In Jan. 2020 I broke my ribs on the left side via a motocross crash. I didn't think much of it. 2 weeks later I started to have shortness of breath. After an X-Ray at a walk in clinic showed a total white out I was in the hospital fast via ambulance. A pleural effusion was advanced and I lost half of my left lung. Do not take broken ribs lightly. The surgeon lied to me and said he only took out 10% of my lung, a cat scan showed 50% after I was discharged. Do not take broken ribs lightly. I had one liter of fluid taken out but it still needed to be removed.
I’ve got it now for like 3 weeks , I’ve had a blood test and a X-ray it all came back normal, all the doctors said is to have rest and Prescribe me some painkillers and anti inflammatory tablets , still in with my chest and back and my stomach now
I woke up with a sharp pain on my right arm rn it’s okay but when I breath really hard it hurts under my right shoulder, I hope this goes away soon because I have a test coming up.
Informative, I have this problem my specialist doctor prescribed me 4 kinds of medicine, I'm taking up my medicine for 2 days now i feel better, after 7days i go back my doctor for follow up check up and to have a new xray. If there is no progress of fluid, there's no doubt my doctor will advise for confinement at the hospital and need to have a tube to my lungs. I'm praying that the medicine will help me to reduce the fluid. Coz I am afraid to go to the hospital at this pandemic. 😇🙏
I just came from the hospital of this. I was thinking it was a heart attack. They took a cat scan, x-rays and so forth but they ruled it out to pleurisy
Doc said this was my issue , my symptoms were pain in left side of my chest shortness of breath and left arm going numb sometimes burning was almost sure it was heart attack symptoms
Not always..... I had a Liter of Pleural Effusion drained from my lung that had built up over 3 months--- and never once did I cough during those 3 months.... Just a really constricted feeling when breathing, shortness of breath often, and an inability to lay flat without feeling pain radiating into my shoulders
Plural fluid results are a key part of the clinical assessment, but all results must be interpreted in the context of the patient in front of you, to allow for accurate diagnosis and management, why?
6:35 Yes you have VAN (vein artery nerve) under each rib, but you also have NAV *ABOVE* each rib too... Which is why we're told to intubate etc straight in the middle of the intercostal space. @MedCram can you please clarify?
There is no (significant) Vasculature bundle above a rib. Thus you most likely puncture a nerve if you go in the middle. The right position is above the rib as he explained
I had pleurisy 50 years ago in college, never had it again, but now my mother lives with me and I'm thinking she has this...she had a chest x-ray on Monday,. It was fine....
I just had this surgery done on me almost 3-4 weeks ago they vacuum for 3-5 days straight till it was all out.. Las week x rays reveal that I'm still accumulating fluid.. And thoughts as to why this is still happening?!..
I am experiencing the EXACT symptoms. 3 separate draining procedures totaling 2 Litres of fluid accumulation. As of Today, Doctors are "Mystified'..and baffled as to why the fluid continues to accumulate. Would be open to a dialog..
Idk if I have this or not, but I’m experiencing a pain in my lower left lung and I can’t sleep on that side. I know it’s my lung because I can’t inhale all the way, if I do then I get this wired pain. Please let me know if you have experience whether or not o should visit the doctor or the hospital
Hi Doc, I'm from Asia. May I ask your help please? I have loculated fluid collection in segmen 10 lung based on CT Scan result, i met general doctor, instead of Lung Doctor. I have covid 19 now and its hard to see Specialist doctor due of the protocol. I'm so sad and confused due I've read my CT scan result that there is a loculated fluid collection in segmen 10 of my lung, is it because of Covid 19 or something else? I don't have GGO. My lung clear from GGO. But there is a loculated fluid in segmen 10 and i wonder what is this? Is it because of Covid? And what should i do? Whether this fluid needs surgery? My saturation Oxygen is 98 percentage. But I have heavy cough now with sputum now, i'm using levofloxacin after azithromycin didnt work to reduce my sputum cough. I know i should meet Doctor but at least if you can help to explain it would means a lot to me. Since I can't easy to meet Specialist doctor due i still have Covid. Thank you in advance
What would be the main identifying symptoms that would differentiate pneumothorax and effusion? Both can have deviated trachea and chest pain. Would you hear rails or rhonchi with effusion?

Is it normal I've been feeling the pain for 4 days now on my Left side but I'm only 15 years old?
should I consult a doctor?
MedCram, this is a great explanation of pleural effusion. Your video has inspired me to put some videos on pleural effusion on my UA-cam channel.
What if the Pleural effusion is on both lungs? Which side will the trachea be pushed then?
Where is the next video continuation? Link please
What are the treatments
you're the man

Evidently you have to compliment Med cram to get a response.
Don’t forget a severe persistent cough in terms of symptoms.
