Glad I got this run in before the King and Queen cleaver nerf. Those are the only cleavers that really contributed to this extreme run. Regular and golden cleavers are good but a joke by comparison.
@@Milenos In fact, its even more broken now if you get the right stuff. I did one with that legendary small golden shield that used other shields around it, and then used 4 shields around that which all chained together to use the weapons around those to combo into my cleaver set up. Get a reforge haste on your main shield, and have the clock boss weapon relic for scaling, and you can go pretty long. By endgame, I was able to get like 150-200 shield PER ENERGY, and my damage started at like 300 per energy and quickly grew by like 50 every energy used. Also, a mandatory relic for these builds is the candle that gets rid of spike build up each hit. Super important to beat bosses like the King. The only thing I was really missing to go super unbeatable was a rage reforge on my starter cleaver which got used 5 times per energy. It wouldve scaled my damage to the moon and I wouldve been basically unbeatable. I actually was basically already unbeatable, but I did the run over the course of a a few days and eventually my save got corrupted so it was sad.
Fun tip: If you look at the top left of an item, it shows how much space it takes up. As at least for Tusk, you thought it took three slots but it actually only took 2
39:00 It's possible to kill this boss on Floor 18 with the "Cleansing Flame" Relic. It takes away -1 Spikes on enemies every time a weapon is used. So this boss never has more than 0-1 spikes at any time, making the fight way more doable. Also, another good tip for very long endless runs is to get items that add haste. Every one haste adds +1 block to your broken ring. So even at a measly 4 haste, your broken ring is doing double the block as normal. It's very possible to block the 45 damage from the boss per turn with the broken ring + haste. The best items for haste are the "Archangel Armor" (+2 haste per turn) and the "Guarding Band" (+1 haste per attacked). You actually had the Guarding Band for a moment in the run and it made me scream when you threw it out! Also additional mana per turn items help a lot, like the "Wizard's Cap" or the "Ancient Tome".
double archangel armor + structure blocks = op as hell.. you gain 3 haste per turn (including the degrading haste at the start) your block increases every turn, much faster than the enemies damage scales.. unfortunately when i had that setup, i swapped my build around like 3 times from a staff, to a bow, to a pick, back to a staff.. if i just got the pick earlier so i could get some gems, i would have been fine.. the final swap back to staff was done out of desperation.. so my damage was lacking and i died to curses from the fire gecko's (the fire damage was negligible, i was ending turns with having another 150 shield even after the fire ticked on them) because i had to pass on them.. i was healing the damage back reasonably well enough at first, but by the end of the run i was taking 50 damage to pass a curse while only dealing about 700 damage and healing like 16, so i was just overwhelmed.. got some pics if you care to see lol
32:58 Is it not more beneficial to replace the central gemstone with the kind cleaver instead of the bottom one so it activates all of the queen cleavers?
@@butwhatif2489 Each cleaver activates once using theri ability, so it'd make the cleaver he wants to hit three times still be hit three times but addsn an extra activitation to the other three in the diamond AND still activates itself once.
That was definitely a big mistake, because that would get him way more cleaver activations, unless they cancel each other out in a weird way. Not that it would've helped, seeing how the run ended.
I wish he realized the king cleaver was better in the middle of the queen cleavers. Not only would it activate the right queen 3 times per use (once from king, twice from the other queens) but I could have made a joke about the king and his harem. Ik, going up against King was a total loss anyways since he didn't have candle, but it's the KING, surrounded by his harem of QUEENS, with his GOLDEN TREASURE stashed behind him, his palace decorated by JUWELS.

imagine hearing a mouse with an army of cleavers, tearing through the dungeon like knife cutting through butter you get ready to face them and they just die with their own first strike
Watching him phase out literal relics like ore instead of the block ring he rarely uses, and would be useless if used anyways (since enemies scale so fast that he'd likely die by the time he needs to use it anyways, or lock himself into dying the very next turn) was pretty painful.... Not that it mattered I suppose :P
Not that the block ring was any good, but ore was pretty bad if you did the math. Ore only added about 20 damage per energy when removed, and it was only getting worse.

