  • How to install a Whirlybird roof vent on a metal roof. This particular whirlybird is a Bradford 300mm CSR WindMaster Roof Vent. $174 from Bunnings, but the process for other brands would be similar if not the exact same.
    Tools needed:
    Drill or impact driver
    Tek screws (or use the supplied screws)
    Timber screw
    Roof silicone
    Caulking gun
    Level
    Rag or baby wipes (or use finger)

    Great guide. Wonder if rain gets in easily given how open and permeable the vent is?

      Thanks. It’s designed specifically so no water gets in

    Thanks for the info! Super helpful! I only have one whirlybird in my roof but on super windy days it makes a ticking/clicking sound. Is there any reason for that? (Unlikely it’s faulty as it’s very newly installed by a professional)

      Hi, no problem.
      Could be a loose screw or bolt, maybe the bearings?

      @@projectlex indeed it was a loose bolt! Who could have known such a small piece would cause such big noise! All fixed!

    so the base is only secure by sitting under the tiles on the row above?

    • @projectlex
      @projectlex  19 днів тому

      And by screwing into wooden batten as per video

    Just wondering why the bottom of the whirlybird isn’t slotted into tiles also?

    • @projectlex
      @projectlex  16 днів тому +1

      Then rain water would be blocked by the tile

    I think the dropkick on the dirt bike in that area needs a whirlybird for his air filled head too.

    • @projectlex
      @projectlex  18 днів тому

      You could paint it the same colour as your roof to blend in or yes black would look good also
