Shortcut or not it’s a faster way around the circuit, so that deserves some props. Cheating has always been a big part of Motorsport so it’s not like it’s something that’s unheard of in the sport, it’s a method to win. Getting bested is hard for anyone to handle, I think we can all understand that one.
Y'all's gotta chill out, if you don't like the shortcuts don't take them. I don't. But this is just like a Speedrun of any other video game, it's for records, not realism, or honor, or enjoyment.
Yeah, this is just showing the possibilities inside a video game, literally just a computer program (and all computer programs have faults) You can also not use these possibilities and take the whole game as seriously and realistically as possible, which is the intended way to go, sure. This is just the hobbyist part of the video game side, many people find enjoyment and excitement in finding exploits in video games. This video game just happens to contradict the racing sim aspect, as obviously this wouldn't be possible IRL, or in a perfect sim. It's unusual to see video game exploits which are unnatural and unrealistic in a Racing Simulator trying to be as realistic as possible. So many people act as if they got hurt or something...

There are some corners that dont allow cutting. But still, the leaderboards are ruined by these shortcuts. So hopefully with this video (series) you guys will get closer to the top of the leaderboards :)
yeah, i completely agree with you. i do want to get top times, but i also play it for the fun/ sense of rally, i just prefer to go around a corner rather than cutting it. maybe i will start doing this, maybe i wont. i cant really make up my mind. wish the devs had done a better job of preventing corner cutting so we didnt have to deal with this dilemma, lol
@@dimitris.4484 Nope. You need to follow the road book. There are so many examples from top level rallying where drivers have been penalised for excessive corner cutting. Driving around gates (or a small forest) and stuff like that. I think that the rule of thumb (at least in WRC) is that you need to have at least one wheel on the road. That's why I stay on the road. Leaderboards doesn't matter if you're having fun.
Actually, cutting in rally is perfectly allowed, if it's not too excessive, and as someone here eloquently mentioned, IRL you need to have at least one wheel on the "road" - as it were.
I’m honestly mostly amazed at how well you can drive all of these cars. I put in a solid number of hours behind the wheel and still feel like a dunce most of the time. Cheers man you’re killing it!

This is exactly why I love driving unpopular, new or stages with aggressive limits in online modes of rally games...because I m one of those people that still listen to the pace notes, instead of learning every stage.
ayo this is exactly what i need, been close to the top of dailies for a while but hadn't really sat down to figure out where some of the extra 5-10 seconds comes off between the top drivers and rank 20
@The Cheese, that extra 5-10 seconds your missing will usually be down to having better racing lines though the stages and having a more capable setup. Players that cut usually end up crashing when they come back onto the stage but sometimes they do get lucky. So cutting is mainly a TT mode thing.
@@tormit Well practice does make perfect. Personally though, I prefer to master the actual corners. I just get a better feeling from it when I still come out on top. Otherwise I would just feel DiRTy.
Difference in all those is bigger especially in last case because you carry more speed further away. In last case vas 185 vs 170km/h before jump. So you go faster 15km/h for another 3 seconds which is another 0,5 second save
Ty for the video, i think some cuts are more relevant with RWD cars cause without doing that the first one is a pain in the a$$ just to achieve p3 to p9 depends of the rwd class on time trial. Nearly half of my crashes happened there lol.

Unfortunately the time diffs aren't too meaningful. Use the ghost option and you won't need to stop at some point and then stop the watches "at these trees".
i don't even know why people hate this video, i always find the people that find exploits in game as smart people. and especially in this game, everyone can use this technique themselves.
I would love if every location ahowed if (and how) they work in reverse. Like the jump near the end of anbank station reverse i believe only works one way. I guess most ppl discover that one by accident xd I would also prefer if you dont show the non shortcut line for every location. Or maybe super fast. Full track guides could be cool but maybe too much work. Or breaking down some tricky sections. Keep up the awesome content!
Not cheating. Maybe codemasters should set track limits if shortcuts are cheating. And maybe if codemasters were capable of making a coherent simulation of how a car would react to stuff like this then it wouldn't work as well. Part of racing is intelligence and thinking outside the box, something needed to find these shortcuts in the first place.