All I have to say is if I were a level 13 enemy and find a backpack holding mouse and we fight and all he does is reach in hold up his ring around 20 times and then reaches for about 10 cleavers I would evaporate just gone just nothing
I had a run in an early update where I used Matthew (Press M at before starting a run for matthew!) give me a potion that gave me a big curse. I won with that curse pre-enemy buff. Matthew gives you a buff to the start of your run from items to more HP.

@@Aliensrock but other cleavers would get used more times than you would normally right. Normally the top queen cleaver gets used once by the right queen. There's a candle relic that gives all weapons minus spikes on hit, and a purple relic that gives weapons +1 damage when used. Those 2 combined with a perfect build could get you to like floor 30.
Hey Tylar, for 38:20, you could use an archer build which doesn't get affected by the spikes, which is also a pretty good strat. However it did recently got nerfed, so you might not get as far in endless mode, but you do get a chance to beat the floor 18 boss.
Hey pro tip for now before it’s patched, when you’re in the wheel spin room you don’t actually have to take what you get, you can just click the map and leave if you say get a curse or item you don’t want
Poggers video, btw its important to check which buffs are multiplied and which arent. Like rage is just adding dmg on top while base dmg increases like gems get multiplied by the +% buffs
A mouse wood + arrow build )with extra things to give bonus energy) is the best way to beat the floor 18 King as far as I know. Since arrows are projectiles, you don't get hit by his spikes. I got there with such a build, with the 4 tall bow that gives +1 dodge whenever you kill an enemy, and he just took too long to summon a minion that he killed me. I needed more max HP (~75 or so max HP I needed) to be able to get by.
Honestly after a certain point the bonus damage from having a ruby in the middle is overshadowed by the other buffs you had, and so you could have put your heartstone in the middle there. I probably would have done that a little before getting the gemstone relic.
I died to the same thing you did, I had a rage, 1 mana cost wand that started the turn doing 37 damage, with 5 magic refilling herbs and the poison book that refills a little mana along with around 40 mana in mana stones. I also had 3 medusa helmets and 3 dodge potions, incase I didn't one turn, and I was just cruising because I had so much extra damage in my consumables, and I was one turning everything, then I died to the spikes of doom. Any build that is not big one hit damage dies to that boss because if the health scaling.
So, is the king just literally unbeatable with cleaver then? I can't see any setup that doesn't self terminate due to spikes. Even if all the gems were replaced with hearts to get as much healing as possible, spikes still scales up too fast to do anything.
Cleansing Flame is the relic which prevents this. -1 spikes and -1 regen with every attack. If you have a heartstone, vampire stone, or some other kind of healing, then your cleaver build will probably go well beyond floor 2. There's also Shield Spirit; if you have a semi-high defense build (i.e. Archangel Armor + Bricks, Hercule Pavise + many shields, etc.) and pair it with a Mirror Shield, you should be able to remove the King's spikes. That being said, his regen will still be a problem, though you can most likely out-DPS him if you have a scaling cleaver build (i.e. Stopwatch, Rage stacking, etc.) Hope this helps!
all you need is the candle relic which makes all your weapons give the enemy -1 spikes, you still take 1 damage per attack but it makes it much more manageable with healing
I see, didn't realize there was such a relic. Kinda annoying that it's essentially a "do you have this *one* item?" check, but at least there is a way.
Spikes are a hard counter to multihit builds in the same manner as Dodge is a hard counter to single hit builds. Imo the base game seems fairly balanced with how both dodge and spikes are spread throughout it.... and then it scales like BTD6 freeplay, where the game tries to make an insurmountable hard wall with em
You should check out this rougelike called Noita if you’re getting back into rougelikes. Super fun, easily one of my top games of all time. Filled to the brim with secrets.
The king said to the mouse in a deep tone, “So you have come to this far, passing every level, every minion I send out and even my trustworthy servants and my leaders of each floors you have cleanse them off in the battlefield with a clean cut of your cooking mastery, and now it has come to this to challenge your destructive skill against my overwhelming power.” “If you succeed, you will be worthy to be the lord of the dungeon and become the new king.” “However, many people had never come this far, because I am the deception of all who have challenged me, so show me your potential young mouse”. The mouse said in an intimidating tone.” I cannot try to kill you without cutting your soul with my vengeful knife without getting closer”. The king laughed and said “Hehe, then come closer than you wish”.
