I have an old Jandy pump, not as easy as the others to replace, this video saved me a lot of aggravation as I was about to strip the reverse threaded screw. Thank you!
As answered below, be sure to select the correct voltage on the new motor. If using one breaker its 120, but if you use the double (2) breakers it is 230. Then dont forget your other seals as well baseplate and diffuser seals. But good video.
The seal between the pump and motor is going to be the mechanical seal that is around the motor shaft. I would start with inspecting or replacing that.
Ever had where you've replaced the pump, wired it, restored power to it and it didn't turn on after flipping the switch? Getting power, the pump just isn't turning on.
Do you mean the old motor with a variable speed? It won’t break anything but depending on the speed that it runs it may make the pump inefficient depending on where it falls on the pump curve

I have replaced the motor exactly as instructed and got an electrician to wire it back up. Whenever I turn it on, it makes a funny clicking noise and does not run. Any ideas?
Assuming that the impeller spins freely (it should). Have your electrician verify that the motor is switched to the correct voltage. Many of these motors can be used with 120V or 230V and your application will depend on what voltage you use.
The seasl manufacturer and suppliers all say never touch the white ceramic portion of the bearing or you will have premature degredation and failure. Skin oils breakdown the costing over time and use. You should be wearing gloves at this part of the process.

What do you do if there is a leak from the motor where it connects to the housing ?

Some new motors have a selectable voltage switch where the motor is wired up. Make sure your correct voltage is selected.
How do I access the impeller itself? I’m trying to clean it out.
The first 3 mins should get you down to the impeller to where you can do anything needed on it
Can I replace the old one (same one as in the video) with a new variable speed one?

What seal did you use?
