    Thanks for posting this - I can't believe Ford would making it SOOOO difficult to just change a taillight bulb.
    Crazy!
    Now to go find my 11mm deep sockets...
    :-)

      Yeah, it's not like the 2000-2007 models where they've come with three screw knobs on both sides.

    Great video. Helped me replace a burned out bulb. I've got a 2010 Focus. FYI, I was able to remove the plastic panels without stripping the rubber. Also, make sure you have the deep socket attachment for your rachet. I had to borrow one and it was just barely deep enough to get over the screw that the bolt is on. Also, the plastic panels have clips that you have to pop off the frame to remove them, but they aren't too hard to get off and snap back in place easily as well. Thanks again for the video.

    I have to change my turn signal bulb and this pissed me off just watching it. Why do you have to take so much apart just to change a bulb

      I totally agree with you. Was so disappointed because I was gonna set up my backup camera. Now I have to buy deep socket just to get that second nut out!! What a failed built!

      Replacing the rear bulbs on my 2013 VW Golf and my girlfriend’s Hyundia Elantra was more of a pain in the ass than this. They don’t make vehicles easy to work on like they used to.

    Thanks for this video, saved me a lot of time. I just changed out the right side in my 2010 SES. For what it's worth, I was able to get by only taking out the 2 right-most of the 4 retainers from the long piece along the back. This allowed me to remove the plastic cover on the right side.

    I had hard time to get one side of bulb out. I think it is their assembly issue. I had to take the small light out first then put the break light bulb in. Take it out, put it back in took me an hour... Thanks, I learned something.💕😊

    Thanks for this great video! I have zero mechanic experience and was able to change my bulb easily. Thanks to all the suggestions about the deep socket and not having to take of the trunk piece and rubber. I was able to remove the screws from the panel over the lights and slide it out easily.

    lmao next we have to take the tires off then we can get to the hood and remove that so that we can get to the tail lights.

    I have a Ford Edge and you don't have to go through all this boloney to access the bulb. Geeez, you have to take off the entire panel for the Focus. That's ridiculous. My son has the focus and he's doing it right now. I'm here watching in case I need to help LOL.

    NO need to take off center piece or the rubber!!! Just angle the side piece and it will come right out.

  • @mcconn746

    I removed the side panel clips, 1 clip on the middle panel and gently slid the side panel from under the middle panel without removing it. It was also easily reinserted. There was no thread on the inside part of the clips so the screws would not screw out so I had to break them.

    • @hook1879

      I just had to do the same thing. Plug was stripped so I just had to use pliers to pull out the screws. I had one that I used to hold everything back together, so there was no rattling once I started driving again.

    You DO NOT need to pull the rubber off or the middle plastic cover. The covers to the left or right can come off without touching the rubber or middle cover.

    • @notthatdonald1385
      @notthatdonald1385 4 роки тому

      Agreed. You would have to reseal the rubber with a liquid sealant.

    for left side you have to separate the connector at the bulb holder; then you can extract the bulb holder with dead bulb. Crazy complicated for a "simple" bulb replacement. That said, this is the first time I've had to replace any rear bulb in 9 years of ownship. The car is 10 years old before having to replace a rear bulb!!!

    FYI YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ALL THIS TEARING APART! Just remove corner section and 1 screw in flat section, 11mm deep well and needle nose plier, also the screws in my 08 focus were plastic and did not screw out I had to pry them out and screw out

  • @petertalbot5303
    @petertalbot5303 5 років тому +3

    That right side was easy.......try replacing the left side, the stop light/turnsignal bulb (3157) is much much harder to remove because the bulb holder hits against the housing after twisting to extract.

    If you have even basic mechanical skills, and some *patience* , you don't have to do all this. The plastic corner panels will give you access to the light assembly. Pulling off the rubber seals means you must clean off dried sealant, and reseal it or you may get water/melting snow in the trunk and light assembly. There are way better videos on YT.
