Hooped Bivvy And Tarp Wild Camp In The Moelwyn Mountains - Via Cnicht

In this video I finally manage to return to the the Moelwyn Mountain range in Snowdonia to summit Cnicht, with clear skies and record some amazing views.
I found a great pitch and enjoyed using some new gear for the night. I cooked a simple meal of cold soaked vegetable rice, mushrooms and bacon. In the morning I cooking boiled eggs for the first time on a wild camp.
I had a fantastic microadventure in the Moelwyns and would totally recommend it for anyone seeking a quieter and less popular location to wild camp but still offering all of the views and adventure.

You really captured the landscape Jas lad, cracking region to visit and wild camp. Setup was pucker, proper recce LUP style lol. Good effort on the TAB, mat was brilliant, nice and thick. This channel deserves more views, bloody YT algorithm.

Really enjoyed that Ja. Interesting to see how the new setup went. Stunning views - makes me think I should travel more to wild camp. A little bit of cooking is always a bit nicer than an MRE pouch or something similar methinks. Cheers Budd 👍
Thank you Giles 🙏 I'm trying to reduce the weight of my overall setup, which better suits my style of adventures and it would have been rude not to put the Dutch Army hooped bivvy to the test. I think that everyone of us that follow you pal, would be happy to see you do your thing wherever it makes you happy. Camping up there with a biv and tarp blows my mind. Ive only just got me head around tarp and hammock in the woods. I must get a biv and try it one day up on the moor. Great content, enjoyed!

Glad you caught it on camera on the first day and was surprised you got some usable audio on the summit of Cnicht, wind sounded pretty hard core. I'm guessing you have some of wind jammer for your camera?
The only disappointment was you didn't have toasty soldiers to dip in your egg 😂

Nice setup Jay I use my DD supperlight tarp more than my others it packs down so small you had a great location just a pity about the clag food worked out well atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

Windy up there mate and well filmed as that can be a challenge. Tell me about the cold water in the rice please, whats does it do? That bivvy is a real gem bud. Wales reminds me of the Lake district and also here. I really want to get out for a wld camp soon, but would like to find somewhere unknown ha ha. Eggs spot on there Jason, they way I like them. Difficult to go light into the hills given the adverse conditions but you also do well. Cheers.
Hi Chris, yeah it was a tad windy at times mate but a fantastic area to explore. Cold soaking is something that some ultralight backpackers do when they don't want to take a stove. Ok for warmer climates when you know that you'll have reliable water sources along the trail. I find that it works well with rice. Leave it for around 4 to 5 hours to absorb the water and you only need to quickly heat it through with a couple of additional ingredients. I find that it's quite a quick, cheap and fairly lightweight meal for taking up the hills. I hope that you manage to get out for a wild camp soon bud. I bet there's some cracking spots up by you. Bostin location and setup Mucker. That is some gift those Dutch Army Hooped BIVIs retail at around the £100+ mark and that is just for Long, Extra Long and you can add a few more spondulas. I've a few of them, (don't ask how), never slept in one yet, set them up and have toyed with adding more loops/tags at the bottom end for a second hoop which you can find or have made up. Yes, there is a weight pay off, but I'd feel happier with the hooped version in clagg rather than just lying on the ground in the lighter more compact BIVI. I think it essential for that extra admin area of a Tarp or bug net during the summer, but then you'd only need a summer bag too. My old Man RIP, would have termed you Cack-handed shelling those eggs. 😁🤦👍
Hi Robert. Yeah, I was absolutely blown away by Danny's generosity. He's a top lad and currently on his massive coastal walk around the UK. I really enjoyed the hoop bivvy and it's got me looking at lighter versions by Snugpak at around the same money as the DA hooped XL.
