Great project. One thing you might consider is how the solder joints are going to hold up long-term. Without strain relief some of those joints might break off as you drive, if for example a long piece pf wire is hanging off of a solder joint and just hanging loose behind the panel. the forces of driving will swing it back and forth until it breaks off, solder joints are quite brittle. Some hot glue can go a long way
You just SOLDERED the dial points to another dial! Its Genius!! I'm always terrified of throwing the simplest of even analog electronics into my small projects, but I respect the way you roll with the punches until you figure it out. Can't even imagine doing a whole dash. Awesome channel!
This is video is top class in so many ways, congratulations!. "This wasn't easy, that I did something I was bad at and kept going even through the failures...." "Unless you're very gifted, most things are just hard until you get alot of practice in. So I'm trying not to shy away from things that I'm bad at, because with some patience and persistnace it's possible to make some really cool things."
Love the little title, dates, signature, etc right at the end. Adds a nice touch without being overbearing Also love the new dashboard! The bevmobile keeps getting more and more fun
very cool project, you could cut a small plate to fit into that gap where the 7seg is, weld it in place and grind down, then use filler to hide any gaps
@@EvanMonsma I'm thinking you should bring it by the mechanic that looked at the highly suspect van... Wish you had footage of that experience, that was quite the story.
This video; I stumble on Evans channel recently have have found a butt-load of useful tips and handy info. I’ve also really enjoyed the filmmaker quality. Overdubs, b-roll, out takes all add to the personalization of this type of filmmaking. All of the films are done in a way that takes the fear out of home DIY, perfection is the enemy of good enough.. But this video, this video here caused me so much anxiety I wasn’t able to finish it. Perhaps, now that I’m writing this…the obstacle is the way. Or not. Great stuff.
Welding was actually way easier than i anticipated- definitely would take a lot of practice to get good looking welds, but it was remarkably easy to get functional but ugly welds haha
please stick to your channel tag, keep making for the sake of it. you can go far here, you just need to stay persistent. Incredible work, cannot wait to see where you go man. Much love.
I don't know if you see comments on year-old videos, but you might want to consider a floor-mounted high-beam switch like they did it in the '60's. You can use a guitar stompbox switch & just run it in parallel with (or before, if you want to have a master shutoff) the switch on the dash.
Just discovered you with your camera vid, men your doing such great job, your idee are simple and fun, love your editing, real breath of fresh air in a rotten YT. Wish you the best from France
Love the deltron 3030 music :) I recognized it immediately it caught me off guard lol the song is “virus” from the deltron 3030 instrumental album Edit: oh you credited it in the description
Props my dude, although you said you weren't good at wiring and go straight into soldering circuit boards lol...preciate the inspiration no doubt! Thanks for sharing
The production quality just keeps getting better 🔥
THANK YOU TUSS BUSS
"My car is a little... let me just show you"
*opens a portal into pipe-bomb land*
Lmao yeah basically
Dude, I love the direction and mood of your channel, projects and approach to creativity. Keep it going!
Thanks man! I appreciate the support!
Lovely storytelling, my dude. I can't wait to see how the rest of your interior takes shape as you build it all.
Thanks! I've got big plans for it for sure

Good tip! I’ll do that next time I’ve got it taken apart to add more functions
Damnit Evan they keep getting better. Elon only wishes he could design a dash this Goat-y
Thanks chase 🙏 This should be the cyber truck dashboard

Looks like this thing just needs 1.21 gigawatts to send you back to 1955 !
Lmao thanks!

That's one of the wildest things I've seen someone make. 🙌
Thanks haha

Top quality stuff again. Grats on having the coolest car in the block...or in the states :)
Thanks! Lol
I'm glad I knew the T7 was still drivable as the teardown of system controls had me spooked. Terrifying and beautiful, bravo! 🎉💐
hehe I did drive it once with no AC and no stereo. felt like going around in a go kart

WOAH
Went back to watch the intro again and the welding lines up with the music so well???
hehe yes that was originally a moment later in the video but I liked the magic feel of it so I moved it to the intro
Absolute boss video, my tool father. You have the most beautiful head unit on UA-cam 🧠
Cheers from New Jersey
What you doin over there come back
Good project you got there. Am more pleased with your camera work, color grading and narration. Top notch quality.
Much love from Kenya, East Africa

This was amazing dude, I found your channel yesterday and binged all of your videos. Keep it up!
Thanks! I appreciate the support!
Wow, very inspiring to try something new that has been intimidating.. I'd love to learn to weld, and this is giving me a lot of confidence to try it
Welding was actually way easier than i anticipated- definitely would take a lot of practice to get good looking welds, but it was remarkably easy to get functional but ugly welds haha
So cool! Reminded me the back to the future delorean's dashboard
It totally does I didn’t even notice lol
Van Neistat and Evan posted on the same day!!!. 👍👍👌👌
Watching his vid right now haha
That’s the coolest custom dash I’ve seen. It’s a good thing it isn’t in southern Arizona though. That dash would be a frying pan in the summer.
this thing is absolutely amazing
make me s dashboard for my miata lol
this is fantastic, I love your style of filming and overall approach to creating
Thanks man! You have way too much trust in me to not set your Miata on fire lmao
please stick to your channel tag, keep making for the sake of it. you can go far here, you just need to stay persistent. Incredible work, cannot wait to see where you go man. Much love.
Thanks for the support 🙏 appreciate you. I’m getting quicker at the production, consistency is my next big focus

So good man. I'm jealous of your dashboard switches

Very Doc Brown -ish...
BTW, this is a WEIRD idea! Weird, in a good way. It's DIFFERENT. I like it.
Thanks lol

Found my new fav channel. This dude is underrated
Dude... How do you only have 3k subs??? This channel is FIRE!!!
Thanks man! Growing quick!
This is great stuff man!
Thanks!
You could actually make the display that didn't work out into something else since its just a display, could make it into a clock while keeping it
If this channel doesn't become a 1 mil + channel I'll lose hope.
Thanks man
love your video dude, keep making!

Im not sure if you treated the metal sheets, but that's going to start rusting within a week you might want to consider painting it.
Yep, clear coating it
@@EvanMonsma awesome, love the content!
Love it. Love your channel 👍🏻
Thanks!
basicly a fancy race dashboard
Yeah lol
still road legal? here in Ireland, I think that'd be not allowed on the road
Everything is legal in the States haha. As long as it’s got turn signals
Dr Tuscon meets Dr Octagon ✨
I asked for it
🫨 I gotta change the title now
I hear you like Plantasia. ❤
friggin epic!
Thanks!
A channel with fewer than 100k subscribers has no business being this good.
(And I'm looking forward to the day this comment becomes outdated)
this is awful in the best way possible. Dont really care much about cars, but if Id have to have a car, this thing is on my list
Thanks lmao - fine line between genius and insanity right
Relays are your friend haha.
I absolutely gotta learn how to wire relays lol
americans never heared of getting their car through TÜV, this thing would never see the streets in germany :D
Haha i be on this vibe
the dashboard looks great but the exterior paint job doesnt look as good
Yeah lol that’s still in progress
