      @Brandon Slezak People were young and fairly irrational back then, the internet was not really 'new' but was still making its way into being a commonly used and understood media. Nowadays people are starting to realize the happenings of the interwebs are not comparable to their irl acts. I haven't the slightest doubt that if she could've seen what happened her passion for WoW alone would've made her smile, it was a very WARcraft thing to happen.

    My supervisor went off on a tangent this morning about his WoW career, offhandedly mentioned that he was once involved in a raid that made it into a few gaming articles/magazines. “There may even be a video floating around still” He got kicked out of his guild for his involvement, but maintains that she would’ve appreciated the raid as they’d played alongside and against each other plenty. Found this video easily and he giddily pointed out his healer in the midst of the chaos.

      As a pvper, I think most of us would've appreciated our enemies coming to send us off in the best way they can. Through glorious pvp. Cause it's something I loved, and I'd love it a lot more then a RP funeral thing. I'd also be disappointed my homies got obliterated because none of then had the pvp sense to know they were in a pvp server, pvp flagged, and massed up making them easy targets.... (Considering I wiped an entire pve raid group that was pvp flagged and didn't expect the mage-qusition in rift during SL...) But beyond that, I think being honored the way I played the game, through anything red is dead pvp, would be dope. If I die, and someone has that idea. If it doesn't get attacked. Imma be big disappointed.

      Plot twist: One can dirty talk, spank, and pound away with both full consent and while also viewing your partner as a peer, and not your subordinate.
      Even if it's true that many women pair off with "alphas" over "betas" - extremely vague, subjective, overused terms, by the way - I'll wager that the correlation doesn't equal causation in quite the way many think, in a lot of cases.
      I'd wager that not near so many women dislike people whom you'd label "betas that respect them", so much as "alphas" are generally the sort of men who are aggressive. In being aggressive, they will take chances that more reserved men will not take, and, though they regularly strike out, the reserved 'beta" misses 100% of the shots he doesn't take. There are men who won't risk complimenting a woman's appearance for fear of "creeping her out", making her feel "objectified", etc. Lo and behold, the self-declared alpha doesn't give a fuck *who* he creeps out or makes feel like an object, so he's going to land a woman here and there by taking exponentially more shots than the "beta". The "alpha", if approached by a "beta" and told to maybe leave a girl alone because she "doesn't seem that into you", is probably willing to escalate to a fistfight. The less combat-inclined beta is more likely to verbally deescalate, and its the fault of our genes and psychology that, "in the land of the unassertive, the aggressive man is king"...
      Being a narcissistic sociopath with a penchant for misogyny and choosing violence as a means of conflict resolution might be embedded in our primate collective subconscious, but we're making slow but steady attempts to wean ourselves off of the teat of malevolence and "might is right" philosophy in favor of compassion and fairness. All of those values are subjective, I get that, and there likely is no absolute moral code which applies to all of us, in the end. Still, I favor what I favor, you favor what you favor, you'll speak out in favor of what you value, and I will do the same.
      Such is life.

    • @tomwolfe7782
      @tomwolfe7782 5 років тому +5

      @Merengues PerSempre
      For me to "strawman" your position, I'd have to misrepresent it, and then "defeat" the misrepresented version of it. I never once responded to your claim about what female politics has brought us, and I left it completely off the table. I have no idea what you even mean by that. Do you believe that women brought Trump into power? Who knows...? I'm generally uninterested in the political facet of it.
      Anyhow, the only thing I responded to was that women "love to be demeaned, slapped, choked, and fucked really hard". If you don't find those descriptors "aggressive" behavior in any context, then I don't understand you, for sure. l went on to describe the sorts of accompanying behaviors I socially have come to expect from people who espouse the notion that women "secretly enjoy" being treated the way you describe, but as with any stereotype, perhaps you don't fit the bill. I do not know you, and I cannot say. This was much less a "debate" than a "discussion". All depends on how you frame it, I suppose. :P
      Side note, aggression necessitates confidence, but confidence does not necessitate aggression. Just one of those "All X are Y, but not all Y are X" kind of scenarios. I don't know that we disagree on that as much as you might think at first glance. We'll see...

    All the fake outrage and legitimate melodramatic outrage over the movement of pixels not realizing the person who sadly passed in real life I bet anything would have been laughing if they could watch what happened - and thoroughly enjoyed it. WoW history, they are now immortalized.

    I’ve never played WoW and I have heard about this funeral raid. It will probably go down as “The most well-known funeral in all gaming history”.

    I did and still find this to be hysterical, because it's a fucking video game which cheapened their whole thing to begin with, so raiding it was funny. And I do not care what you reading this thinks about me for that. This will always be funny.

      Almost forgot the corrupted blood "incidents", the sh*tshow that was the AQ gate opening events, Leeroy Jenkins even if it was completely staged.

      @Malikav Anon Leeroy Jenkins was probably the best until it came out it was staged. I have to agree this was the single most epic moment to inspire all shenanigans to come.

      I think it was a trashy thing to do, friends and guildmates wanted to say goodbye to one of their friends, then these immature, sociopaths decide: Know what? Let us fuck with that because we are that kind of horrible scum. What did they gain out of that? Some form of achievement? They killed unarmed, unarmored, grieving people. To make themselves feel good? Their lives must be pretty trash to ruin a heart-felt gesture for their own egos. It was a vile thing to do.

      If I remember right, the girl died because she stayed so long in a marathon WoW session without sleep, bathroom, or food/drink, that her body shut down. I've never faulted her family or friends for mourning, but my thought at the time when I read the first articles about this when it happened was, "Isn't that funeral glorifying (or at least glossing over) the worst behavior in gaming?"
      When you add to that, that the funeral was in a PvP zone (when there are plenty of pretty places that would've been safe), I had a hard time being offended on the mourners behalf, or mad at Serenity Now. In fact, I almost started playing WoW just to game with them...

    • @izntdan

      Imaran eh crashing an online funeral isn’t the same as crashing a real funeral. Just like killing people at an online funeral isn’t the same as killing people at a real funeral. Was it a dick move, yes. Should they have held the funeral in their own capital or safe zone so as to avoid this, also yes.

      Imaran getting killed during a ceremony in a VIDEO GAME is not the same as being raped in real life you dense fucking idiot, grow a pair it's just a joke.
