    There are two things everyone needs to know. Unless y'all know already. So, first: for the moving map to work correctly, the air probe to DISS switch must be off. If you turn it on, it will mess up your doppler system. Second: go to the Mi-24P aiming station controls, it seems empty, but it isn't, go to axis assign and make sure that the aiming station only takes input from one device, I.e. delete all redundant axis assignments that it makes automatically, which messes up your control. Adjust sensitivity and curve to taste. This is the difference between frustration and joy of operating the AT-6 aim station in the front seat.

    I think you´re doing it wrong. If online flying has tought me anything, you definately need to crash into more friendly and ignore all taxiways.

    Casmo, between this vid and the one with GS, my helo flying tonight has dramastically improved. I've been able to work this big Russian girl in the pattern and land repeatedly softly and where I want. That discussion on increasing the collective to hover at effective transitional lift changed everything.

    Holy shit, you are a Godsend. Thanks for your years of service. I honestly don't know how you do it, you make that thing look so easy. I literally can't get off the ground now. I do the startup and try to trim the controls to neutral since it shows the rotor as being forward and slanted to the right. As soon as I apply collective, it wants to tip over to the left and crashes damn near every time. Knew a guy who flew Hueys in Vietnam, had some wild stories. I bring that up because he talked about how light and agile it was, and I definitely find the Huey easier to fly because of that.
    Compared to the Apache, my understanding is that the Apache is much more advanced with more computerization making the flying and handling alot easier over something like the Hind. I bought the Hind because they didn't have the Apache, once that comes out, I doubt I will touch any other chopper.
    Again thanks for everything, can't wait to watch more. Ever read, "Chickenhawk"?

    use the engine pressure ratio gauge for telling how close you are getting to pulling the guts out of her...
    its the Russian torque gauge.
    it is the 2nd gauge down from the artificial horizon.
    so slap bang in the middle, at the bottom.
    the three red flags are unlimited cruise power. time limited cruise power (60 mins) and the top is take off power. (6 mins max)
    combine it with the pitch indicator.
    the EPR adjusts for outside air temp and pressure.

      I don’t see enough granularity in the eng gauge to tell me anything. Pitch has enough movement to base things off of. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Also with the Hind you have the wings providing up to 30% lift at speed so it takes a lot of the preassure away from the engines.

      @Zeb lol in all honesty I DO believe ED released this one first so the Hind guys can be the guinea pigs testing their new gunner or pilot AIs. They know they need to release the Apache with an AI that can do cannon AND Hellfires. Getting Petrovich tuned just to do ATGMs should be a good start to that IMO.

    Very helpful for us fixed wing jocks getting to grips with rotary after all these years lol. I still swear there’s some black magic involved with helicopters… crazy engineering!

    Do you have any of the SAS channels engaged when you are taking off? I have found myself fighting the SAS inputs at times and have been just leaving it off until established in forward flight. I think if I understood what the SAS was trying to do better I wouldn't be getting into these losing fights.

      Honestly I haven’t even messed with the trimmer hardly at all. Helps cause I use a joystick extension I think.

      Engage the pitch and roll channels, leave everything else off, the altitude and yaw/heading hold channels are really only there for long straight line flying.

    Thank you for these tutorials. There's plenty of tutorials out there that show you how to do this but this is the first I've seen that discusses what you want to be keeping the rotor pitch at and demonstrates more proper techniques.

    This makes wayyyyy more sense than trying to fly this thing like Jeremy Clarkson and POWAAAAAAAAA. Sub'ed. Looking forward to learning more. Maybe some Helo 101 basics course- retreating blade stall, VRS, etc with some pretty graphics? Thanks!

    How often do helicopters take off when they are over max gross weight? BigNewy was saying on the forums that while the ideal max weight for the Mi-24 is 11500kg it's actually max takeoff weight is 12500, which seems to be it's fully loaded weight with heavy weapons and full fuel (or close to it). Usually I just limit fuel and munitions to come in at the 11500 weight, and i can understand why you would want to load up more, but does this actually really happen a lot in real life? As mentioned it doesn't give a lot of great options in an emergancy.

    Thanks for explaining. Now i know which instruments to look for when i want to hover. This thing is heavy... Black Shark feels way more agile and responsive then this beast. How agile does the AH-64D feel for you compared to what you experience in DCS?

    Whenever I take off in the Hind, the vertical gyro 2 light comes on and I'll just sit there spinning for a minute prior to slowly sorting it out and heading forward without much speed overall. Would a heavy curve on the axes help overcome that?

    Any tips for dealing with twitchy flying? I've flown the Kamov before and it's nothing like the hind. I'm always tail diving or nose diving regardless of speed and can't seem to get a hover.

    how does the trim button work in the hind? this topic is always confusing me. i have a normal spring loaded joystick, in the huey i just press and hold the trim button, move the joystick where i need it, release trim, release the joystick. is it the same in the hind?
    in your ka50 video you explained the „trim interrupt“ system, and i really didnt get that very well. is it basically the same as in the huey, like how i do my trim?
    i am also preparing for the apache, thats why i want to understand it and learn it the right way.
    edit: just found out you talked about interrupting your hold modes, not the trim … but with the force trim interrupt button

    IIRC you had/have VKB mkIV rudders, no? What are you using for braking? Are you just using a button, are you using "virtual" toe brakes, or do you have some other axis you are using for brakes?

    Interested to see your thoughts on doing vertical/confined area landings in this thing. The lack of forward visibility in close is killer- I imagine pilots flying this thing for real rely on their front seater's eyes as much as their own when they're in close like that.

    Thanks for the video. A small request please, can you make sane video but without your rudder pedals?
    Like use the T16000m throttle pedals (the ones on its front) and tell how to use these?
    I have the T16000m throttle and I cant control the hind 😂

      Make sure you're not using yaw stability channel in the autopilot. It's a lot more trouble than it's worth.

      It's just that most of the tutorials available are form people having rudder pedals.
      None I've seen yet who is playing with stick and throttle

      @@ThunderingVipers I have to admit, I cannot imagine flying any sim without my pedals, fixed or rotary wing. I have the same hotas as you, plus I have really old Saitek pedals, got them 10 years ago or so. The "petal" on the throttle that you're using is oversensitive, I think, and it becomes rather noisy quick. I think you're better off using stick twist (I assume you have the T16000 stick)

      @@antonbatura8385 well the issue is we cant get rudder pedals here in our country, and HOTAS themselves are extremely expensive to get from abroad...and ive already paid huge prices for it.
      i am using a vkb gladiator with the T16000m throttle..
      and majority of the people i know here in my country are using Just the stick and keyboard to fly with..very few have hotas..and fewer have hotas with pedals..
      hence i am stuck with the Petal of the throttel to use as a rudder..

      @@ThunderingVipers ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I went with T16000 throttle and stick (also crazy expensive where I live), and I had those pedals since forever. I hope you are able to figure it out, man.
