Nice video! Not everyone gets into their dream schools, not all dreams are realized at the first attempt. But it doesn't mean you will not realize them in the future. There are so many opportunities ahead as a freshman. Find your interests and talents, the earlier you start, the better achievements you will have! Wish you lots of success in a new journey!
Congrats! I was thinking the UF rejection was because you were a little overqualified for the school, I don’t see another reason why they would have rejected with a 1580 SAT and amazing ECs like you have… anyways, good luck and you will do great wherever you go!
Yeah, it’s something called “Yield Protection” where middle-tier universities reject overqualified students because they assume the student in question will get into higher level universities. A lot of articles online if you want to check it out.

have you read into the recent lawsuits of affirmative actions? Harvard and the elite schools aren't very friendly to asian applicants but keep your head up, you did great!
yeah, i've certainly considered that, but by now i can say that i was probably better off going to Texas A&M than any of these elite schools, as the financial burden is significantly lower, and the wealth of opportunity & quality of education here is probably just as good as the big-name schools, especially for our engineering department, which consistently ranks in the top 15 (not that rankings are everything)

Well, it is what it is. Maybe being a male asian did hurt my chances, but at this point, it doesn't really matter that much - in the end, I'm still going to a great school where I am just as able to succeed as if I went to one of the ivies/elite schools.
