This was very informative, and explained how my father died. I wanted to understand the processes by which my father went from talking one day, to need dual chest tubes, and then a few days later he passed. It make much more sense given his cardiac disease, but I wanted to know the processes involved in his decline. As morbid as it sounds-you helped me find a little peace.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My mom just got diagnosed with it, this video does indeed help clarify details a lot. Hope you’re keeping safe amidst the pandemic.
Great video!! I just had pleural effusion on 2-06-23 I had severe Covid which caused me to get a bacterial pneumonia in my left lung and the doctors said that caused the pleural effusion I had no idea how sick I was until I went to the ER and then was admitted to the hospital for 7 days. The doctors had to hit me with heavy antibiotics which put the pneumonia in check and then I had a Thoracentesis which they drained 750ml of fluid then two days later I had 3 chest tubes inserted which drained another 1800ml the doctor also injected blood thinners into my chest tubes to help break up the fluid and that was extremely painful but saved my life. The doctors told me that at the time I came to the ER I was 24 -36 hours away from dying because the fluid was getting ready to leak into my other organs which would’ve caused sepsis. Thank you for this video because I was trying to truly understand what exactly happened to me and this video explained it so I could understand it and the pictures help even more
your videos are great it gives a summary of the disease . i wish you do a full list of pulmonary diseases like this video so that we can depend on it as a revision source before exams
My mum had been diagnosed with PE I her right lung. She needs to do further tests. Thank God all her basis statistics are normal except of a 150/80 blood pressure. Please 🙏 she gets examination then treatment soon.
Thanks bro,, an extra point to add that you missed on 03:35 One thing you missed the transudation of fluid from the pulmonary capillaries in case of left vetricular heart failure which causes interstial pulmonary edema that transudte into the space.
Can anyone answer a question of mine- Why does inflammation here, not involve neutrophilic infiltration? Neutrophilic infiltration is one of the hallmarks of acute inflammation, and yet effusions have little to no neutrophils. ( Effusions can be caused by inflammation)
10th of March this year i had symptoms of difficult in breathing together with severe sharp pains around my lungs regions. I took chest xray and it showed i had pleural effusion more on my right lung. Doctors gave me antibiotics (AZUMA-Azithromycine) in which i took them for five days i started to feel well... and then I had my heart, kidney and liver examined and the results were just fine. So doctors thought my pleural effusion might have been caused by pneumonia so they gave me Ceftriaxone. 9th of April i took xray it showed very small amount of pleural effusion on my right lung. At this point I was recovering. Then May 1st i started experiencing the same symptoms as of march, chest pains and heaviness, difficult in breathing, pains at my back.. All of it indicating pleural effusion. So 6th of may this year the doctors started me the Anti-TB drugs, in which i am using them to this day more than a month and a week but my condition is still getting worse. Need your help/advice
What are the diagnostic biomarkers associated with pleural fluid led disorders? Plural fluid results are a key part of the clinical assessment, but all results must be interpreted in the context of the patient in front of you, to allow for accurate diagnosis and management, why?
Sir…..in case of liver cirrhosis …..due to decrease in aldosterone metabolism ……..there may be increase in pleural fluid……..and even decrease in protein also plays a role ……right sir ?
Is there a substantial risk of sepsis in cases of pulmonary contusion from traumas compared to infiltrative pleural effusions? Is cigarette smoking attributed to most cases of atelectasis? I wonder what strategies can best prevent a traumatic chest tube installation.
I was diagnosed with pleural effusion and was given antibiotics, was later discharged. But I still feel pain in my chest and increased body temperature. Don't really know what to do.
@camshaft hope your mum is better now? I'm better now, about 6 to 7 months ago, I felt discomfort around that region, did an x-ray and my chest was clear. They just gave me a few pain killers and that was it. I try to exercise better these days and avoid too much exposure to cold.
@@royaldinkoo9803 Thank God he is better. When he is fully recovered he should take his health seriously, avoid habits that could be detrimental to his lungs and also exercise as often as he can.
@@sabdorc they are still performing some test to find out what is really causing water to his lungs......we are really praying and hoping not to be anything cancerous
I have a slight bubbling sensation or it feels like a movement of air within my chest cavity underneath my left nipple more towards my sternum. It's only noticeable at night when I'm adjusting my position in bed or bending over/exerting myself. I do experience what feels like nerve pain or bone pain in that area. I'm a smoker but I don't feel like my lung capacity has changed and I couldn't say whether or not I've been experiencing shortness of breath. Does this sound like a pleural effusion?

Thanks for the great informative video
athelectasie increase the pulmonary pressure
Sir
But heart failure will cause blood to flow back in pulmonary vessels
Then pressure will rise in pulmonary or systemic capillaries
Wdym "but"

Please see a doctor. It's not an effusion, sounds like there's some air from ruptured bullae in the lungs, likely since you're a smoker.
Hi
