    What a great way to start the day. Can you think of a better way? And which tires should Erik get for his Range Rover? 🤙😀

    Great opening. awesome music, and enjoyable till the end. The scene at 23:26 reminded me of one of the shots in the jungles. On one of the Camel trophy videos. :) Weather it is a mud bog, or a mountain. we upgrade our trucks to get over those obstacles. just as we upgrade ourselves after obstacles in life. And it is that feeling, having conquering those with the decisions that we make. in this case your tires. that let us know we are are to right track. and give us enjoyment. some do not understand this. But "WE" do. Have a great one guys.

      Thanks man and what a wonderful comment. I truly see and feel what you mean. The Camel throphy feeling is what many of us stribe to find when we are out there, I aspecially like the part of finding new tracks and overcome it with your friends by your side. I wish I could go out like this every other week. 👍🙂 Maybe some day.

      Hey Lindsay and thanks. We actually had the maxtrax with us but wanted to try this without just to see how good the tires were compared to when Erik, on an earlier video, tried the same track in his RRC. Best, Simon

    I had a 2006 L322 and ran Goodyear wrangler duratracs on it.
    When it’s that muddy, momentum is your friend. Try running it in high or at least 3rd or 4th low. Add some lockers to your axles too.
    Thanks for sharing the beautiful Norwegian countryside.

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  4 роки тому +1

      Okay, we have been talking tires for his L322 since this moment. :) And yeah, momentum was the key here. I always try to go slow first to minimize the risk of damaging the car as we are overlanding and need to go on. So lockers is really on the list of thing that I want, so I can keep on going slow in harder terrain. How did you find the Duratracs? I think Erik likes the Cooper tires, STT pro's that he uses on his RRC. You are more than welcome, this is what I love, going on these trips, filming and sharing it with others who shares the overlanding and car passion. 🙂

      @@LandRoverDrive I ran cooper stt on my ‘74 LR SIII 109” and they were great for rock, gravel and mud, not so much for the snow and ice but you could put studs in them. I ran cooper at on my discovery 1 and they were good in snow and okay in mud but drove me nuts picking up rocks from gravel and not letting them go. I thought the duratracs were perfect for the l322 decent mud pattern some sidewall tread quiet on pavement and with sipes in the treads very sticky on wet rocks.
      I have Michelin xzl’s on my defenders as they came that way from the Australian army and they do great here in Hawaii on the lava rock that tears tires to shreds.
      You are right to be cautious wet grass and slick mud will end your day quickly when trees and rocks are near.🤙🏻

      @@jdenmark1287 Yeah, suddenly a slip and slide event. 😅 Thanks for your feedback on the tires. Erik will see this. 👌 We run 100% winter tires during winter, only thing that can handle all the conditions we see here. Changes so fast, so studded winter tires is the best choice. The STT pro’a seems to have been working great for Erik so far and it will be fun to see what he will end up with. I just saw a documentary on Hawaii the other day, beautiful place and I can understand the lava rock issue you mentioned. Did not know you got snow there. Pretty high mountains and a lot bigger than I thought. 👍😁

    • @jdenmark1287
      @jdenmark1287 4 роки тому +1

      @@LandRoverDrive I grew up in the state of Maine, our winters were pretty similar to yours. I always had studded tires as we constantly had to deal with icy roads. I also put a snowplow on one of my Discovery’s, and it worked great plowing over a mile of dirt roads we lived on.
      Yes, Hawai’i is a unique place, with most of the earths climate zones in one place. I live about eight miles from our latest eruption zone. Our Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa top over 4 km but are deceptive as they have such a gentle slope they don’t appear like mountains. As the island is basically just one big mountain 🏔 poking out of the ocean 🌊 and we live on the top third.

      Next time! 🙂 When Erik get's som new tires we will have to revisit and do it again. We can't have Erike walking all the time. 😉 I hope he will go for some proper tires and build a solid overlander of it. TD5 also has a great tune, but something special about a V8. I'm just hoping he will do something to the exhaust as well. 🤙

      @@LandRoverDrive I wanted steel wheels on mine when I bought him back in 2015. They would have been Wolf steel wheels, but the LR dealer said it wasn't an option on the XS model. Funny that. If I buy them separately it's always an option. I still think about it, having the wheels sprayed in the same colour as the bodywork in the same vein of the Series models. Tyre wise I think I'd stick to BFG AT's.

      Yeah it really is, I'm so glad I get to go overlanding in Norway. The tires made such a huge improvement, not only off-road, the size increase ment for a complely new on-road experience. They are 255/85R16 - so a 33" tire. Best option for a stock Defender in my opinion. 👍🙂

    Where is this? I believe Norway needs a map for «green laning». Overlanding is probably becoming more popular in the future, as you can put your cohort in a Landie and take off.

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  3 роки тому +1

      Green laning map would have been great. We maybe need to call it something else, dirt road laning. :) Only allowed to drive on roads in Norway, or in designated offroad areas. This is on private land so the owner was showing us around. But I have been thinking of a overland map or app for norway abd the northen countries. Would have been great to have. Yeah, overlanding is taking of at the moment in Norway as so many are traveling domestic. For us it's all about finding those hidden places that no one else travel to. 🙂👍 Best, Simon.

  • @Coordinator61
    @Coordinator61 4 роки тому +2

    When you put larger off-road tires on a L322 it will make the normal driving difficult. Plus a L322 weigh up to 2.7 tons. Thats a lot off-road.

    • @erikiversen4497
      @erikiversen4497 4 роки тому +3

      I agree with you all the way! 🙂 think I need to find a smooth spot regarding the size. The L322 Will probably see 90 % of the Black stuff or dirt roads and the classic the opostite way. It will be much better offroad, only 1890 kg or so from stock. You really notice that!😎

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, reliability is also a factor as we have discussed before. We are overlanders first and off-roaders second. On air-suspension failure Erik needs to still be able to drive so tire size will be limited by that. But I suggest some aggressive AT tires as an good option. It would be a shame if Erik have to walk every hill I drive. 😱🤣

    • @Coordinator61
      @Coordinator61 4 роки тому +1

      @@LandRoverDrive Indeed or take the wheels with AT tires with you. A L322 is very capable off road if you have aggressive thread. There are lots of videos on UA-cam to look at. But you need piower to pull it free if you get it stuck haha.

    Har selv en 1985 OneTen HT med 200 tdi og Discovery gearing 1:1,22 og med ca. 480.000 km på klokken. Venter nu spændt på næste afsnit af jeres tur 2020.

    How's the legislation regarding off-roading in Norway? In Finland, you need to have a land owner's permission first. So, that makes (legal) off-roading quite challenging, sadly.

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, off-road driving in Norway is not allowed at all. 😱 Only place you can go is in a designated off-road area. Here we are helping out a farmer keeping his tracks open. To drive on tractor roads in Norway even the owner needs to have a valid reason / a purpose for his drive. So it’s no better and I’m guessing even more strict than Finland. ☺️

    I heard offroading in Norway is illegal.

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  Рік тому +1

      That's true, you can only go offroading in official offroad areas. Here we where helping out a farmer clearing out a tractor road on his property which is "Inland" and not "outland/nature" by definition. In norwegian nature is defined as "Utmark" and farmland is defined as "Innmark". It's really strict so don't go parking outside the roads or parking areas or you can be fined. 😊
