@@ThrabenUniversity i was about to say DONT TOUCH MY BABY when you said ”idk what to cut" for collector ouphe XD The Colossus is so underrated but hes my baby!
The Lumra series is wildly fun. Talking in hindsight, wouldn't a single Glacial Chasm be a reasonable sideboard slot over maybe Cultivator Colossus? It wouldn't have mattered this time on the artifact matchup, but they simply can't win with Glaring Fleshraker with Chasm in play!
Alternatively, one Questing Beast to smash the opponent through The One Ring in board states like 48:47. (That's probably too narrow, but it is funny.)
When describing Dark Depths vs Field in the deck tech, you mentioned that DD requires 1 removal spell, usually exile-based. Now all I wanna know is if anyone has ever killed a Marit Lage with 4 Dismembers lmao
Going 'ough' like I'm being beaten to death in Minecraft with every cast, faceplanting on the playmat and dropping all my items when the last one gets countered by Not of This World.
I feel like we’d ideally go back down to 60 cards here? We aren’t playing maindeck tutors anyway for the 80 cards to dilute the targets of, and increasing density of some of the more powerful cards like wasteland seems valuable? Yorion is also a french vanilla 4/5 in this deck.
having the option to pay a bunch of mana for a 4/5 flier is pretty relevant for a lot of decks, especially a deck like this which can get very grindy. yorion isn’t good because you can do icky things w/ the blink once in a blue moon, it’s good because the floor is just putting something that’s a good blocker and a decent attacker on the stack when you have nothing else going on. And boy will the >50% lands deck occasionally not have anything going on. Also the stated idea behind yorion in the deck tech was that in testing the deckbuilder was having issues with potentially milling their deck in longer games. I could see that happening as each mulch mills for a good chunk, and loaming does that also. there will definitely be grindy matches where that issue rears its head.
Huge fan, love the channel!! Something weird about boseiju and wastes. Since wastes isnt a basic land TYPE, you cant find them, boseiju stipulates a land with a basic land type. Wastes, while basic lands, dont have a basic type... wierd I know
Just a quick point for engagement: in R2 (around 48-49 minute mark) you were talking about how important it would be to find a wasteland. Wouldn't it have dug deeper then if you had first cast Life from the Loam, and then dredged it with Uro? You had mana left over for a Yorion so I think mana wouldn't have been a bottleneck.
Hey Phil, thoughts on putting recurring nightmare and shifting woodland in this? With shifting woodland you can copy the nightmare in bin since you easily can get delirium and sacrifice a zombie to get back a milled Lumra. You can also copy dark depths and make a 20/20. Just food for thought I love these land decks and appreciate the content
Last game, you could have played Field of the Dead and Savannah, cast Uro, put Misty in play, fetch for another land, and have had two blockers and still have two mana for Urza's Saga, at 5 life. Not the best spot, but it could have been enough.
Love the deck and longer deck tech. Out of Curiosity, why not a single Mystic Sanctuary as a fetch target? 80 cards means you're unlikely to have it in your opening hand and even if you do, there is still a good chance you can mulch for 3 islands before you play it.
Yo babe wake up new Phil Lumra deck just dropped (no seriously, Lumra being in your 75-95 may be the best correlation to an S tier Phil video imaginable)
I noticed that ALOT of cards are common(Treasure Hunt, mulch, winding way, crop rotation) can this deck work in pauper? I did see the win cons you use here are rare maybe there is another tech or useful way we can dump the libary into graveyard and use them else were? Thanks
There is a BG graveyard deck that uses cards like Mulch to fill the graveyard, but rather than do "land stuff," it focuses on Reanimating creatures like Lotleth Giant.
I'm not sure my experience is necessarily completely valid with the current meta (and only involved 8 mulch) but... - Yorion is probably not necessary. Never came close to decking out in ~100 games. The best game are the ones where you can drop an Exploration or Manabond turn 1, and then follow up with a mulch/hunt. More lands means more variance, and more likely to have a fully lands hand, or not to see one of the 8 accelerators. - Unique lands are very necessary. That includes the bad cycle lands and or triomes, if relevant to fixing. 3 Yavimaya, and multiple Mystic Sanctuary is probably bad. - multiple fetches are not mandatory when Loam-ing. Wasteland and fetch or even just fetch alone is good enough on at least the first dip. The dredge is likely to then bring you up to more lands. - 2 Depths, 3 Thespian stage is enough of a backup plan to 3-4 FIeld in a 60 card deck. Especially if you have 4 crop rotations, but they are an easy cut... But Saga might just be better.
Thanks for testing new brews, as always. I know it must be discouraging to try and be creative when 50%+ of Legacy is just overpowered UB "good stuff."
"A large number of the other lands in this deck list are not actually islands , at all" If 30 years of magic has taught us anything, it's that this is a surefire way to lose :)
You repeatedly decide to mulligan in search of your 8 most important cards, a likelihood severely impacted by increasing deck size by 33%. How is that an acceptable tradeoff for an 8 mana 4/5 flier?
The lumra lands series has been my favorite arc lately
Im so happy to have sent this deck list in THANK YOU FOR THIS IM SO HAPPY!!!!
This one was FUN. The tuning was a little tricky, but I'm very happy with the result.

1 minor correction/reminder, boseiju never allows searching a waste as though it is a basic land, it has no basic land type.

i saw this deck on moxfield and got so hype for the league!
Absolutely love the extra long deck tech today! It is so helpful to hear your thought process on how you approach adapting the deck.
"Goodbye, Mulch. Hellooooo, Mulch." I'm cracking up
The thoughtseize bug in a yorion deck is wild.
Longer deck techs make me stay longer. Can't always make the game play, but your thoughts are always interesting 😊
long deck techs should become the norm this is peak content. one of the best videos in a while. ur my goat

Hey Phil from the Future. I have bad News for you. You are actually Phil from the Past… im sorry but someone had to do it.
Oh no, the timestreams!
I click and like every video, but the times Phil plays crazy land decks are highlights of my year.
Same, tbh.
Haven't actually played in years, but this deck makes me want to play again.

This was very high quality magic. Great games.
For me the video was worth it because it reminded me to put 1 Treasure Hunt in my Uro of the Dead commander lol
1:21:24 uro, field into fetch buys a turn here! And probably the game, imo, although cascade is so swingy

I'd like to see a deck that uses Scroll Rack and Treasure Hunt together. Unsure if it even possible to pull off that interaction.
We love the Lumra Leagues

I don't think it's worth going into another color for those.
Phil, has anyone built a Doomsday list with the idea / option to stall and win with Triumph of Saint Katherine?

What about 1x anger, you can give all the zombies haste and it's easy to discard or mill with dredge
Awesome deck
Hall of heliod would work great in this list.
idk, I'd replace the swords with consign to memory, and boots -> pithing needle.
I think answering Psychic Frog and other large reanimated creatures is really important in this metagame.
Sweet deck
Round 5, couldn’t you have played Uro into field into fetchland for 2 zombies to block?
Why is there no burgeoning main deck or like an azusa to wish for
Does this deck need that many Yavimaya's? It didnt seem like it did a ton

Any reason to cut Pithing Needle rather than the third Path to Exile?
I really like removal-heavy decks right now, as Psychic Frog has taken over the format.

It is just a body for when you flood out. In a SUPER mana heavy deck like this one, that's fine, even if you don't have great synergy with it.
You repeatedly decide to mulligan in search of your 8 most important cards, a likelihood severely impacted by increasing deck size by 33%. How is that an acceptable tradeoff for an 8 mana 4/5 flier?
