Nice Bill, going to make a handyman out of me! Two questions: 1, what about rain? 2, can you pipe it directly with a ceiling duct to the garage to pull the hot air out pretty effectively?
Thanks for the video, I am thinking of adding a couple to my roof after a recent cold snap revealed a moisture problem with my attic. There was a 50-60 degree Celsius difference in temperature inside to outside, the inside of the roof frosted and as it has heated up some water droplets have appeared in areas of the ceiling.
After reading comments, I think a lot has been left out of your video. If I am to install the way that you have demonstrated, I believe that in years down the road I am going to have many many many problems with my roof as well as many many many expenses oh, that I should not have to do if it was done correctly
Nice work mate, this is my list of things to do. Do you have ventilation in your eves to draw in cooler air from outside and to create better airflow in your ceiling space
How do you keep the rain out and stop the Whirlybird from leaking? I winter, to keep the heat in, would you remove the whirly bit and put a cap over the hole?
Would you know if its possible to move a whirlybird from one spot to another? I'm installing solar panels and want to move my whirlybird to the other side of my concrete tiled roof. I have plenty of spare tiles. Any help much appreciated 👍👍
I have an indoor pool. Replacing the roof (leaking, poor previous install). Never insulated before. Planned to be lined with sisalation/sarking. No insulation as concern about moisture/fungus. Considered 2x whirlybird for better ventilation for pool/water moisture, bit now hearing how loud they are is putting me off- even more reading what youve written. Are vents worth it in my situation, & if so, solar vents?
Venting your roof is a good idea. However, I would not use the vents that spin. The bearings will eventually wear out and start to squeal. I learned that the hard way. I now have vents that don’t move. Make sure they have a screen or wasps will infiltrate and set up shop in your attic.

I like the idea of putting one or couple of these on my roof . But I’m up in Midwest ( Michigan ) and wondering if this would be ok for our area ... Since we get varying temperatures hot and cold .. it then I thought about putting a cut to about an inch larger in size of opening of plywood on the underside that I could slide close in winter time to prevent the heat from escaping
