That being said, i find it disheartening how in current culture, there was a legitimate possibility that Fallon would have had a 10 year long career ruined because he misworded a sentence.
If "Cancel Culture" didn't exist he would have reacted the same way. Late night talk shows are so manicured and lightweight, the idea that he may have insulted a guest just put him out of his element.
Hopefully it's moments like this that will shed enough light on how ridiculous this cancel culture really is. Without the slightest animosity, you can still fear for your career over one sentence of innocent intent.

Jose Gonzalez cancel culture doesn’t do anything to anyone’s career. All it does is attract negative comments about someone on social media. If you’re like Scarlett Johansson and don’t have any social media, then getting cancelled does absolutely nothing.
The comments claiming that cancel culture doesn't exist is quite ridiculous. It eventually boils down to whether these "cancellations" have a long lasting impact. Which is irrelevant because what's being argued is that the mere idea of having an angry mob of people demanding that you get fired and humiliated is terrible enough on its own, regardless of how long it lasts. Although in many cases it does have long lasting effects especially when it comes to Harvard applications and simple jobs for the people who aren't celebrities yet still face backlash in a modern day Salem witch trial.

Like it’s okay (nay, cheeky) that this guy should’ve worried about his career ending over this.
Anusha K today’s “cancel culture” is extremely toxic yet popular. If a comment can come off as homophobic or racist or anything of that sort it could ruin someone’s career/life/social status because everyone starts to hate that person and stops engaging w them. So he would lose fans and viewers, make less money, get less sponsorships, lose contact with big celebrities, etc.
Not true, he actually got in trouble in school according to an interview he did on a podcast, for "being too happy". And from what I've heard he's just a genuinely nice person, it's not an act. Also he's shown real negative emotion over a few celebrities that died like Robin Williams, and when his mom died, and the Orlando shooting, all of which I recommend, they show his more serious side.
This has the same energy as when you say a bad word in elementary school and a kid raises their hand, you think it’s all over, and then they ask the teacher to go to the bathroom

I love all people, but damn, it’s getting to a wild point.
Cancel culture can only affect people who don't have much power to begin with in w/e industry they are working in. Harvey Weinstein, Woody Allen, and Roman Polanski are all shining examples that show that "cancel culture" doesn't have much power to really, truly effect any of these people's careers. The guy in my profile picture was a victim of "cancel culture" before we even coined the phenomenon, even though he had substantial power. Still, to this day many people believe he was a pedophile because of his eccentricites, falsified "evidence" and grifters, his accusers were all white, and the fact that he was a Black man made it easier to sway public opinion that he could be guilty of his crimes. Cancel culture takes into account race, gender, class, & all power dynamics before it actually punishes the people who can be actually punished. The status quo runs everything. Anyone who actually gets "cancelled", gets cancelled bc the powers that be wants it that way. It's almost like the electoral college having the actual power to elect the sitting president and voting being used as a tool to delude the masses into thinking voting can actually change the system (of Capitalism/white supremacy) in place in order to keep the social revolution from happening that would begin Real structural change. The scariest part is that he didn’t even make a mistake, and because of a joke that another celebrity wanted to say, his entire career could have been destroyed.
Yeah he didn't make any mistake. He's adorable unlike that fool Kimmel

solomon not all mentally disabled are dumb😦
@@mooonblind ....i would argue that none of them are but then again maybe solomon should be canceled

That's the sad reality of cancel culture. It's like you're always walking on thin ice

Jimmy has that childlike quality. That's why he is so great. Joan was right.
Joan Rivers? ❤
Yes joan was right about a lot of things tbh
I think so too ❤
Nah he sucks
I don't see the charm
The best thing ever and that he reacted to it makes it 10 times better
*we could see Jimmy's soul leaving his body and coming back with blink of an eye*
That fact that one small mistake like that could potentially ruin your life in todays world is absolutely ridiculous
I don't think it actually could, people are still going to enjoy the performers that they like and not pay attention to ridiculous gossip. Some people have been trying to cancel Jimmy for years because they think he has a fake laugh which he doesn't. But he's doing okay.
Heck, I was worried too...
The show isn’t live. There would have been a way to salvage it and restart the segment or scrap it during taping.