If you can do a similar build that emphasizes healing over damage, you might be able to crack that boss. You'll need defense to survive burst damage in order to heal though.
If you can get your hands on mouse wood plus the small arrows you can get I think three, maybe 4 arrows per shot which builds up to some pretty insane damage really quickly. You will need a 4 slot bow.
Loved watching this run. but I couldn't help being pissed off by how long he kept the manastone bow. Thats 3 mana for 3 inventory slots. Which is so bad when u have unlocked 2/2 or 3/3 mana stones. I guess 3 > 0 though and he wasn't having too many inventory woes.
Stop letting pointless stuff like that piss you off or please stop commenting about it. This nitpicky behavior is contagious, and I will not hesitate to block people that can't control themselves.
the second king is killable. Bows are the only way I've seen it done because bows ignore spikes and if you get mouse wood and stack a ton of energy from foods and berserkers rings you can one turn kill him. Otherwise I don't think it's possible.
The bow was for some reason so infuriating for me xD i mean, it's still just three basic manastones for you. Good you aknowlaged it but I still was irritated for some reason xD And you propably should've put kings cleaver in between three queen cleavers, you would still use rage queen cleaver same amount as before king cleaver but the rest would be better.
OK... Once he spoke to the retiring chef, i was like "imagine if theres something like a king cleaver" and then here we are. what a coincidence Makes sense tho since theres a queen
I’m pretty sure moving the ring of doom to the center and surrounding its three open sides with the queen and king cleavers would have gotten you even more damage.
I've noticed this game punishes certain styles of gameplay, mutihits, AoE, and Healing builds don't scale hard enough to go big. Can't wait to see this game hit version 1.
Not only the nerf but they show up so much less I've seen 1 King and 1 jack cleaver but no queen cleaver at all. I did make it to floor 14 with a weapon only build with a bunch of hatchet and a club.
That was a nice run, I was hoping you find jack cleaver too! You can do absolute magical things with them if you can get two kings, two queens and one jack 🤤🤣🤣👌👍
@@nolmc Doesnt matter, just use the shield relic and start your combo with a shield instead. have it ONLY touch your starter cleaver so that your damage on the rest of your combo doesnt get neutered. Its a little harder to get going because you NEED the shield relic, but its still pretty damn good.
Isn't the staff relic only acting as conductive and wasting 2 spots which could be filled with mana stones, since the relic needs to be adjacent to weapons for the buff?
It also buffs by a percentage, which makes each other manastone more valuable by default. It doesn't need to be adjacent, only connected like how mana is connected. That means all 3 cleavers next to the ring was buffed by it. Not king, though it didn't matter in the end.
you should try a glitch run to see how far you can get (there is a glitch that lets you stack items using heavy/floating items) its super fun doing thousands of damage on floor 25+
1000dmg per energy is peanuts dmg for a cleaver build. Over 37k dmg on the first usage of energy, now that is sauce, currently floor 250 and yet to spend all my 5 energy to kill (this is after the energy nerf to cleavers)
Concidering how high the damage was reaching with the ring/mana, it might have been better to have moved the heart to be in the middle of the four cleavers instead of the ruby, trading some damage for more healing.
I got to floor 18 once, that boss is no joke! It was with a bow build AND I had the candle relic but it was not enough, he just beat me to death 'cause at 15k he's one thicc bih.

That was awesome, way to go Tyler!🤩

Absolutely nuts. All hail the clever strats
Stopwatch, Rage stacking, etc.)
Hope this helps!
all you need is the candle relic which makes all your weapons give the enemy -1 spikes, you still take 1 damage per attack but it makes it much more manageable with healing
It’s doable with a really solid block engine, like the new Hercule Pavise.
5:50 you can right click to sleect "use max times"
sick run! that was the Funniest way to go out! dont let them kill you because you get it done first xD
This game really is just a dopamine factory in rogue-like clothing
"I need that!... I got it!!! " The universe wills it so!
38:00 there is a candle relic that removes spikes with each wepon hit, that would've been handy but unlucky I guess
remeber to always check if an enemy has cowardly!
Wait a moment. The character holding the bag is a rat... Because it's a pack rat. Holy shit, my eyes have been opened.
