another tip for the id.3/4 (or general volkswagen) if you do not have the backup camera and you need to parallel park, switch the mirror control (to R in my case and put the car in reverse. You can now ajust the mirror to have it tilti downwards. If you then put the car in drive it will move up again and if you put it in reversie(while the mirrir is in the R position) the mirror will move back down in the position you set earlier. With this you can see way better where the tire is in relation to the curb. As I said, this is not really an ID feature but more volkswagen group, so also skoda, audi and seat can do this.
Thanks for the tips I learned from them. One from me. In the charging port there is a cap over the DC inlet. You can hook this cap up on a half hidden hook that is on the charging door. I use it if there is a windy weather.

Thank you so much for these videos . I am a fan of European cars especially Volkswagens . However I can't stand all these ridiculous touch screens controls as they're so distracting and even dangerous . I rather have analoge instrumentation ,gearshift lever between driver and front passenger as in manual transmission , and column stalks one foe washer wiper the other for lights. The ONLY useful thing about touchscreen is rear camera mode when in reverse and it turning GPS map . I took one look at Tesla and said FORGET IT . I am staying with VW Diesel sorry .
Hi, every time I get out of the car, it tells me the lights are on and asks me to turn off the lights. How do I get it to stop asking me this everytime I get out? Please help
@@Aliogana I have the same problem. It is a bug that unfortunately does not go away. I haven't had a software update yet either, to see if that would fix it.
There were a few good nuggets in here, thanks for the video. Sadly, the window controls, even with the "Hold till it blinks to control all" feature is still terrible. Some things need to be physical switches, and windows are one of them... I don't know about everyone else but having to look down to see if the rear light is activated because it's not a reliable BUTTON to physically press is pretty annoying (and unsafe)
Is there a way to keep the car in neutral when u exit the car? Here in NYC many car qashes dont allow us to remain in the car while it goes through the wash so we must exit and I believe that shuts the car off.
Lovin your id4 tips, so thank you!! Wondering if there's a way to stop radio or Sirius from playing automatically when u get in car? We keep turning it off, but every time we restart it comes on again. Driving us nuts and can’t find in manual. Thanks!
Thank you, Dan! I spent some time this morning trying to find this for you but I couldn't get any good information either. I am betting the ID4 software just doesn't have that functionality at this point. One thing I can recommend is just hitting the power button at the base of the screen right before you get out of the vehicle. This should keep the music off next time you get in. A little annoying but I think that works.
Hi, this is very helpful. Everytime I get out the car, it says turn off lights. It didn’t do that when I first got the car and it just started doing it. I may have changed a setting and didn’t realize. How do I get it to stop asking me to turn off lights when I’m getting out the car?
Hi Alina - my ID4 says the same thing every single time I pull into my garage. To my knowledge, this is a software bug and there isn't a fix for it currently.
Hey, great videos! I'm looking to buy - I have a reservation on a Ford Mach E, but given their massive recall and Ford's historically bad record on reliability, I'm now looking elsewhere. Yesterday I drove the ID4, and loved it, EXCEPT I found the handling a little stiff; and as you pointed out, the infotainment system was designed by German engineers for German engineers. Even the salesman was frustrated trying to get one app to work. But a friend who has the ID4 says he just uses Apple Carplay. You said in Part One that you were awaiting a software update - of the sort that Tesla and Ford do all the time. Any sign it's coming? I ask because without this problem, I'm all in on the ID4.
Thanks for the great tips! Every time my phone connects to the car via android app. Google maps comes up… is there a way to configure for not to come up?
Unfortunately, not that I know of. It happens to us also and it when we try to disconnect the phone, they will constantly reconnect. It is frustrating!
I never use buttons to adjust the steering wheel or seat heating. I say: ” hello ID, my ass is freezing” or ”my fingers are in ice”. Also warming up: ” I am cold”…. Try IT! It works very well…
Thank you for the informative video. In your next tips and tricks, can you mention how to get those little red lights you have on the button bar that controls heated seats, climate, and volume? Ours has no lights and feeling around in the dark feels ludicrous. 😂
I have set the rear hatch to open up to a preset height. This works fine, but after operating the car then parking and exiting the vehicle. When I open the hatch via the remote, door switch, foot wave or by hand. It opens half way and stops. I press the button on the door and it opens the rest of the hatch all the way up. I then Close it and attempt it again and all is fine. This happens after operating the car. I have tried re-adjusting the hatch opening many times but no luck. Any tips?