2020: you can’t make an honest mistake.
GrungyAssCinema this clip shows us you can
Conman 1u fair - but it’s a slippery slope.
I mean you can, you can block the hallways and masterbate at someone and still have you career back if you make people enough money like Louis CK, Fallon would be just about intact even if Ru Paul was offended.
GrungyAssCinema LMAO
But it wasn't even a mistake tho...
Even though i am not a fan of him, i like how he responded to the internet's reaction and admitted he was a little scared.
One of the rare instances that his guest said something and he didn't laugh his head off.
Hopefully it's moments like this that will shed enough light on how ridiculous this cancel culture really is. Without the slightest animosity, you can still fear for your career over one sentence of innocent intent.
Cancel culture is fucking stupid, but a little thing like this still wouldn't really affect someone's career outside of the internet.
@@Lotselance yeah, internet are jungle for fame and anything like comedy. The best guilty pleasure of Human History indeed.
DI Gumtree It absolutely would my dude. If RuPaul honestly got angry and outraged, NBC would definitely be talking to Jimmy behind the scenes. It may not result in him being fired, but he would definitely be affected by it.

people go way too far into hating on Jimmy. considering he always laughed during his SNL days, i don’t think he fakes it like people say he does
Lol I’m glad he addressed this, I was so curious to hear his thoughts about it going viral
Cancel culture needs to be canceled or at least have the people learn what actually needs to be canceled
@Do Do thats because stupid cancel culture attack the wrong people
Jose Gonzalez cancel culture doesn’t do anything to anyone’s career.
@@armancole2781 thats the thing the negative comments towards someone can mess them up mentally and if its on a greater level of negative then people start to change their point of view on someone and begin to hate them

Deer in the headlights time, Jimbo
The fear that ran through his body is so terrifying to watch. Even more so when the clip is treated as humorous in the vein of a sort of “haha yeah we’d all feel that way in my situation huh.” How tf have we so severely normalized icy cold terror for the simplest of mistakes. Like it’s okay (nay, cheeky) that this guy should’ve worried about his career ending over this.
yall take everything so seriously
It's unfortunate that he felt that way and has to walk on eggshells, true but I don't think his career would have ended.
Its almost 4 years and still make me laugh like if it was the first day
Awwww I felt so sorry for Jimmy.I wanted to hug him so bad.Poor man.He was like😳😳😳

Jimmy's reaction immediately reminded me of the one Mike Myers had when Kanye West said George Bush does not like black people...it was identical....😂
Oh my god. you're right. 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stand corrected, he said George Bush doesn't care about black people....☺
Omg 😂😂😂😂😂
Speaking of Mike Myers. RuPaul reminds of that line from the Mike Myers movie Austin Powers. ''That ain't no woman. It's man, man."
Now that’s self-awareness out of 10
I actually really like how he reacted, it shows he was genuinely worried he got someone’s identity wrong
Thats great that he addressed this! What a great guy. Subscribed just for this reaction
lol...and to think how bland-fully careful he's been for all these years not to offend anyone or anything.
All this years of hard work and everything he’s been through and you saw he’s face it’s like he said no to Stalin

@@anusha4505 ask Rosanne. Or countless others.
Anusha K have you seen 2019?! Too easily It seems.
I don't think RuPaul is that kind of person. He seems super lighthearted, he always talks about not taking stuff seriously.
Jojo S we are now calling it toxic to call out and not want to associate with people who are racist and homophobic. What a time
Love him for doing this
That had to be the most real emotion Jimmy has ever shown in his entire Late Night Talk show career.
Poor Jimmy, Ru had him ready to book his own grave. He was so scared.
You can see the very moment his heart dropped to his stomach and his sphincter puckered... Hilarious!

Its really ridiculous that Jimmy was that worried.
This isnt funny at all.
It is funny, maybe you're the snowflake?
The fuck, he wasn't worried after the joke
I agree with you ASE, it's absurd that an innocent comment with no bad intent whatsoever could be a possible cause for a man losing his career. Watching this clip got me genuinely upset with the ridiculous pretensiousness of this "Cancel culture".
@@DTO-rq2gv cancel culture is so overexaggerated. Worst case scenario, he would apologize, people would talk about it for a few days then forget about it, thats it. But heres the thing, RuPaul was just joking and most people thought it was funny except for those that like to create fake scenarios about cancel culture and all that.
@@Labyriiint I beg to differ, RuPaul honestly didn't seem to be joking to me, appeared to be more of a defensive slur. He could have easily escalated the situation and brought the case to executives if he really wanted. We've seen a similar insignificant comment be brought to unnecessary attention before, when Vernon Unsworth had sued Elon Musk for defamation over his "pedo guy" comment. Such a comment seems childish and negligible, but was developed into an actual issue. Yes I am aware, this is not an example of cancel culture, but it is an example of escalation from a negligible comment.

Exactly lol
It's stupid and it loses elections.
It's absolutely ridiculous how bad political correctness is now. Were all shooting ourselves in the foot.
Lovely!
