Well there's one other guy that's in the same league as Matteo; his name is Joshua Meader. Both of them have seemingly unlimited chops and knowledge, can play the crap out of virtually any musical genre and I think they're both in their 20s. Joshua transcribes, memorizes and plays a lot of solos by everybody from Eddie Van Halen to Michael Brecker, but he composes and plays his own music too and creates very unique versions of standards like "Skylark." I consider myself to be a reasonably accomplished guitar player, but these guys make me feel like a novice! I've been watching these guys with my jaw on the floor for a couple of years now. I'm just happy that the state of music is in good hands with these young'uns.

Those "yawn" comments remind me of that movie scene in which the emperor of Austria criticizes WAM for playing "too many notes"😂😂😂! In my very humble musician life i had to contend just from the start with people who criticized me for taking care of my technique. Soulless playing they used to call it. Amusing.

I'm blown away by how many jealous comments this channel attract. They're on *all* shred videos but this channel attracts a lot, I guess because it's dedicated to face-melting.
20 years ago the formula was just this: Drop insult. The jealousy was too transparent, though, so about ten years ago it turned into this: Drop unfelt compliment so of course you *can't* be jealous, then drop insult that sounds more like a grievance. It's hilarious. I make a game out of looking for the first one each video.
"Wow! Very impressive technique! I'm sure he must have practiced thousands of hours alone in his bedroom... shame he'll never write a hit song. Hopefully someday he learns he still ain't shit and there's a whole other world out there of REAL chops. Am I right fellas?"
So funny they don't think we can't see their raging jealousy, especially when the player is young.
You literally never see shredders on blues videos, especially of a young musician, saying, "Wow! Really nice bends! Too bad he's sloppy and slow as hell. Maybe one day he'll learn how to sweep."
Never. Because they're not jealous and they respect it. People click away when they simply don't like something. They leave jealous comments when they're, well, jealous. Sometimes I think they don't even realize just how much they are subconsciously. It's like it literally angers them to see technique beyond their reach getting attention.
    Cry more.

Entire world now is recognizing MM value. Al di Meola, Steve Vai, Joe Bonamassa, Neal Schon, Jan Akkerman, Steve Burns, and many other great guitarists respect and admire him.

@@flashraylaser157 Please, grow up. Jean Reinhardt in 1910 was "inventing" this technique with his index and middle, third fourth fingers of his left crippled hand. You can't Memorex the original, and A.I. is always ARTIFCIAL.

@@davidgerlach1132 And Niccolò Paganini of the 1700s was one of the most technical shredders of all time and would almost undoubtedly slay every shredder alive today if he practiced guitar for like 6 months.
It's not an old VS young thing. Paganini dealt with tons of jealous comments over a hundred years before either of us were born: They said he was only so good because he clearly sold his soul to the devil so it didn't count.
Musicians have always been jealous of technique. Many years ago I was playing a track of mine (as in the recording) in a music story and this guy who seemed to really, really like me a lot before walked in and said, "Hell yeah! Is this Paul Gilbert?"
I don't know why he thought that besides having really fast alternate picking because the track also had a lot of electronic elements Gilbert would probably never use and we have fairly different vibrato and phrasing. I was too embarrassed to answer quickly and a friend said, "Haha, it's actually *him*."
The guy just nodded and was completely cold after that for years. It wasn't until our 30s and he'd stopped playing guitar that he admitted to unfairly being an asshole to me because he had been really jealous that he also practiced hard and his technique wasn't as good. I imagine he never even would have if he'd kept playing. It's like it made me a literal bad person to him. So weird.
Here's a social experiment I've done. If I play something "soulful" and slow-paced before people have any idea I can shred, I get comments from this sort of people like, "Yes! You feel it! Keep on truckin' man! Great to see the real stuff kept alive!"
But if I start off sweeping and 8-finger tapping until someone makes a comment about there being no "feel" and then switch, they say it sounds fake and unauthentic, not like greats like Hendrix. It's so hilarious. Pure jealousy, scientifically confirmed, even if it's subconscious on their part.
Also, thanks for making it clear you're already terrified of A.I. outdoing even the prodigies. Music is an art, not a sport. It means nothing if it's natural. If an A.I. can someday outdo humans even in terms of the more "soulful" elements... let me rephrase this. If an A.I. someday can make a piece that someone hears and says (without knowing), "This is both the most technical and most feeling guitarist I've ever heard," then it remains the best guitarist they've ever heard even if they later deny it when they find out it was A.I.
Life isn't fair. Most people learn that at some point. Welcome to reality.

@@davidgerlach1132 Side note: Plenty of people can shred with their middle, ring, and pinky fingers. It's literally a well-known practice technique among shredders, myself included. If you can get your 3-note-per-string scales down that way smooth and quickly, then practice your ring-pinky trills until they're as quick as your index-middle ones, your hands are in great shape.