I find this video both saddens me and makes me a little smug. It saddens me because any video that showcases the cuts is a bad thing for the competitive nature of the game. It's just unsporting tbh. It makes me a little smug because as a player that only cuts when the co-driver calls it and works extremely hard on my racing lines to try and take the top spot, I always find myself at the top or just off the top spots of any leaderboard. I must admit though it's actually nice to know the amount of time I'm losing out on from not using these cuts. Just think, what if.... one day I actually decided to use these cuts..... 😉
@@Forza77Samir yes, true. You are near the top too but you use these cuts to get there. Your video for Lejno with the Impreza 08 for a prime example. I chased your time without using cuts with the slower focus 01 and came up just under a second behind you when you took over 5s worth of cuts... 🤔🤷

Also I don't do multiplayer because I have a setup schedule to do. It's also pointless competing against someone who cuts corners to gain an advantage because... Well... They cut corners. I will up the anti on the TT board though. You cut as much as you want with the C4 Lejno wet and I'll run it clean and we'll see a true difference of what the cuts actually do to take the difference of car out of the equation. Sound good?
Best tip practice and confidence, it's gonna be really hard to do a stage perfect the first time, and confidence to take more aggressive/faster lines comes out of practice as well.
Also make sure to tune the car. Even if its by following someone else's tunings until you have the confidence to know how to tailor it to your driving style. I found my favourite rally cars (RWD Gr4/GrA cars like the Escort/Ascona/Sierra) were pretty impossible to drive cleanly and consistently on controller until I worked that stuff out. Not saying I'm great now, but I can at least drive them competently
Most of the possible shortcuts do not make almost any diference in the final stage times.maybe only the large combined cuts in poland can really make any diference even so it only works if you do a perfect stage,otherwise you will lose the gained seconds in some other corner ....

While I do see how I go on the leader boards ( always 20-50 secs slower), I realise that people do cheat, have a better setups I.e proper seating positions etc… or are just heaps better at it…so go for your personal bests and get the rewards that way✌️
All is fair in love and war. Racing is a battleground so if there is a way to get an extra quarter second here or there I can't hate on anyone. When going for leaderboard times people don't use pacenotes they just memorize that track in which case it's already not realistic. People take cuts in Baja irl and Lancia has taken cuts in rally irl. If it is in the game its fair in my opinion. It's not modifying the game it's just getting the most out of each track. That's just life.
Completely ridiculous that these stunts go unpunished by the game. In real life, you wouldn't even think about doing it because it would destroy the car or otherwise unnecessarily damage it, reducing your chances of finishing the race. If the same cannot be done in a video game, then at least time penalties should be given.

focus on better lines and keeping your power level optimal at all times and you can really cut 5-10 seconds
beauty of rally, that is. No two tire in the track policy, just speed and balls to flat out for the whole circuit

They are making dr3 at the moment so they probably will not do anything to dr2 anymore
While I do see how I go on the leader boards ( always 20-50 secs slower), I realise that people do cheat, have a better setups I.e proper seating positions etc… or are just heaps better at it…so go for your personal bests and get the rewards that way✌️

All is fair in love and war. Racing is a battleground so if there is a way to get an extra quarter second here or there I can't hate on anyone. When going for leaderboard times people don't use pacenotes they just memorize that track in which case it's already not realistic. People take cuts in Baja irl and Lancia has taken cuts in rally irl. If it is in the game its fair in my opinion. It's not modifying the game it's just getting the most out of each track. That's just life.
Completely ridiculous that these stunts go unpunished by the game. In real life, you wouldn't even think about doing it because it would destroy the car or otherwise unnecessarily damage it, reducing your chances of finishing the race. If the same cannot be done in a video game, then at least time penalties should be given.

You spill your guts all the time, then end up in like not even top 100 with 20 or 30 seconds off the best time? It's not just the skill that I lack, it's also stupidity (both mine not using or knowing cuts) and devs allowing this xD
