- Hey guys! I just wanted to share an awesome resource I found that can help you on your college and scholarship application process. Bro, I also got rejected from Columbia for undergrad (also my dream school). Broke my heart. But guess what, I am at Columbia now working on a masters degree. Sometimes things just work out later than expected. Never give up!

@@LilJollyJoker i believe they got rejected for undergrad, but accepted for grad. so they applied again after finishing college and are now there for a masters degree. undergrad and grad admissions are separate

The college admissions process is so random. My dream school was UCLA but I got rejected there, then on Ivy Day I got accepted to Columbia (!?) which I just applied to on a whim. Wish we could trade haha

i was also rejected from my dream school (Harvard) but I did get into another great school (Brown, even tho the aid ain’t great). It’s all just kinda a surreal process but it’ll all work out in the end. You have some great options and good luck!!!

And you’re right - it was a tough admissions year. As an alum of Yale, I interview applicants each year, and we got tons of applications. I earned a degree from Cornell University and a degree from the University of Idaho. I find it annoying how many people make a big deal out of university rankings such that many look down on the University of Idaho and are impressed by Cornell University. Both of the universities I attended had excellent academic programs.

Good luck! I hope that you’ll choose the right one which fits you the most. That’s interesting how college system works in USA because in Russia we have 2 ways: Unified State Exam or winning an olympiad (there are olympiads for each subject of USE). So everything depends on the sum of scores of USE. 100 scores for each subject. Passing score in top unis is usually starts from 298 (total of 3 exams). So you don’t need GPA, extracurriculars and that’s fine but USE is hell… Scholarships are allowed only in 1 uni (MIPT) maybe you heard about it because it’s top 1 technical school in Russia, maybe some more unis but it’s not popular(
Forgot to say that it’s about “budget places” which means that we don’t have to pay)

I recommend The College Counseling Specialist for Admissions/Scholarships. He really can help. His office is in Orange County but maybe he could help with the process online too if you live somewhere else.

I got a 1530 and 5.1 on weighted 6.0 scale. kinda regret not applying to ivys I didn’t think I had a chance. but I don’t think I would’ve gone in the end because they cost so much and two years of dual enrollment credit wouldn’t transfer
