This vehicle will show you how to fix the shifter on any Ford or Mercury vehicles. Usually over time the shifter gets out of position and you are not able to use certain gears or more commonly your gears are mixed (to go reverse you have to be in neutral. Etc) it’s a quick fix and works on any Ford or Mercury

Wow! My shifter was loose and getting worse. I happened across this video and sure enough, there was the screw tucked in a corner on the floor. At least a year and it never got found or sucked up by a vaccuum. I screwed it back in with an allen wrench, tightened the other one while I was there and it now it works just like it is supposed to. I wish I could give this guy a million stars! Saved me a fortune!
Thank you so much! I got home last night and found it on the floor! I wish I saw this before I took off plastic covers 😂
Thanks a million! Brother you saved me when I was stranded in pouring rain. Working like a Champ! God Bless!
Thanks man I thought it was the bushings I changed them and no luck then I saw an extra bolt. You saved me a trip to the dealership easy fix thank you for posting
theres also a small black adjuster wheel in there to line up the shifter indicator
What does it look like because mine is not missing a bolt but still out of place
@@jayhillsofficialpage7365 a black spindel well inside of a white clip with a string> spin the black wheel until it lines up. hope this helps.
@@MONEYYCARLOMUZIK23the black spindle is on top of the steering column, not below, right?
Great video!
Can you add A lock washer onto screw so It doesn't loosen up again??
You're a goddamned legend.
Can you buy one if you cannot find it anywhere in the cab? The T30 bolt.
Tkx just what i wanted to know
Thanks I have the exact problem!
Can you tell me what type of bolt it is
T-30 , 7mm and T-27 also for related issues like transmission linkage
Very helpful. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!.
I think the bolt hole lines up better if you put the shifter in neutral to begin with...
Thank you for this information I was thinking the same
Thanks I appreciate that more than you know.
BIG SHOUT OUT BRO!! This helped me out of a jam!
Thanks man..
Amazing ❤😂
Any one know how to fix that exact problem on the generation after that 2004 to 2008??
Hey I really need your help on diagnosing my car. It's a 2000 mercury grand marquis and the linkage is messed up and possibly the shift cable, but I'm not sure if I need a shift tube as well, is there anyway of knowing exactly what I need to fix it without taking it apart. Cause I cant afford a mechanic so I'm doing it myself. Lord help me 😟😂
This fix that I show on the video is very very common on the grand marquis, check if you are just not missing the bolts like in my video
I got the same car and I just replaced my heater core with a friend I cant see what gear the shifter is in either I have to base off lights or memory
Would have been better if you would have told the Torx size was T30.
Bro literally did 1:33