Is anyone else having problems with the Preferred Times for charging? I have a brand new 2022 ID.4. Once I set up my preferred times for after hours charging, when I plug in my level 2 charger the ID.4 charging port lights up like its going to go into immediate charge mode. My 220V level 2 charger "charging light indicator comes on like its starting to charge even though I've programmed the ID.4 to wait until the programmed time. The wall charger then makes a "clunking sound". After about 5 minutes the charging light on the wall charger goes out and the ID.4 goes into wait mode until the programmed time. I have read a number of online posts that others have had a similar issue? Some have reported than there cars will not even take a charge in Preferred Time mode but its possible those had older software.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but if the remotes are set the same as in the Touareg...the seat and mirror position is set by unlocking the car with remote 1 and 2
I just watched a gentleman charge his Tesla using a commando unit, he bought the conversion lead from Tesla for £40 and got the commando box fitted for £300 and it worked great, can I charge an ID4 using this commando unit, it charged his Tesla at 28miles per hour.
I'm not personally familiar with that brand, but a quick search shows that they have home chargers you can use that will deliver this kind of charging performance, yes. You will need to have the right outlet installed for it though.
If anyone is having trouble disconnecting the charger cable, go to the driver's side door and press the child lock. Then, go and depress the chord and remove it! You're welcome!
I appreciate your tips. Can you find out the following... There's a power outlet in the back but it's not active unless i'm sitting in the driver seat. I needed to use it today but couldn't since i couldn't find an easy way to make it active (since i was working alone). I found there's a way if you move its fuse around, but there's got to be an easier way. Thanks!
Is it possible to disable the stupid feature where. You start driving and kinda of jump up in the seat to adjust your shirt or pants and car goes park mode right away and jurks everything inside you
They fold when you park and lock the vehicle. They otherwise do not fold by location automatically. Instead, there is a switch on the door to fold the mirrors.
I got a problem with my info system One is that I can. It connect wirelessly anymore and two the audio quality is really bad The music fades in and out no matter how I set the speed dependency, any ideas ??
That's strange. I assume you've already reset the infotainment screen. I'd do these steps, in order: remove the phone from the paired device list, reset the car to system factory settings, take it to the dealership and have them look at it.
No offense meant, but if he did that, someone else would write on here complaining that he went too fast. Learn to use the double tap on the right side of your UA-cam screen to fast forward or learn to use the speed choice. Snark is not the answer. Good day to you!
This car is a near lemon. The fact that they couldn't spring for switches for both front and rear rather than a toggle that sometimes works is just poor engineering. There is a laundry list of horrible design issues I could rattle off but the one that makes me crazy is that fucking panic button on the fob. It goes off constantly! I took several people's advice and bought a leather fob case but that has only slightly lessened the incidence of this horrifying event. If these engineers were around 80 years ago WWII would have ended in 1942.

How can I manually emergency stop the car without the brake pedal? Will holding the 'Park' button do it?
Hi John - Yes, exactly. Push in the park button and hold it. The vehicle will immediately apply the brakes and the vehicle will stop rapidly.
Hey. Great video. Thanks 😊
But I don’t understand the feature with seats. I think this is the usual use for electric seats with the memory 😬🤷🏼♂️
It resets the seats every time (doesn’t stay in that position once you leave the car).
The seat position memory also remembers your personal wing mirror position
Thank you for this tip, Hugh!
In the US, that's only true on the Pro S Plus models - Pro S (non-Plus) models only remember seats, not mirrors :(
Love these. Thanks for doing them.

When you are in reverse, try cycling through the headlight toggle. If that doesn't make it come on, you should have a dealer take a quick look at it.
