    The lowest priced Lyriq uses the same platform and starts at $60K. It also has the 340 HP RWD powertrain and the 106 kWh battery, but a more luxurious interior. Wouldn’t it be a better value proposition to go with the Lyriq?

      Agreed, the EV and EUV should never have been cancelled when GM has nothing comparable available yet, and other models will take years to scale up, even longer now as GM is delaying EV development again to save cash after their huge dividends

    • @Evan_Land
      @Evan_Land 7 місяців тому

      Agreed. I just purchased a Bolt EUV and it is surprisingly a great car for my needs: 30-60 miles per day around the city/suburbs with level 1 charging at home over night. And as electric cars go, it is great in city life since I can pass any gas car from a stop light.

    • @parasharkchari

      Supposedly, it's coming back in 2025 as an Ultium-platform version. Basically, they killed off the older EV platform and are trying to push the Ultium design as far as they can. That said, I've only seen news to that effect naming the Bolt EV, and it's not explicitly stated whether that also includes the EUV, but given that the EUV had much more sales velocity than the EV once it was introduced, I suspect it would include both.

    I’m holding out for the 2LT AWD that’s coming out soon to replace my Jeep. The RS trim is too expensive for me but I like the size of the rig. Winter driving on the east coast with ground clearance and a rear wiper. ✅

    • @Black-Villain
      @Black-Villain 11 місяців тому +5

      Wouldn't the Lyriq be a better value? A 2LT AWD Blazer is going to cost, what, $59k give or take? Wouldn't it make more sense to spend the extra $2-3k to get the Lyriq which gives you a much nicer interior, larger battery (and possibly better charging performance and better highway efficiency), better dealer/service experience, and (I think) more power?

    • @00_UU
      @00_UU 11 місяців тому +3

      I second Black Villain. Lyriq is getting heavily discounted right now, 5k below MSRP is easy to find. Some dealers still have 2023 Lyriqs. Wait for January 2024, those older Lyriqs will probably get 7-10k discounts. Bigly hugely better value than any new Blazer EV, unless you just love how Blazer looks.

    • @pattimc5277

      Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve looked at the Lyriq and it’s pretty close to what the blazer offers. The 2LT is supposed to start at $60k CAD and the Lyriq starts at pretty much $73k CAD. But I’ll look for any markdowns because it’s probably going to be a month or two before the 2LT is in stock.

    The lyriq is not that much more. I think the blazer looks better. I hear the interior feels cheap on the blazer vs lyriq, which makes sense as thats what cadillac does. I think the only way that vehicle makes sense to me is with AWD and 500hp, but that may push the cost up too high. I can get a gas car for so much less, that offsets the savings of an ev. My mustang has had literally zero issues after 12 years and 100k miles. The gas and oil changes and repairs would be lower over the life of the car and certainly I dont pay all that up front with a gas car, but you do with electric. Plus road trips are a no go with ev. I would rent gas, as I already do now even with my gas car, just for more room. I feel like I need the next generation ev to go electric. If they get cheaper, are solid state and safer, weigh less, and charge fast - then its obvious, but that wont happen for a while - maybe in 5 years that all will happen, but every year they are getting more attractive.

    It's great how modular a dual-motor EV platform is in that it can be FWD, RWD, or AWD just by adding or omitting motors at the time of assembly. Crazy how Honda continues to be that stubborn automaker in that they don't offer their rebadge of this car, the Prologue, in RWD even though the platform allows for it. They can't even bother to use a longitudinally-mounted engine unless design limitations force them to like with the 2nd gen NSX and its turbo situation.

When the Tesla rep came out, he said “Oh its a setting you have to activate to shut it off by leaving and locking it.” That’s great. So had I not known this and was dumb enough to buy this car I would find it with a dead battery the next day I go to drive it. I’m sorry but I want a normal button. This review was great except he was wrong about SO many details.
    The Model Y is a measurable roomier interior
    Model Y has more range and performance for less money
    DAS is way better and cheaper in a Tesla
    The Blazer EV looks great and has very comfortable seating, but it’s very small and has no 3rd row option.
    The Bolt EV is faster the the 2LT and 1RS and has almost identical range even with 24 fewer kWh
    TFL totally ignored the DISMAL charging curve and terrible 150kW peak. Tesla has 250kW and much better curve.
    If you hate yourself as much as you hate Elon then this is a great option. I personally bought a 2RS. But without massive discounts from the dealership and GM this is hot garbage.

    Model Y long range. All wheel drive, more storage and cargo area, more passenger room, faster, infinitely better charging network, no greedy dealership mark ups, at home service for general maintenance and some repairs, most American made car you can buy, highest rated for crash safety, and most important not a GM… there is a reason the model y is the third best selling car in the US.

      I think it could be a difference in how they calculate the volume. AFIAK, or been able to determine, Tesla calculation is based on filling the vehicle to roof as if you filled it with water and then measured the volume of water. GM and others follow SAE measurements which do not really measure “true volume” but rather a volume based on on some standard length, width, height measurements, at specific locations of the interior. Also, the Y listed volume includes the frunk space.

    Great video review. EVs are fantastic but just not practical. Living in the DC area and being middle class there is no way I could have an EV. Living in an apartment or even townhouse does not even allow for home charging. Hybrids please tell the automotive companies hybrid please.
