    with this show i’m always concerned that at some point, statistically, one of these kids is just autistic and dealing with constant sensory overload and reacting in the only way they know how: by lashing out. like i think there was this one kid that couldn’t stand loud sounds and hated touch and jackets and all i could think was “omg, that was me as a kid” :(

      Sometimes the kids were just autistic,adhd or had spd but jo’s parenting techniques usually focused on increased communication and how to make the parents more understanding so it seemed to turn out ok.

      I didn't see any clips in this video where she told parents to beat or electrocute their children, so on that basis alone it's better than 70% of "legitimate" treatments for autistic children
      Sure, they'll grow up deeply traumatized, but literally every neurodivergent person does -- this might be the best we can expect from NT society

    Two pieces of knowledge for y'all, usually when people are watching things on screen in a show, there is something playing on the screen but when it's recorded, it doesn't show well, so they edit video over it for clarity. Also, I recently found out that recorders are a cheap and easy to play instrument for beginners, and may help build lung and breath strength in children!

    I cant believe I forgot about this show!! You just unlocked a memory for me. My mom used to make me watch this show with her whenever it was on when I was like 10. She was always so shook by how bad the kids were and was gasping every five seconds lolol I totally agree with what you said at the beginning that it would make me feel good about how good i was and be like arent you glad i dont do THAT mom??? Early reality tv just hit different i swear… watching it evolve from its beginnings has been a really wild process

    Supernanny was my childhood favorite show- my mom also described me as "unnaturally good" so there's that too. I didn't even watch it WITH my mom, I just loved seeing how much better I was than children, and how much better my mom was than those parents. Really fueled my angel ego
