The Rockpalast shows, the Old Gray Whistle Test, and Werchter in '80, '81 are some of the band's most beautiful shows and with very good image and sound quality. to enjoy them! Thanks!
Ever since I bought Dire Straits debut album I have played it over and over. I always loved In The Gallery, and I always equated it with how people treated Van Gough's art work.
I remember when this album was released I immediately went and bought it and played it to death. I'd heard them on the Jonathan Peel show and was blown away about how different and raw the music was and I was amazed with Mark's guitar even then. For me the first album which this track is from, will always be the best.
Another wonderful song and performance! Great comments from you both. Pure raw musicianship and talent and great lyricism. You would also enjoy the next two songs from this concert 'Follow Me Home' and 'News' from the Communique album.
The old story of the artists not recognised till after they die and the dealers cashing in .The story in the song of Harry shows Mark's work as a journalist relates to his lyrics.
I don't see this song listened to often. Great song, cynical in all the best ways! Definitely a faster oace than the studio version. Still clean as heck with all the great micro expressions.
I bet you'd like John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band. Try songs like "ON THE DARK SIDE", "TENDER YEARS", "WILD SUMMER NIGHTS", "GARDEN OF EDEN" and "TOUGH ALL OVER". They have an awesome sound!!
Ciao, sempre bravi, dovreste mettere in programma la canzone dei Dire Straits NEWS versione Rockpalast 79, dove Mark suona la chitarra in modo magnifico. Provate a sentire. Grazie
Hello, can i recommend an other Dire Straits Song on this way? Dire Straits - Why Worry (Live at Wembley 1985) would be nice. It's like a lullaby from Dire Straits. Greetings from Germany. Have a nice weekend.
listen to "We are southamerican rockers" by los prisioneros, this song was the video used to open the MTV latinos in 1993, it is a very good song, please listen to it with lyrics because los prisioneros have social message in all their songs.
there is no video with lyrics in English but here I leave its translation They are beautiful noises that come out of the tents They pierce the people and move their feet Marching drums, sharp guitars Skeptical voices singing of politics Don't be scared, it's better to be thrown away You didn't make it to work today Don't take the message, take the hits We say what you know but we know how to talk It's like rock'n roll, pure trash music A little transformed to make it sound the same We paint the monkey, but it's all the same to us Plagiarizing and copying like all the rest of us Elvis, shake it off in your crypt We are South American rockers Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines We have no complex about mixing styles As long as they smell gringo and can be danced to Our lousy music is no pleasure for gods We'll never win immortality Flowers and love, a girl's business Screaming and kicking is tapping (your young blood) This is a business, but a lousy business Lying and stealing gets you a better deal Presley, shake in your crypt We are South American rockers Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines We are South American rockers Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines South American rockers Southamerican deluded No women, no millions, no Cadillacs We make it perfect, we make it fantastic We're envious of the real rockers Without any shame! Classic for sure. I just love Mark and Dire Straits.
This is my favourite Dire Straits era. Great choice.
I'm loving your eye-glasses. That blue/aqua marine really suits you💙💙💙
studio version needs to be done , this one doesn't do enough justice
Totally agree! This song spits Venom!!
Agreed.
Apparently it was his friend Steve Phillips’ father Harry.

Mark's vocals tell the story, but his guitar does the singing.
Happy you got to this
I decide who gets the break , and who's gonna be in the galle- galle-galle- gallery.

Another great Mark song, do have a listen to 'Two Young Lovers' Dire Straits 1986 Sydney Live shows how unselfish Mark is.
Please try “Wild theme” live version at Nimes. Simply lovely!
Listen to Redcar 1997 or any Hillbillies version and it'll blow you're mind if you think that one's good.
Pick!
I thought they lost some edge, after Pick Withers left.

They are beautiful noises that come out of the tents
They pierce the people and move their feet
Marching drums, sharp guitars
Skeptical voices singing of politics
Don't be scared, it's better to be thrown away
You didn't make it to work today
Don't take the message, take the hits
We say what you know but we know how to talk
It's like rock'n roll, pure trash music
A little transformed to make it sound the same
We paint the monkey, but it's all the same to us
Plagiarizing and copying like all the rest of us
Elvis, shake it off in your crypt
We are South American rockers
Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines
We have no complex about mixing styles
As long as they smell gringo and can be danced to
Our lousy music is no pleasure for gods
We'll never win immortality
Flowers and love, a girl's business
Screaming and kicking is tapping (your young blood)
This is a business, but a lousy business
Lying and stealing gets you a better deal
Presley, shake in your crypt
We are South American rockers
Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines
We are South American rockers
Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines
South American rockers
Southamerican deluded
No women, no millions, no Cadillacs
We make it perfect, we make it fantastic
We're envious of the real rockers
Without any shame!
Cause we are Southamerican rockers
Nous sommes rockers sudamericaines
We are South American rockers
We are South American rockers
South American rockers
Rockers sudamericai
Thank you for your suggestion 😊
An injustice to this song, the album version is so much better. Never listen to a live version.
