- 2021 was a fresh year for me, entering the Marvel Investing space for the first time. Coming from TCG and Sports, there were plenty of learnings and in this video, I'm gonna share my thoughts on what make this genre different from others.

Great analysis and breakdown. As always great video!
Thanks dude!
Really have enjoyed your content. Great stuff!!! When it comes to marvel and what you’ve done with universe 1, I think we could do with a lot of sets.
Great reflection on your journey so far.
i feel like sports is split into 2, Hall of Fame guys and then current performance, Comics is nastalgia/long term investings, and Wrestling ( i do the most ) is a mix of both. The Nastalgia of wrestling but also the current popularity of wrestlers on television. Not to mention, Comics and Wrestling are all year round, which helps with selling. Sports is much more complicated i think
I’m getting into marvel & DC sketch cards recently, I’ve only collected basketball mostly. It’s been lots of fun so far!
Awesome stuff. The FUN part is what its all about.
@@CardBossArchives hey I was hoping you could answer a question for me. Are “artist proof” more valuable?
@@pugshugs2870 Similar to sketches, they are essentially personalized artwork. It caters for an extremely niche market. Doesnt make them less valuable, just alot less liquid compared to mass produced cards.
@@CardBossArchives thanks for the reply!
2017 fleer ultra spiderman is the holy grail of sets period check it out for yourself. Rainbow foil parallels, gold purple and green metal parallels, and the coveted royal foil.
U said it brother❕😵📢💯
Great video!!!
Thanks!
Awesome video! Other than the mainstays…what are some other characters to invest in? Thanks…and keep them coming!
Beauty about Marvel is, there is so many more characters beyond the top five I mentioned - Venom, Carnage, Hulk, Thor, Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer.....
Pretty women who are also popular. There are collectors who horde these characters if the illustration is nice. Focus more on rare stuff with these.
Psylocke, white queen/emma frost, jean grey/Phoenix, X-23/wolverine, magik, spider gwen.
Sometimes scarlet witch, mystique, electra.
Spider gwen is the safest bet, but x-23 and psylocke are not far off.
Saweet content thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the support!
The Toy Biz sets are going to be big money once people figure it out...
Interesting.... I'll have a look at it myself.
Love the content, just got into marvel cards from Sportscards, bought a Thor and Hulk 2013 pmg red. Would love to get into other more desirable sets. But not sure how long the growth will sustain and it may not bleed into other sets when the boom is over.
Welcome welcome. I haven't been in Marvel for that long either (I consider 12 months still short) and as I pointed out numerous times that PMGs are the naturally transition gateway for sports guys entering the space. From there, you will know to find your investing niche whether its Vibranium, Royal Foil etc.
@@CardBossArchives doing tons of reading on blowout at the moment.
@@cly2830301 Its a good place to start!
The demand won't be ending for certain sets. The super rare things have always been expensive and are really difficult to find now. These values haven't taken off because PMGs are more commom. There are some extremely wealthy marvel collectors that gobble up the good stuff at launch to never be seen again.
Great perspective. Well done
Thanks for the comment!
Where do I buy marvel or dc cards? Can I only buy older boxes or do they still make cards?
Most sealed product are available on Dave & Adams or blowoutcards. You won't find everything, but they have most what is still in circulation included older 90s boxes which is still relatively cheap at less than $150 a box.
@@CardBossArchives thanks again I appreciate. Just out of curiosity, what company sells this stuff sealed year to year? I went on Upperdeck, Topps, and Panini and there is nothing in there shops regarding Marvel. Does that mean Marvel trading cards are only released every so often?
great video card boss.
Thanks for the comment!
@@CardBossArchives Waiting for Part 2!!!! lol. Thanks for the vids.
Will 2013 and 2015 Jambalayas take off? It should but you cant find them anywhere LOL
Think I know one or two people who is hoarding. Wonder who hahahaha
I think those Jambalayas gems are being stacked away somewhere 🤔
@@kevin.st.jacque wonder who haha
@@CardBossArchives must be a whale haha
These were the hottest inserts when these sets were released. This is espicially true for 2013. 2015 actually didnt sell well and you could get discounted boxes a year later for $100. Lol.
There are deep pockets in the marvel world. You won't find the rarest stuff because those people typically don't sell what they like.
they printed so much early marvel that i personally find graded marvel card collecting confusing; especially PSA 10 collecting. is the premium really justified for cards that were never played with and that you can still find in sealed cases? compared to early mtg like alpha where the pop was much lower and the cards went through organic attrition. just feels like you would be paying a premium to really collect PSA 10 labels.
It depends. If you are referring to PSA10 for 1990 MU or 96 Marvel Masterpieces, these are hard to grade even right out from the pack. Centering issues are a problem for 90 MU and even with a sealed box containing hundreds of cards, you would only find maybe a dozen with good centering. With 96 MM there is issues of edges and cutting etc even right out of the pack. And these alone in PSA 10 command huge premiums. You should know that pack fresh cards does not equate to PSA 10, and the level of difficulty on these two sets specifically is much greater.
@@CardBossArchives true true. i just figure the scarcity of even finding packs with vintage mtg compared to MM isn't even comparable.
Dope vid
Great video, I am new to the marvel card world. I have been debating buying an opened case of 2016 marvel masterpieces from a friend. Roughly 40 sketch cards parallels ect. Do you think that might be a decent investment for mid to long term?
Thanks for the comment! I did a cover on Marvel sketches in one of my earlier videos. My only concerns with 1/1 sketches is that art (sketches) are completely subjective. The 1/1 uniqueness doesn't equate to investment potential and you need to focus more on eye appeal and the artist.
If the price is right, yes buy. This set is arguably the greatest modern set made to date. Demand will continue for years similar to 96 Marvel Masterpieces. Some of the values for common cards have seen upticks such as some tier 3 base cards. Sketches have also increased in value accross the board. $5-$10 sketches are now $20-$40 but it is risky to list the bad sketches via auction.
Look for Jusko autos (not to gold sig parallel), but actual autos. These are extremely rare and extremely desirable and largely impossible to comp for major characters. Some of these could be worth more than some PMGs. Do not grade these autos as the people buying these have unique was of storing or displaying these cards.
Anything ultimate spiderman is worth bank now for some odd reason too.
Also look for a known error in base cards. Some base cards were printed with the legendary orange back but are numbered accurately based on tier. Should get a little more value from those.
It seems like Battle Spectra Gems are taking over as the hottest cards in Marvel? Or is it still PMG's?
I think its a product of people getting priced out of PMG and moving towards for "affordable" cards. Battle Gems have the benefit of being serial numbered, and optically close to PMGs. Having the name "Gems" help too.
Yup. Get one in hand and you'll know why. These are basically a PMG with only the G with a unique color.
@@gambitc1043 Battle gems = fools gold lol
Not necessarily. These are the first gems where the art wasnt randomly pulled from comics; are the only PMG-like card in 16 MM; and is in the 16 MM set.
These have staying power and will always be in demand.
@@gambitc1043 What i mean by fools gold is that masterpieces copied gems and wanted to mimic the same concept of the original pmg. Original or did masterpieces "copied" what a PMG was. :P
subscribed just because i love your voice
Lol thanks!
Captivating
