We have basically taken on all the trades while building this house and some have been easier than others, some have been fast and some have taken a long time... like drywall haha
Tile has been one of the things that i've been worried about and to be honest the tile work that i laid down didn't look too bad, I was happy with it. Then I made a crucial mistake when grouting and I think it ruined our bathroom...

Epoxy is a nightmare, my hubby is a tile setter. USE ACETONE TO REMOVE THE HAZE.
Gently rub the areas where epoxy needs to be removed with a clean, soft cloth dampened with an epoxy solvent, such as acetone. Keep the acetone in contact with the area to loosen the epoxy. Use enough acetone to soak into the surface a bit

I honestly am so scared of epoxy, which I shouldn't be, since I'm about to start a epoxy project, but using it in a grout after knowing what I've learned, would never happen. I feel so bad for you, that stuff is forever. I'm so happy you've found a way to make it better. Praying my project goes as planned, or I'll be redoing it.

You’re supposed to wipe immediately for epoxy grout. Your technique was for regular grout where you can leave overnight and then wipe off with a wet sponge. Even then, leaving overnight isn’t a good idea. I guess it’s best to just move on. Leave it and deal with the tile later. On the bright side, it’ll never leak.

I agree with everyone on here. The tile doesn't look bad. There is some tile that has that haze look to it on purpose. You will get this! I'd say leave the tile for now and move on to another project. Getting the haze off isn't necessary for a certificate of occupancy.

It's coming along so amazingly and you are doing it for the most part as a two man team. That takes a HUGE amount of courage and strength to do. Please do not despair or get discouraged about a mistake in the bathroom on tile. In comparison of everything you have accomplished the tile in the bathroom is such a minor detail and it can be fixed in time. You are an amazing inspiration to so many. It's okay to make a mistake. Trent, Try to remember that any project that functions is Not ruined. Keep the goal of getting in the house ASA, everything else is just for later. I designed a walk in shower, for my aging in cottage! After the plumbing was buried in concrete, the contractor started saying it was impossible to not have a shower pan. I didn't want one and she never spelled out the problem, [as an RN knew
handicap showers were possible] seemed to blame the installed pebble like floor. It's not right [poor communication on my part as I was across the country] but I got around it with the shower curtain brought in on the sides [duck tape] and aiming the shower toward the inside wall. Perfection is not in my vocabulary at 80! Never sweat the small stuff!

Trent, ever seen the movie "Moonstruck". What is Cher's famous line from that movie? "GET OVER IT". I just wanna smash your little cheeks between my hands and say "get over it". You haven't ruined anything. You are just learning how to do things. Having to make corrections is the way we learn. Your obsession with perfection is going to put you in an early grave. Please stop. Step away for a few moments and take a few deep breaths and appreciate all of the beauty you have surrounding you, including that gorgeous pregnant wife you have.
Y'all need to take a little break and appreciate all of these gifts you are getting each day. It has been like Christmas everyday for a while with all your new goodies you are installing.
Now is the time to have faith and know all is in divine timing. If little man shows up early, not a big deal. He is born of van life parents and wants to live in an RV for a while. A house is a foreign concept to the little guys DNA.
Sometimes the Universe allows curveballs to be thrown to slow us down. Slowing down is a natural progression with finish work. Those details need your special attention. Take the time so you remember and appreciate all of your success. Celebrate the success, take your cues to slow down so that all continues to go well. Snow is showing up so be cautious and take your time when driving and running up and down those steps. We want everyone healthy when the new arrival gets here.
We love you, appreciate you and behold all of the talents that you possess. Be good to yourself, kind to each other and enjoy your journey. I know drama helps the channel, but it hurts my heart to see you so critical. Show me a little love Trent, a few more hugs to Ally and some of your world famous dance moves. I can't believe we did not get one pole dance from you when the scaffolding was still up...lol
Love you all three and pets to the puppies 🐾. ✌️😊

I love watching your videos. Watching the 2 of you interact with each other, smiles & laughs make my day. My husband was a builder & one of the best in Western North Carolina. Not my words but others who watched & saw his work. I've seen more than a thousand houses plus & watched how they went together. Trent you are doing a great job for an amateur carpenter/plumper/tile installer & more. It takes an intelligent mind to figure out all the angles & measurements in building a house. Some of the guys my husband hired, that said they were a carpenters helpers or said they had experience in this field, couldn't even measure. 😳 My husband passed away last year, but would have loved watching your videos, as I do. There's a lot of little tricks to covering up mistakes. Like the wood glue on your window trim, in your sun room. Don't worry about the tile in your bathroom, something will take it off. When you work long, hard days, without a day off, it's easier to make mistakes. My husband use to work from daylight 'til dark, 10-12 hr days, 7 days a week. As he got older, he said it wasn't worth working those extra hrs. He realized 8-9 hrs was enough & would always take Sundays off. In his 50's he decided to take both Sat & Sun off. It revives your body to get through the next week. It also makes for a better work day, with a lot less mistakes. And gives you a chance to relax & enjoy life too. He loved his work & was a happy man when he was working. He could do about anything with wood. He wore many hats, but didn't like working with electricity. Although he would put up ceiling fan & lights. You are doing great & your house is really coming together nicely. I wish you both well. I will continue to watch your videos, you make me smile. 😀

I’m still not convinced they did the right thing, the centre island in my opinion is just too wide. It’s such a tiny thing they could have changed, if it’s not their forever home, it might be a concern considering the space in the rest of the kitchen. Maybe it’s camera angles, but even as one of their fire exits, could it be obstructed by a bar stool? 🧐 interested in seeing the final outcome.
