I just ordered mine (same colour as in the video- but a 2025 in Canada, so option packages are slightly different than last year). Very much looking forward to making it my daily driver (currently a 2021 Prius Prime, which has been thoroughly reliable for nearly 135000km/84,000 miles and will become the shared car for my son and daughter). Figured it was time to add back some fun into my driving life (previously have had an '83 RX-7, '83 Celica GT, 2000 Miata, still borrow my wife's 2017 GTI). After a 16 year run of two Pathfinders and an Xterra, plus the Prius, I think I deserve something sport-ish. And my fun will be a lot cheaper to fuel with 8 cents a kWh vs 6.50$/gallon (about 1.60$/litre) up here in Quebec.
Thanks for watching. That is a great list of cars you have owned. Enjoy your Polestar. Very cool car and a lot of fun to drive. Did you do RWD or dual motor? We just spent time with the dual motor all wheel drive and while it is wicked quick the rear wheel drive is equally fun and range is good. The hatch is very useful and build quality is top notch. That dual motor review will be out in late October. It had the leather which was very nice. Here in the US it is not eligible for tax credits so most folks lease. Not sure how that works in Canada. Keep in touch on how you like it after you get it. Congrats and happy (electric) motoring!
Not only is the Polestar 2 fun to drive for an EV, its fun to drive for a car! Quirky with personality, the long range has plenty of power, a great rear wheel drive setup, and decent range. Only the price and the geopolitics of EVs gives us pause.
That why I have leased it for 3 years. I have had it now for 2 month and it is the best EV I have driven untill now. It is fun and also better than my Petrol cars that I had before
Great point. Thanks for watching. I think I mention depreciation at the end of the video. And these 2024 with the rear wheel drive will make a great buy in a year or so. Thanks again.
Nice review. I'm in California leasing a '24 now. Coming from a Volvo C30, I do feel the weight of the car as it goes over bumps-- not bad but less nimble than the C30. I don't have long legs, so the driving position is good for me. The minimal storage in the cabin is not good, but I bought a Volvo sunglass holder (it replaces the assist handle above the driver's door) and that solved some of the problem. Controlling the motor speed is amazing-- from a snail crawl to zooming is so easy with one pedal. I also miss the ability to plug in a flash drive for music (no CD player either) and the Android Automotive OS (it's different from Android phone OS) has very few apps available. Radio Paradise is available, but my other favorite station apps are not. I worked around that by installing the Vivaldi web browser. Now I can get BBC radio but it requires more fiddling to work.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience. Sounds like some good hacks on interior storage . I was not too aware of the lack of apps for android auto. I guess it has some main ones and for CarPlay people they can wire up. Have fun with your 2. It’s a fun ride. Thanks again and happy electric motoring.
Great video man, but I noticed that nobody ever talks about the sound system. Polestar claims that the upgrade system is great and that the car features many speakers. Could you maybe talk about that on a separate video?
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. I mention the stereo somewhere around the 22 min mark but I did not get a chance to really play with it. Polestar loaned me this car and I was on a tight schedule. What I do know is that it is a 13 speaker system with plenty of volume and clarity and was decent. Polestar is unique in that they give you a multi-frequency equalizer and I am sure if I had played with that I would have got it sounding pretty good. Not sure when I will be back in a Polestar to really dive in. If you have a showroom nearby I am sure they will let you listen to your hearts content. The Polestar is well sound insulated so that also will contribute to a good experience. Daily Motor did a stereo review about three years ago. Sure it has not changed since. Thanks for watching. Tesla Model 3 RWD will undercut this quite a bit on price and even a model 3 performance is cheaper. It’s a shame these Polestar 2s are so expensive but there are very aggressive lease deals right not that undercut Tesla. And the Polestar comes with a real turn signal stalk and shifter. All the best and happy motoring.
Of course. Thanks for watching. The setting just determines if you engage the regenerative braking or the car does it for you. I personally like a little less of the one pedal driving feel.
I really don't see the point of automatic lane keeping, if you have to grab the wheel every 15 seconds anyway. It's not exactly difficult to steer a car. It's a gimmick which currently is more confusing than helpful. One day the technology will be sufficient to safely automate driving, especially on the freeway/motorway, but only when every vehicle gets it,.
Agreed. I will demo the feature but have never used it. On a long drive with fairly straight roads it can be helpful if you are fiddling with a snack or drink. Thanks for watching!
I love how the cabin is not what all the space is used for so it has an actually useful boot.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Agreed the boot space is very well done. All the best.

@@michaelcolind5082 thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Enjoy your Polestar 2 and happy (EV) motoring!
Great car that I’ve had for about 26 months.
At close to 50% depreciation within the first few years. these are a great find on the used market for anyone wanting to commit long term to an EV.

@@BeyondTheTestDrive Thanks so much man, that answers my question! cheers!!
Sadly they aren't really priced well. Might as well just get a Tesla Model 3 2024 instead for a couple more bucks

You are still not using the brakes more when you are having it on low. It's the regen for the first part of the brake, no matter what mode you have.
