a more rounded photographer :D
Omg I love this video, it is the most informing video about film camera on UA-cam. However, it only covered some features of film camera, I really hope you can make another one.
Thank you so much Peter!! We so appreciate it :) Are there any specifics you would like to see in a future video!?!
Lol
Btw, I have a Yashica Electro 35 GS.
Plant Based Traveler Can't wait to see your new videos too.
Watching her excitement is so endearing....really makes u wanna go out and shoot.
You are too kind David! Thank you so much for watching :) - Dana
Best “how to” video. I’m picking up my first 35mm SLR today and this video really helped me understand how it all works.
Thanks so much! A lot of work went into that one ; ) ---Lou
The Canon A-1 is one of the best cameras Canon ever made! It was never marketed very well.
Having the pictures in your hands is such a beautiful thing.
Thanks! It really was just a beautiful summer day, plus a bit of tutorial stuff thrown in ; ) ---Lou
I love how utterly personal to you guys this video is. It's the perfect blend of technical and artistic in video creation. I especially noticed the part when she was looking at the film for the first time. The camera was purely focused on her, not the film, because it outlined the most important thing about the situation which was the feeling it gave her.
So much more character and life in these old cameras, need to get one
Yeah, they really are beautiful! ---Lou
Just started this video and I must say, you guys are already amazing
hahah yes Julian!! So happy you are enjoying the video :) Fingers crossed you made it until the end toooo
Just bought a Canon AE-1 and I'm so excited to start using it! Thanks for the helpful tips :) Plant based fo life.
ahh yes!! that is so so exciting Will :) Can't wait to hear how your photography adventures go!! Once you get a roll back we'd love to see some of the photos - jsut email us at plantbasedtraveler@gmail.com #plantbasedforevaaaaa
Those of us who started on film no doubt applaud your investigation of film. It is a very rewarding medium. I definitely do. Have fun!
Needless to say, no regrets at all thank you so much :)
so so good and really informative- thank you!
Thanks : )
you are so so pretty and can i get your instagram?
This helped me out tons thanks!!
the excitment on her face when she's seeing them made me aww and smile so hard
Yeah that really was a beautiful moment! ---Lou
I got into film photography about 6 months ago because of this video and it has entirely changed the way i look at photos, now instead of hunting for good lighting and whatnot i look for emotion.
thank you guys so much
her excitement and happiness is just so genuine, that is how taking pictures should make everyone feel.
thank you so much for this sweet comment Pedro :) - Dana
thanks for this! You're a pretty dope filmmaker as well
Thank you so much for watching Poudii!! Just checked out your channel and you make such great videos too :) So hilarious !!
Ayee poudii out here lookin extra thicc!
calissa west 😂
Poudii young poudii p
Love this! So well made and so interesting thanks xxx
thanks so much for watching!! Really happy to hear you enjoyed it ;)
This video is absolutely beautiful!
Bye!
Thanks so much for the nice comment! --Lou
Now this is some quality content!
Thanks Shelly : ) Glad you found this one! ---Lou
pretty wank thing to say though..
This was exactly the video I was looking for. I just bought an Olympus OM10 from a friend today and I needed a quick refresher on how film cameras worked. Nicely done. 😊
It just shows that technological progress is easy to applaud but difficult to love. Long live film.
Took that slide film challenge back in the 80's was fun I still have the slides
You know, I was thinking the same thing. Strange that I became a dinosaur so quickly.
Velvia gives wonderful hues!
Those are some very nice images for someone shooting film for the first time. Well done.
BTW I am back tracking on all your older videos since I am a new subscriber. ;)
This kind of makes me want to pick up a camera and just start shooting stuff.
Go for it! ---Lou
I also went back to film, and i am so much more happy with shooting film. The results are just so much more real. The great feeling if u hold your work in your hands. Keep going this way guys. you do great.
So so happy to hear you enjoyed this video and are a fan of film photography too :) - Dana
This is not a tutorial it's a brilliant, super brilliant short movie.
I love it. I love it too much.
Thanks so much for the kind kind words : ) Sorry about the delayed response! ---Lou
I felt the excitement and emotions when you were looking at the prints, I miss the feeling of anticipation from shooting film.
