Thank you so much for sharing your sketchbook with us all. I'm so sorry to hear about your stay at the hospial too - I know it's no fun. Do you think you may have to have hip replacemet or it hasn't gotten that far yet (I hope it hasn't)? Stay strong, keep sketching as much as you can. If you can get outside (without walking because I know you're in pain) and in nature that will help you mentally, you know. Nature always has a way of reaching us and calming us 🙂. Looking forward to your next video and I just found you on Instagram too! 🙂
Lovely video. Which Luminance orange is that when you mention your Alma Mater? It’s dynamic and vibrant. Also; for the #3 materials challenge, how do you select colours? What’s an easy approach - to aim for a light, middle and dark tone? It’s just that I always feel a little overwhelmed with choices / options. Hope your health stays on the up too!
The orange is dark cadmium orange (#533). I don't really have a process for picking materials. The light, middle, dark would be easiest way to do it but I use different approaches. Sometimes I have a particular material I want to use so pick two others to go with it, other times it's just colours I have left over on my palette. I have a little box of things I got to test out, like a few intense blocks etc so sometimes pull something out of that. It can be good to use materials that blend well so that you get a dark tone that way.
@@sketchingtheworldwithkat Thank you for the ##533 orange. And, nice idea to try out new materials for the 3 materials challenge. Keep the videos coming, love them!
@@sketchingtheworldwithkat hey I really wanted an a3 sketchbook and even with shipping this sketchbook was only like 11$ for an A3 size for me. K, so my question is, can it handle any wet mediums as all? A light wash? Gouache? Acrylic? Watercolor pencils etc
For the challenge I used the cheapo Jackson's Art sketchbooks. They are about $1 each. I also use the Fabriano Veneza and the moleskine sketchbooks a lot.
Loved the 3 material sketchbook show in tell! I feel inspired!
I'm so glad! thanks for watching!
Every page of that sketchbook so enjoyable 😊
Thank you ❤️
You have such a good eye for the 3 materials drawing challenge, the combinations of colours are great and the drawings superb! Take care Kat :)*
Thank you so much 😀

Thanks. I don't really know anything until I have my specialist appointment this month. Hopefully I won't need a hip replacement.
Great little sketchbook! You have inspired me to dig out my favorite storage tins to use for practicing my drawing. Wishing you good health xx
Thanks so much. Good luck with the sketching.

8 or 9 hours waiting? 😮 Those Jackson’s cheap sketchbooks are the best. As always, loving your work, especially the 3 materials challenge pieces.
It was a crazy wait. I think they are really understaffed.

@@sketchingtheworldwithkatAlso, I'm only bugging you about the sketchbook because I can't find a singular review anywhere!
It's fun to see the coffee shops you go to all over the world. Just please don't start a hospital series!
Your color combinations are fantastic.
Yeah, I'd prefer to. Thanks so much.
A hospital series?

What pencils are you using? Such fun work, thanks for sharing!
Mostly the Caran d'ache luminance. I have a few prismacolours and others thrown in.
Oh, that must have been tough. Take care of yourself.
Thanks :D