Your daily reminder that diamonds are conductive
You should check out this rougelike called Noita if you’re getting back into rougelikes. Super fun, easily one of my top games of all time. Filled to the brim with secrets.
I love backpack hero so much I replaced my family with the mouse
Now that's difficulty of "I don't know if it's doable at all" I hoped for!
Just earlier today, I managed to make a Mage build that dealt over 1k damage per turn. It required using 4 energy on a necronomicon though
Can we get a Tyler q&a. That would actually be dope.
If you can do a similar build that emphasizes healing over damage, you might be able to crack that boss. You'll need defense to survive burst damage in order to heal though.
The only way to beat it with cleaver is candle, you can’t heal enough
If you can get your hands on mouse wood plus the small arrows you can get I think three, maybe 4 arrows per shot which builds up to some pretty insane damage really quickly. You will need a 4 slot bow.
When you got the King Cleaver, why not put it in between the Queen cleavers?
imagine being an enemy and the last thing you see is a rat with a massive backpack chucking 15 cleavers at you
read the curses to the end. You can just use them most times if you kill the enemy anyway
Just got into this game, I love it, thanks for showing it to me
Loved watching this run. but I couldn't help being pissed off by how long he kept the manastone bow.
So excited for this!
This game has a lot in common with luck be a landlord in some ways
23:47 "dude deals 2500 damage" me: Wait I thought that was health
the second king is killable. Bows are the only way I've seen it done because bows ignore spikes and if you get mouse wood and stack a ton of energy from foods and berserkers rings you can one turn kill him. Otherwise I don't think it's possible.
just so you know, you are able to speed up animations in the options on the top left
13:57 The event translates to "war/ahead"
this is why you need to have the sacred flame relic
The bow was for some reason so infuriating for me xD i mean, it's still just three basic manastones for you. Good you aknowlaged it but I still was irritated for some reason xD
And you propably should've put kings cleaver in between three queen cleavers, you would still use rage queen cleaver same amount as before king cleaver but the rest would be better.
OK... Once he spoke to the retiring chef, i was like "imagine if theres something like a king cleaver" and then here we are. what a coincidence
Makes sense tho since theres a queen
The binary text at 15:37 says “war”
“I don’t know if I kill with this meal”
Was waiting for your post! I love your videos!
Yep got like 3 in a run before the update.
That was a nice run, I was hoping you find jack cleaver too! You can do absolute magical things with them if you can get two kings, two queens and one jack 🤤🤣🤣👌👍
Man and I thought the pickaxe is good, I’ll definitely have to try out the cleavers next time I play
Im fairly certain they got nerfed
They did
@@nolmc Doesnt matter, just use the shield relic and start your combo with a shield instead. have it ONLY touch your starter cleaver so that your damage on the rest of your combo doesnt get neutered.
Its a little harder to get going because you NEED the shield relic, but its still pretty damn good.

"eyes" said: war
after you click cancel it says: ahead
looks like i didnt have to wait to long for this dumb but op strat
Over 37k dmg on the first usage of energy, now that is sauce, currently floor 250 and yet to spend all my 5 energy to kill (this is after the energy nerf to cleavers)
its goddam 5 am for me thank god it came out
Concidering how high the damage was reaching with the ring/mana, it might have been better to have moved the heart to be in the middle of the four cleavers instead of the ruby, trading some damage for more healing.
Ah yes king the clever ender
_barely taps King_ "A-" _dies_
I got to floor 18 once, that boss is no joke!
It was with a bow build AND I had the candle relic but it was not enough, he just beat me to death 'cause at 15k he's one thicc bih.
fun fact the eyes say:
"war" when coming
"ahead" when going away
I swear I never get lucky. I'm like, "oh I'll go cleavers" then get zero cleavers after the first few
It looks like a StS Shield Slam build is the way to really go endless in this game… assuming there’s something like it in the game. XD
U got to try if u ever get both the coral and the shield that used adjacent shields I was getting up to 400 to 500 spikes and 200 defence . But I messed up and died due to status effects
the king on this build is nothing if you have cleansing flame
that king was brutal
i did a thorn build just now, all enemies EXLODED after some turns, the run ended on a living shadow in act 2-2
Love the videos Tyler