Hahah, yeah, Dana was so excited when we got the photos back! BTW, sorry for the delayed response, I'm going back through old comments we missed and found this one! Would love to hear what you think of the new Iceland video we just uploaded ; ) --Lou
10:52 OMG this guy works at the fotoshop in Neukolln!! Just got film from him yesterday he’s so nice
i am in love with this video. informative, enjoyable, and absolutely precious! this captured the joy of shooting on film so accurately from the apprehension of choosing settings to the excitement of receiving your final result. thank you for this video
Thank you for the kind response! :)
Credits to engineers and inventors. For without them we wouldnt have this technology to play around with. Remember, a bunch of ppl worked really hard behind the scenes so we can play around and take pictures.
They get neglected by almost everyone. The most important jobs are usually the thankless ones.
This video really made film won the debate between film and digital in my head lol
Nice video. I just dusted off my Canon AE-1 for the first time in about 15 years. I haven't gotten any pictures developed yet but I had to chuckle at the part when you said it should take about a week. Gone are the days of 1 hour photo developing haha.
yeah, only in some cities like Tokyo and NYC, but certainly not Berlin ; ) ---Lou
THIS. VIDEO. IS. JUST. WHAT. I. NEEDED.
So glad you liked it : ) ---Lou
This is my favourite video on UA-cam ever!!!
Thanks so much David! Glad you found us : ) Hope you had a nice weekend! ---Lou
i bought a camera without realizing it was a film camera.....
AjxCamera now you get to learn how to shoot in film! :-)
hahah what a beautiful surprise!!
Congrats! You may find it was one of the best mistakes ever!
Consider yourself fortunate
How tho
Great video! I see you like old lenses and cams like me :) I am doing a lot with minolta gear.
Go ahead :)
I have to thank you for teaching me how to use the camera (Yashica 108) that photographed my birth. I saved her from the trash can!
So glad we could help ; ) Happpppy friday! ---Lou
This is by far the best video to explain to start with the film photographfy. Even if you are an alien you could understand how to use it. Great job!
This video is what got me to buy a Cannon a1 and start shooting film a few months ago. I watched this video back in Nov 2016 and bought my camera in March, but this video is the reason I bought a Canon A1.
Glad we could help : ) ----Lou
mac demarco is that you..
Hahaha, I get that a lot : ) For some reason only on youtube though, no one has ever mentioned it in person. ---Lou
I got a really clean and working Olympus om10 and it works and everything
That's great! It's not always the case with these old cameras : ) --Lou
May I say something non-content related? :P You look so pretty and glowing dana!
gloria you are literally the sweetest :) thanks so much for watching as always and for this lovely compliment!
I love this video. I first watched it probably in 2016 and today I've just picked up my first roll to go shoot with my grandads old camera
SUCH a helpful video. The only video I could find that provided simple, easy to understand definitions of technical terms. Plus it so cute, and enjoyable to watch.
I miss taking pictures with my grandma's old camera. The photos are so much beautiful and funny to take. Looks like they are more realistic
this is the best. great for a novice like me. inspiration. I went and bought a cheap analogue praktica llc
So happy you liked this one! --Lou
Plant Based Traveler so how are plans for your van conversion going
So far so good : ) Should be on the road by May if all goes well!
excellent news. my children are really curious about my llc my 6 yr old can't understand why film is film and that light creates an image. could I show you my images when I get my first roll developed.
there's no noise in film noise is digital , grain is film (?)
grain and noise is the same thing :)
EdBareff no it is not. Noise is the lack light hitting the sensor on digital cameras. Grain is the particles found in the film type. Grain is always the same because of the film type. Noise is never the same, and you never want noise for professional photos. Grain can be used professionally.
thanks, good to know! the result is similar, right? first comes from film and second from digital.
Film is continuous grain whereas digital noise is created when the sensors gain light is trying to add luminance to compensate for the low light levels. IMHO digital noise is ugly and film grain is beautiful.
No computer program can ever duplicate how film responds to light hitting it .
I wanted to cry. The ending was so precious and she was so excited and ugh.
gahh i re-watched the ending recently and it made me want to make a second video in this series.
Ahh thank you for this lovely comment LamFunke! So glad this video was helpful for you :) - Dana
idk how to shoot film
i just know i shoot dope.
Fermin Amaya that's probably the worst way to waste them films. You should know what happens when you push that button.
+liba cooli
was only joking. I've been shooting film for about 12 yrs now. But if anything when i was a noob i would experiment and jot down my settings. my brain has become a light meter.
This is probably a stupid question but do the people that develop the film look at your pictures?
Great video btw
i've actually been wondering this too!!!!! Dont have the answer for you but if you find out definitely send the info my way :)
Thanks for letting us know : )
hahhahah really ,,,, do people who handle your film walk around their workshop with their eyes closed ?? of coarse they look at the customers prints how are they supposed to check the print quality ? this is why people who would shoot naked photos decades ago would set up their own darkroom or a have a printer on the sly who would print their work
Robin Williams use to
How did you digitalise them
Hi Ed, we have a video on developing at home and another on scanning negatives! ---Lou
Keep on keepin' on!
thank you for this lovely comment Charles! So nice to hear other people 's experiences with film cameras :) - Dana
Finally a video i didn't zone out of . thx for making it easy to learn .
Hahaha, yeah, tutorials can be hard to pay attention to sometimes! ---Lou
I'm 31 and i grew up only shooting only 35mm... now people 10 years younger than me make it sound like no one has used it since the 1800's... lol..
Yeah its a strange phenomenon. ----Lou
I'm currently looking at a Nikon f-5 when it came out it was 1,000 , I found one for 250
Yea but how should an 18 year old know how a film camera works if no one explains to us? 😅 we did not grow up with that kinda stuff
If Dylan Sprouse were a lady
I thought the exact same thing
When you're focusing, really try to move your focusing hand so your palm is under the lens, cradling it.
The way you're doing looks so cack-handed and doesn't support the camera well so especially at low shutter speeds you'll be introducing camera shake.
Thank you so much for the tip Matthew!! Will try out that new hand position out next time I take the camera out :)
no problem. should feel more natural too.
s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/e0/42/51/e0425175876c7c701bf2eda4d9a75b47.jpg
and keep your elbows in to add support, should be able to rest them on your sides for very slow shutter speeds.
Thank you so much for the video! It is so nice that you tell people about film photography! Keep shooting film!
So glad you liked this one, we have many more shooting film ; ) ---Lou
I'm 25 now and I still remember the sheer excitement I felt when I was a kid, whenever my Dad stops by at nearby Fujifilm shop to buy film rolls before we head to the airport for a long vacation. The memory still lingers and that's why I've been trying to get back to camera film these days. This video helps me a lot!
Lebt ihr in der Nähe von Münster?
nein, wir leben in Berlin : ) ---Lou
thank you for being you
:) :) this made me smile
Her enthusiasm made me smile...alot!
Thanks!
Tolles Video danke!
I bought one when I was 14 and use it occasionally and right now I've had a roll in for almost three years and don't even know what's on it anymore. It's something magical when you turn it in and wait for the result. ✨
one week to wait? jeeezz... my developer takes a day
Yeah, we mostly develop our own at home now cause the wait is too much to handle! ---Lou
Alright I’m a broke college student. Does anyone know where I can buy a moderately priced film camera? Also what kind of camera or company do you suggest? I’m taking literally any suggestions. Help a girl out 😭
Keh.com might have some stuff, cheap minoltas on ebay are usually not much, otherwise vintage clothing stores sometimes have really cheap ones! ---Lou
I'm a broke college student too. Get a Minolta SRT-101 on eBay for $50 with a lens.
Got myself a Minolta x700 with 50mm f1.7 and 135mm f3.5 for 35 euro.
check local thrift and antique stores!
I want to buy a film camera. Because photos today have so little value. We take so many all the time. I want to have limitations.
I bought myself a camera..accidentally realising it’s a film camera and I’ve enjoyed learning all about the camera from this video thank u! ❤️
Just wanted to say that the sound design in this video is absolutely fantastic! A pleasure to listen too!
